I mentioned him earlier in this thread. I can't seem to find out where he's playing.

If we take on Stackhouse's extra year it will cost the Knicks nearly 15mm next year--not a good choice unless two number 1 picks came with it

I don't want anything to do with Stackhouse I have no idea why Hahn mentioned such a thing. Regardless even if that happened we just renounce his rights on July 1, 2010 and there's no damage to our 2010 cap. I don't see the benefit for us or for Dallas so Hahn must be drinking.

I'd rather consider what I mentioned: Mobley's potential trade exemption for Chucky Atkins. Atkins is nothing like he once was but he would fill in just fine for 10-15 minutes a night so Duhon could stop killing himself - and Atkins fits into a Mike D type of offense.

* - I'll mention this again as I did in the previous blog: the Knicks could consider offering Malik Rose's expiring contract ($7.6 million) for Jerry Stackhouse ($7 million), who is recovering from a sore heel but has been given the green light by Dallas to seek a trade to a better situation where he could find more playing time. The Knicks get an athletic, scoring two, who has a contract that -- all together now -- expires in 2010 and the Mavs get salary relief a year early with Rose, who can also help their frontcourt depth.

bastard stole my idea.

Knicks will need to add a guard and could have their pick of a few young players armed with the titular assets (yes I started this thread to say that). Lets make a list of them-

-Quincy Douby
-Morris Almond
-Marcus Williams
-Sergio Rodriguez?
-Sonny Weems
-Maurice Ager
-Sean Williams
-JJ Redick
-Von Wafer
-Javaris Crittenton?
-Marco Bellinelli?

I think we need a 2-guard the most because Nate is fine as a back-up point.

I'd love to see Morris Almond and think a trade exemption would probably get him for us. He might start right away and he'd probably go off in this system.

After Almond the 2-guards I'd be interested in would be G. Green (not likely), M. Bellinelli (hasn't shown squat) and JJ Redick.

At the point -- I'd love Sergio, would be happy with M. Williams and maybe a Crittenton (I heard that Memphis is really managing the $ very tightly).

2- guards

G. Green 0.8M
Q. Ross 0.8M
D. Cook 1.2M
M. Ager 1.0M
CDR 0.4M
K. Rush 0.8M
A. Tucker 1.0M

Pt Guards

W. Dixon 0.8M
M. Williams 1.3M
CJ Watson 0.7M
L. Head 2.0M
T. Diener 1.6M
M. Taylor 0.5M
K. Lowry 1.2M
C. Lee 1.2M
R. Ivey 0.9M

Almond, Crittenton, Rodriguez and M. Williams in that order. Actually = maybe Crittenton would be 1st choice - he's got a great NBA body.

Just gonna post something similar before I saw you beat me to it LL. I'd even add Belinelli to the list but yeah, these 5 are the best, most promising 5 on VDesai's list IMO -

Almond
Rodriguez
Belinelli
Crittenton
M. Williams

----------------------

And even though he's done absolutely nothing in the league so far, I'm still enamoured with Gerald Green's talent level. Wish we had taken a chance on him for the league minimum before the season when he was there for the taking.

Why don't we offer the trade exception and a 2012 2nd round pick for Marcus Williams and a Golden State 2009 2nd rounder--that saves the Warriors several hundred thousand bucks and gets us a back up PG

Aquiring Stackhouse and or Atkins just doesn't make any sense to me. Whats the point? I'd rather try to aquire young players who haven't been given legit court-time and hope to catch lightening in a bottle.

Alando Tucker
Marco Belinelli
Morris Almond
Marcus Williams (from Arizona, now in the D league)
Javaris Crittenton

Just to name a few....

We have a couple of trade excemptions. I say lets see if we can go for both Almond AND Marcus Williams. That's your backup 1 and you can mold Almond to be your 2 of the future.

I think you get Jarvis he has the most upside and can do a few things. I think his confidence has been destroyed and D'Antoni can rebuild it and turn him into a useful player.

Roberson is the worst player I have ever seen he might be JJ Redick without a jump shot. How this guy got a contract for an entire season is one of the greatest mysteries in sports history.

Why are there any 2 guards on this list? We need a backup PG.

Q, Chandler can fill the SG position.

Uhmmm....Nate has the been the back up point the past 2-3 years on this team including this year.

We just traded our starting shooting guard and the guy who we got back to replace him has a bad ticker.

Duhon and Nate = nice point guard combo

nobody + nobody = a bad 2-guard combo

Wow, I'm surprised you're so interested in Marcus Williams. I like your list though, I'd swap Marcus and Almond though.

Our biggest need is at PG and I still like Marcus. I thought the Knicks should have drafted Almond and I'm still on his bandwagon. Sean Williams because we need a shot blocker who can get up and down the court.

Marcus has done less than Frank Williams. At least when Jason Kidd was pushing FW around he pushed back.

I'd say:

Rodriguez
Crittenton/Lowry
Raja Bell (for Malik Rose... and not because he's still good, but because he knows the system and has played with Tim Thomas, whom he'd come off the bench with... maybe even make them take Roberson too and sign PEJ)
Almond
Head

would be my top 5.
