watching a highlight reel of young marbury highlights on youtube... it's so sad what could have been. he's a selfish headcase now, but then... he was a selfish headcase with a helluva a crossover and such a crazy skill set who could just overpower other PGs...

really is a damn waste of talent & ability... he coulda been so great if he'd just had the brains & humility to go w/the talent.

The foxhole reference is very interesting because that implies that you would lay it all on the line for your teammates. Marbury has never been that guy. If the reference is somehow in regard to the fact that they all belong to the same union even that is weak. However, Marbury is right in the fact that this has not been handled in the right manner and I can see where he thinks the Knicks are in the wrong. However, what it appears he fails to see is that he was never really been a teammate to the guys in the locker room and that the organization is moving on.

I say take his one million dollar offer, and pay the rest but only if:

He doesn't play for another team in this league, for the rest of the season (and why would anyone care to argue with that?).

He keeps his mouth shut about Donnie, D'Antoni and his x-teammates and has no contact with any of them.

Does not come after the Knicks with a lawsuit.

And if he wants to, (and if anyone else wants to) he can go play in another country.

If' he refuses any of those conditions, then keep him on payroll, and keep him the hell away from MSG and the Knicks. Make him suffer on his own and if he continues to bad mouth the franchise, then sue him!

I just got a scary thought. A real good reason for Marbury not to play for anther team is 'what if Cleveland picked him up'? Marbury's game is not the main complaint from Knick fans. So if he went to Cleveland, do you think he'd put everything he had into the game, to help Lebron get to that championship? You can bet to lose all the clothes on your back that he would. No doubt about it. He'd be on his best behavior and it would be absolute sweet revenge for him and a huge stake in our hearts, because if James does' win in Cleveland, you can pretty much sign him off right there. It would be 'derailed'. Talk about pay back!

There is no way I want Marbury playing for someone else..
I'll never trust this' team again.

the single most effective way to get Lebron to want to leave Cleveland is sending Marbury there to play with him.

1. Steph's been bailing on his teammates for the last 13 years. But once again it's all about him. He doesn't realize that what his teammates did to him THIS ONCE is nothing like what he did to KG, KVH, Dice, Jamal, H20, Googs, Flip, Lenny, even Isiah/Larry, Marion, Malik, Byron Scott, Casey, etc. He doesn't realize these are the same teammates that have gone above and beyond to put up with his **** and just finally had enough.

2. Steph's trust issues on the court, which led to him wasting talent, opportunities and maybe even a career, are nothing more than a byproduct of his trust issues OFF the court. Those of us in CI who watched him grow up and those of us around the NY basketball community have always said that if Eric or Norm (or even Donnie) made the NBA, Steph would have been better off because he could have learned to be himself (or just been a damn kid) instead of what everyone else wanted him to be. Unlike the rest of us, Steph has never been told no and even when he was, he could just get whatever it was from someone else. And as dumb and stubborn as he is, even he realizes that that's only for one reason...what he could do on the court. So he just assumes everyone's out for something and from a young age, figured he should "get his" anyway regardless of whether your intentions were genuine or not.

The Marburys finally got one of their boys in the League and probably ruined him at the same time.

Interesting take and one that almost evokes empathy for him. Im sure its not easy being him with so many tugging at him for many reasons. He as been cast by others. Kind of sad in many ways. He does seem to grasp for some peace and presence in the world. He does not hurt anyone, im sure supports many people and mostly does good things with his money. Ok, maybe the jet thing is over the top.

But as an employee of MSG, or any other club he worked for, he has been a disaster. Im sure he is totally getting phuched over now but its kind of self inflicted. MSG is pretty good to its players. You put out for them and they honor their end.

.

I have no sympathy for him. A lot of guys had it worse than he did and there comes a point in your life where you take responsibility for your actions, regardless of how ****ed up the priorities of the adults in your life might have been. There are many people who grew up in way worse situations that aren't walking around full of ****. If anything, Steph is a prime example of a larger trend of 30+ year old men in all walks of life who seem to have female tendencies with their emotions, teenage reasoning skills, and refuse to grow up. His job just pays him more and we see his bitch like tendencies displayed in public.

My issue is, you can take about 10 guys who grew up playing against Steph and even Mel Mel Tinsley, who had NBA talent and would have killed for the opportunities these guys got but are stuck playing summer ball on asphalt and spending their winters in Siberia because the ball didn't bounce for them the way it did these knuckleheads.

So no, my post wasn't meant as sympathy and doesn't tell the entire story of Steph anyway, nor was it meant to absolve him of blame. It's just a basic surface scratching explanation of why he's the way he is. But that doesn't mean he hasn't had plenty of time to learn about himself, others and his craft and make the necessary adjustments.

LeBron wants absolutely nothing to do with Steph and has disliked him for 5 years now. Steph is not going to Cleveland. He's got a better chance of Christmas dinner with the D'Antoni's.
