King1 are you suggesting Lee could get an offer from the Bulls? They have no space to do so this offseason.

Assuming they make no trades or moves. They have pieces they can trade and I am sure they arent going to have just thomas and Noah on the inside next year. Personally I think the suns should trade Diaw for Malik and Lee

Well first you act like Walsh makes such great decisions.
99 Bender
00 Brezec
01 Tinsley
02 Fred Jones
03 no pick best draft ever
04 David Harrison
05 Danny Granger
06 Shawne Williams
07 Gallinari
We can say Walsh is conservative but I dont think we can call him great.

left out Al Harrington at pick 26, too.

and i wasn't talking about draft record, i was talking about signing players to extensions. Artest got about $40M from Walsh. JOneal was maxed. Tinsley I believe also got about $40M. Miller always signed reasonable deals.

Who was traded for Murphy who is making 10 and Dunleavy who is making nine. You also have Daniels making 7 million a year that was traded for. If someone drafts for 100 years they will get a few good ones I was looking at the last 8 drafts. Being conservative and taking your time making a decision is two different things. All I am saying is they should have traded Lee or signed him. I am hoping the Marbury fiasco will be over by 2012.

That the Knicks lose Lee and Nate after this year. What free agent is going to come here and play with Chandler, and Gallinari because by 2010 you have to sign Duhon to a huge payday. Can anyone tell me Plan B if they dont get Lebron. It will be a tough sell to Bosh to come and play with a rookie or a unknown and always get double teamed inside. I havent been a Knick fan for a long time but can someone tell me the last huge free agent that signed here.

that's working under the assumption that Donnie is as big of a moron as Isiah or Scott Layden to allow something like that to happen & allow both those guys to walk & get nothing in return... i don't think he's that stupid... i hope he doesn't prove me wrong.
After 7 years & 40K+ posts, banned by martin for calling Nalod a 'moron'. Awesome.

Again, wait til the deadline. This team could look much different then. Lee... honestly I think he has a good chance to be resigned here if he isn't traded mid-season. NY can match ANY offer for him. Teams who really want him, will have to justify to their fans why they are using their cap money a year before the FA Bonanza that is 2010.
lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

Knicks can resign him and still have max cap space for 2 FAs. Its a non issue... I dont get this thread

Legitimately DLee is more of a off the bench type of player...I not sure how many bench players get max money in this league...Looking at Cleveland, Lee is comparable to Varejao although slightly better..I like Varejao defense better...But Varajao is making 6 mil per and can be resigned at that rate...Why would anyone give Lee double that amount to come off the bench...

I agree with you Holfresh I still think Lee is worth 9 or 10 someone will overpay because he is the only RFA big. If everyone saves their money for 2010 and 3 teams get the good players what do the other teams do?

Lee will get his bank with the Knicks or another team. The sad thing is that there was speculation that the Knicks drafted Gallo with the plan of him replacing Lee and trading Lee.

You can give credit to Walsh for drafting Reggie Miller but the Pacers getting J Oneal and Ron Artest was a Isiah move. J Oneal said that from his Portland days Isiah was keeping an eye on his game. This is why J O'Neal feels that Isiah is the one that made him the player he is today.

I went through this already.
If the Knicks resign Lee starting at $8mm and Nate starting at $6mm
If the Knicks can dump Curry but have to keep JJ
That leaves them with:
Nate $6mm
Lee $8mm
Gallo: $3.3mm
Chandler :$2.1mm
JJSkinny $6.8mm
Draft 09 $2.5mm x2 (lets say we get an extra pick this year)

That puts us at $31.2mm

Lets say we start Duhon at $7mm with a new juicy 5 year $40mm contract

Now we are at $38.2mm

Knicks are Lee, Nate, Chandler, Gallo, JJSkinny, Duhon, the two players we draft in 09 in the offseason of 2010 and we are $26mm under the cap still.

GOD FORBID we are able to move JJSkinny then we are over $30mm under the cap WITH Duhon, Lee, Nate all resigned.

That would leave you with a veteran PG who is a pass first guy, some good solid role players and scorers and a coach that most in league regard as one of the most desirable to play for.

The backup plan?

You still have the cap space. If we whiff you still have great opportunity during the year to take on players and not have to match salaries.
Draft

We can sign two stars. The problem is what two stars do you think the Knicks are looking to get? If you are thinking Lebron the word is he wants to play with a team that has two other stars. Not just one other star. In other words the Knicks probably need to clear cap room to sign a Bosh, Wade and Lebron if Lebron is their target. Now with that being said which player do you think is more important to the Knicks in 2010, Duhon or Lee? The Knicks will need to sign a point guard. We all like Lee but I would rather go for a chance to sign three stars with some role players.
