3 Team Deal?

http://weblogs.newsday.com/sports/basketball/knicks/blog/2008/11/threeway_deal.html

Just heard this seconds ago...

The Knicks, Warriors and Clippers are talking about a three-way deal that would involve Jamal Crawford, Zach Randolph and Mardy Collins being sent in a cap-space clearing move that would bring in Tim Thomas, Cuttino Mobley and Al Harrington.

The contracts on all three incoming players expire in 2010.

Trying to confirm this now.

Stay tuned . . .

That is a great big dump! Excellent!

We have proven you can't win with Craw. He won't opt out unless someone gives him an extension. And if he does, it make him tradable now.

Zach has value now. We are not giving up any picks to dump him.

TT again? Cat? Harrington? All guys that can run and gun, and are "hired" for the short term. All guys that don't win, but have value the closer to their expiring too.

Be patient. This is one of many moves that will happen before 2010. It won't all come together at once. Walsh knows what he is doing.

It makes sense in the long term. But this is essentially a throw away for this season.

time to start scouting the draft. there's no reason to care about this season anymore.

I would be happy if we could swipe Jordan from the Clippers. I was back and forth on him during the CBB--but he looked very good against his peers in an open NBA type game in SL.

UGH! People realize that if Randolph goes, Eddy Curry is going to log minutes, right?

i truly doubt he will unless he gets in shape.

hey, everyone has been praying for blowing it up and cap room. this is what blowing it up and cap room looks like - UGLY. i'm sure lebron is licking his chops at our roster right now.

IF the Knicks could keep a core of Chandler, Gallinari, Lee, Nate and make room for Lebron that'd be huge.

If Curry could be rehabilitated in the mean time that would be even huger.

The players we'd be getting back aren't horrible. We're not gonna win with them, but we can still be fairly competetive.

one way or another, we need to score big in this year's draft. If we can dump some guys to maximize our odds in the lottery, fine. If not, Donnie has got to get some picks in these deals too. Gallo, Chandler and Nate aren't nearly enough to build a team around.

Well, if this deal happens, this season is being given up on. Regardless of his shape, he'll start getting some time because, well, they'll need to get tot he point where they can showcase this fat bastard to further improve the cap situation.

Why? He's a very athletic 7 footer--you cant compete without one.

This is the best thing that could ever happen. All three of these players will be trade bait next year for younger guys or salary dumps. Getting rid of Zach is the best thing that could happen to the Knicks

it might be the best thing that could happen to dlee's rebounding numbers... and his contract demands...

Well, I'm hoping this deal is a prelude to DLee + Curry for Marion

your right about that. if this deal goes down, our tema will be crap. not to say that we are a spitting ball of fire now but the starting lineup will look like this:

duhon
mobley
jeffries/chandler
harrington
lee

not exactly an exciting team to watch. however, in the long run, it is an excellent deal. we get cap flexibility in the future. we also will get another high pick since we will have our pick this year IF we are not picking in the 20's i believe. i think we don't have our 2010 pick altogether so next year is the last year we can slouch.

Alan Hahn is reporting that a possible three-way blockbuster trade could be completed.

The Knicks, Warriors and Clippers may be on the verge of a trade that would involve Jamal Crawford, Zach Randolph and Mardy Collins being traded in a cap-clearing move that would see the Knicks bring in Tim Thomas, Cuttino Mobley and Al Harrington.

The Clippers would land Randolph and the Warriors would receive Jamal Crawford.

All three of the players New York would acquire have contratcs that expire by 2010 when LeBron James, Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh may be free-agents.

The Knicks could be looking to clear two maximum salary slots for that summer's free-agency period.

D'Antoni does not think that way, man. I agree with you. I'd rather target Thabeet than DJordan, but D'Antoni doesn't care about blocked shots or about defensive pressence. he cares about pace and shooting.
