I agree with TMS on the Caron Butler comparison. Less SG skills but more forward skills. Caron might be slightly more tenacious though.

Man I wish we drafted Caron in 2002, or Boozer with #25.

Or Amare instead of Sweetney. Or Bynum instead of Frye. Or...

Im getting depressed. Whatever. Go Knicks!

Amare and Sweetney weren't in the same draft. You mean Amare over McDyess trade.

True, my bad. But yeah, thats the point, we had a higher pick and we traded it for McDyess.

Reviewing that 2003 draft where we drafted Sweetney, wow, Dallas took Josh Howard at #29! And who picked #30? The Knicks

Amare was given a promise from Pheniox and withheld workouts so I don't know if we were given the opportunity to work him out.

Amare & Butler both had baggage so I doubt Layden would have taken the shot on them anyway. I think for Layden it was between Nene & Jefferies.

Butler was great last night. No he was not the best player on the court. Pierce was. Not sure how it looked tv, but Pierce changed the Knicks entire defense. They would be shaded entirely to his side of the court and everytime he went to the basket they were forced to foul. Chandler, was not to that level, but let's not take anything away from him, he was great last night. I think at the moment he is overmatched at the PF position from a rebounding standpoint. He battles on the post and negates his height disadvantage but I don't think he can rebound with the big boys yet. But it's only his 2nd year, he will get stronger and he will learn the tricks of the trade so I still beleive he will become a good rebounder from the 4 spot and is already a good one from the 3 spot.

It's tough to say how good he will be. As far as 2nd year players are concerned he's definitely near the top of that list. If he continues to work he has potential to be mentioned in the same breath with some all-star players. The man can play.

On a side note, he does tend to drift against perimeter players and gives up open jumpbers. At times he also fades out on offense and isn't aggressive.

I'm curious to which position people see Chandler playing? I still view him as more of a PF than a SF, which seemingly puts me in the minority.

I think he's a guy who can play down low as well as stretch the defense. We've seen him play tough defense against KG.

I see him as the poor man's Rasheed Wallace. I'm not sure he'll ever take over a gmae like Wallace once capable of, but I think Chandler will be a starter on a team and help more nights than he hurts.

It's tough. I think right now he still struggles against quick SF who have perimeter games. As a PF he creates mismatches because they can't come out to guard him. He can also battle and is a pretty good post defender. Problem is that he is in a similar situation to what Othella was in when he was hear. He can battle with those guys but everynight(at least right now) he is physically overmatched. Powe, Perkins and Davis were pushing our guys around like rag dolls. I think he's a tweener that can be good at both. Right now, I see him as more of a 4. In the future I still think his success is at the 3 primarily and sliding to the 4 depending on matchups.

I think in D'Antoni's system his rotations are set up to create mismatches. As we get more versatile players to play alongside Chandler we can slide him back and forth between positions and he probably won't have a defined one. By adding more balance it will make him a betetr player.

Hey Bip

You catch anything live at the game like on the knicks bench or something that we wouldn't be able to tell from tv.

I had my son with me, and I was keeping him occupied throught the game(he's not yet 4) so I have nothing to insightful. There was a funny exchange that I wrote about in the other thread.
