Seriously I don't see the point in all of the ink and e-ink being wasted on Marbury.

WHO CARES WHAT HAPPENS TO HIM!!!!!!1

+1 Trillion!!!! Steph is just a minor issue in my mind and this is being blown up by the press. GM's and Coaches often are at odds with each other on use of players. MDA doesn't want to sacrifice player development just to play a guy who shouldn't even be on the team. He's not saying he won't ever play him but he doesn't see a benefit to playing him ahead of the players more likely to be here next year.

Of course if Walsh had gotten rid of Steph before the season started this wouldn't be an issue, but then we are talking about 22 mil. That's a lot of money to just send away for nothing. How do you explain that to Dolan? Still it's tough to have him here and not play him, so it's a problem. Now MDA could play him and that would solve the problem to some degree, but he doesn't want to play him and I don't blame him. The contract and Steph's horrible image are the biggest hindrances to moving him. For now he just needs to sit there and remain quiet and the press should just let it go, but we know they won't.

For those of you bashing MDA and Walsh, just realize that it's easy for you to just sit here and spout off, but if you had the job things would be a lot tougher and you'd likely have a totally different appreciation for how tough all of this is. Don't let the NY Press make you think this is a bigger issue than it is. No one really cares about this but them.

Nix, what this shows is a certain naivete on both parts, GM and Coach, on how things work in NY...What also comes into question as well, Is there really a "plan"?... Did Walsh throw out 2010 to buy him some time until his contract is more or less up...Blue said it best in a sense, this is a full time job for the GM and he needs to get to it...Putting the Steph issue on the back burner won't make it go away...

Personally, I think MDA is thin skinned and he is bringing the spotlight on himself which he doesn't need right now...Marbs has been through this mess before, he can handle it...He's sitting on 22 mil, he will be quiet...If the Knicks continue to lose with Duhon and Craw continue to play poorly, the Garden will let MDA know about his decision...Now is he tough enough to handle that??...

I think this 2010 thing is overblown. Every team in the league that does not have an established star is gearing up for 2010. We should be too. We should be gearing ot make a run at one of these guys while also putting ourselves in position so that if we don't get one of these guys we aren't starting over in 2010. What other choice does Walsh have at this point? Win now? Come one.

Walsh and D'Antoni understand the situation very well. They know the fans need entertainment, and are unlikely to find it by watching the team play basketball, so they have once again turned to the most entertaining Knick - Stephon Marbury - to save the season.

This is why Marbury is the heart and soul of this franchise.

That's why he gets the max contract.

They're in really dangerous waters right now. This is REALLY not the time to play "chicken." Steph might end looking like a martyr in all this and it's only going to make the FO look that much worse.

Firstly the media HATE Dolan and the Knicks and will NEVER miss an opportunity to make them look bad.

Secondly, these beat reporter types don't make much money and are PROUD of that. They hate anybody who makes money and will never miss an opportunity to make anyone look bad that does.

Thirdly, if you go back and read every article that has been written and ONLY read the parts that are in "QUOTES" then you'll probably scratch your head and go...what's the big deal. If you read the articles and ONLY read the spin from these soap opera digest armchair wannabees you get alot of emotions and hearsay.

Yes, we stink right now, but even when we're good, the soap opera pundits will find a way to turn it into drama.

My favorite trick that they use is when they write some that is totally speculation, and then qoute it the next day as fact - "it was reported in the Post yesterday". Somebody should make these guys actually prove what they write is truth. It would make for some pretty boring sports articles though as the coaches, GM comments are mostly dry boilerplate stuff.

It's not just sports. It's in politics, world news, local news etc. Journalism is dying. They are all tabloids
