Let him walk it isn't the end of the world.

Ah come on man! You've got to be kidding. The only thing missing from Lee's game has been a dependable jumper and he's beginning to develop that. He's already a high rebound per min guy, throws good lead passes to start the break or can handle it to start a break himself, team player, great finisher, can draw fouls, get to the line and convert and at least he gives effort on D. There aren't that many guys you can point to who give you all of that. PLUS he's a good guy and fan favorite. How can we not be excited by the prospects of Lee, Chan, Nate and Gallo down the road for this team?

I didn't say I wouldn't sign him its just that I would wait after the year to sign him. If his demands are very high then I would let him walk. Besides you want to see what the team does this year if they are the same stinking bunch then I wouldn't waste time or money on anyone of them. Besides the goal is still 2010 isn't it and Lee isn't a great player to build a team around. Why would you want another player that will take up cap space and prevent a possible stud signing in 2010.

oohah, the problem is that the Knicks can only re-sign without going to the market if they do so by the end of the month. If Lee plays super well during the year, maybe some team decides to sign him to a huge offer sheet. If that happens, and we didn't offer him less (I dunno if it would be 60 million, which I am guessing is averaging 10 mil over 6 years) that he might take, that would put us in a tough spot, because then you are letting him just walk away.

That's why I say if he performs 60 million good he will be traded.

oohah

IF HE PLAYS SUPER WELL, THEN WHY WOULDN'T WE WANT TO PAY HIM TO STAY????????????? I MEAN THAT'S WHAT WE'RE TRYING TO DO RIGHT OR ARE WE IN THE BUSINESS OF DEVELOPING PLAYERS, MAKING THEM INTO SUPER PLAYERS, ONLY TO GET RID OF THEM????? THAT'S BIZAAR!
I'll never trust this' team again.

What's wrong with Gallo, Lee, Chandler as the future frontcourt let other teams try to defend them. You want to build a team for Lebron or Bosh, or whoever you are doing it with those three guys.

You are poster of the year as far as I'm concerned. The non-believers will be crying that we're finally successful! Bizaarr!!!

Exactly. All Lee ever needed was playing time to prove himself. He proved it his first year and then had his minutes slashed last year and then got injured.

Allan Houston 100 Million. Learn your lesson A player can be very good but if you overpay him you lock yourself into a situation where it is difficult to get better. Get it?

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

If you give Lee 60 mil then you are saying he is the powerforward for the Knicks years to come. Because 60 mil for a backup is a lot of money. The Knicks want to give Lee about 50. I think anything around 60 and I think they will let him walk.

60 million is very reasonable, according to the rates of people like houston and Marbury. But what are we talking about? We have a brand new spanking team who is going to be an offensive power house and 'possibly' a defensive gem. Combine both those together and you have a playoff contender. I'm banking on it.

I don't think you do get it. We all know Lee is a nice player, maybe even a very good player. He can have a great season under D'Antoni. But this team is not going to get to the promised land on Lee's back. If you give him that kind of money you can't land the player that can put the Knicks on his back and take them to the promised land? Get it?

By the way, it isn't "your talking to them man who taught you how to think." It is: "You are" or: "You're". This is the man who is teaching you how to write in proper English. Got it?

But I do get it my friend! I been saying for the last few months that a D'Antoni system will improve this team, it will at best be much more interesting then the last 'ten' years. And I have been saying that the real team is not here yet. It will be ready after this season and the next. In three seasons, we will have a whole new team dominating the league (if of course Walsh doesn't crash and burn like the others). Now that may or may not involve Lee, Chandler and Gallinari as are possible core. And never once did I say Lee was going to carry the team.

But on another post, I did say that if this team goes beyond expectations, then we may not have to buy out any of the players after all. I said a lot of things and so far I'm right. What's happened so far in the two pre-season games are signs of what I predicted on your Ass Hanging thread. I'm going to keep tabs and see how close I can get with the predicts.

Now as far as the Lee contract, I also did say on another thread that 'I bet you's guys that Lee will accept something reasonable, because he understands what it's going to take to win and that's the kind of guy he is. A class act'. I may think he deserves 90, but it doesn't mean he'll get that kind of money. I say offer him 50 and if he wants more, then up it to 60, even 70 if he proves himself this year and puts all doubters to shame, which I think he is going to do.

You teach me how to spell and I'll teach you how to think. Get it?

$7 mil a year? That's what most solid sixth men who aren't on rookie contracts make, not what a double-double PF makes

Then he wont be a Knick. I would offer him 60mm over 6 today--I think he'll take it. If he plays close to what he's been playing here you are talking 80-90mm.

So if Lee gets 60 do you plan on starting him for years to come? Do you think the Knicks should lock Lee down with 60 mil when Chris Bosh might be available in 2010? If we sign Lee then that might limit our chances on getting a player like a Bosh who can play both ends of the court.

When you lock up Lee for that kind of money you are saying this is our franchise pf. Do you think Lee is worth the risk if his contract hurts our cap? We can't say we want a good cap and then lockup players with big contracts.

Keep in mind that Zach might still be here. Also where does that leave Gallo?
