Duhon is signed for 2 years so don't get attached. If Donnie is serious about 2010 we can't possibly keep him AND sign a LeBrawn. If we don't renounce his rights in 2010, he will represent a huge cap hold that will kill ANY cap space. We will either trade him or renounce his rights.

And your point guard will be....?
I suppose we'll go with no point guard? It'll just be JJ2, Q, and Lebron. There's a recipe for success.
You guys gotta snap out of it man.

my 2 picks for the MLE this offseason were Sasha Vujacic & Chris Duhon... looking back i think Walsh definitely picked the right guy... we wouldn't have been able to sign Vujacic to a 2 year deal & Duhon's had a much bigger impact on this team than any backup shooter could have.

sure we can sign Duhon... we still have the MLE to use whether we're capped out or not... just gotta make sure we land the big name guy before we sign Duhon to any extensions... if he keeps improving this year Duhon might end up wanting more than a MLE tho.

So much will likely have changed by the time we get to 2010, that it makes little sense to worry about Duhon at this point. I'm sure that they have some idea of the options they'll have to either resign him or replace him at that time. They went into his deal expressly limiting it to 2 years, even tho they felt he would be successful in his role.

I think chris is pretty decent,i also thinks the team wanted to change how they play anyway. His being here and having some early success is also a testament to how bad the team wanted to succeed. It was also a surprise to MDA on the first day of training camp how enthuse the team was.

It's hard to know what you mean by that. Here's what I meant by it:

I never had a strong opinion of him either way, is what I mean. And I certainly didn't expect this from him either.

Hey, we all knew he was a solid player. But being such a good leader for this group, running McD's system to almost perfection, be this good as a starter? He has really proved his value in the starting lineup isn't in his final stats, but in the way the Knicks play as a team. This is the same team that looked lost and uninterested last season, yet this season, even in their losses, they have played extremely well team backetball.

In other words, Donnie and D made a first great move in Du. Not bad for starters, not bad at all. Now if the Gallinari kid can recover from back trouble, then the pick will be equally as good.

I hope he can, too. He is young so he should be able to recover. He has the right attitude and confidence. I hope this pick does become a great one for NY.

He's been way better than I thought--problem is he's signed for 2 years--when we try this gig to get under the cap--we will have to renounce his rights and then we are back looking for a PG.

^ not a problem at all. The more I think about it the more getting under the cap and keeping good options open seems viable. The cap will be close to $65mm. I think Zach gets traded before this year's deadline in a trade thats good for us. I think Curry gets moved for whatever, Lee is included in something for a pick and Nate is extended in the summer. Duhon might get an extension as well, if he's eligible. Crawford will walk and I HOPE we trade for Gerald Wallace.

heading into summer of 2010 we would have:
Nate, Duhon, Gerald Wallace, Chandler, Gallo and a bunch of guys in rookie or MLE type contracts.

Thats a good looking uptempo line up with close to $20mm in cap space.

The key is drafting good enough players that a star will want to come in and join.

It is because fish has time on his hands right now. His neighbor blew a big gyro fart so he evacuated the area, went to another pc and forward that pic to us.
