Any word on Houston and Q Rich? Houston wont have much of a chance to make the team if he doesn't play any pre-season games.

A big reason why we improved our play from the 1st quarter is q's absense.

I im dantoni q rich has avery short leash with astud like chandler behind him and all these hungry gaurds

Good game. We have two 20-10 players[or very close to it] and a bunch of guys who can score. If we can get Curry to play well on the second unit--take out Rose --we should win 45. When you start having guys like Marbury on your second unit--you should be pretty good. Also Id rather see Chandler starting instead of Q.

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

if we could trade Curry for a shotblocking athletic baackup center then we'd really be in business...... and if Danillo could come in and erase Q Rich... yes

Come on dude, don't study it. This isn't a game. The Knicks have a lot to prove. They have to play guys minutes. The Knicks are a laughing stock........all I gotta say is enjoy these Knicks and get that pride back. This game was pre-season but it was pretty awesome.

Yeah, there is a very big who fits, who doesn't, theme going on here.

I think you give Crawford a little more time.

Q looks like he's still a bum unfortunately.

Malik is OBVIOUSLY a bum.

No way Houston can do this.

Curry, eh, role player at best here, 15 minutes a night - so you try to move him.

Randolph looks real good in this system but I just don't know about the future with him.

Duhon redeemed himself so I guess he can do this but we can't be fooled he's a mediocre player.

Nate looks great. Marbury looks very good.

Jeffries might do well in this.

Lee obviously is great.

Collins is impressive because he was such a bum last year and now is in much better shape and seems to grasp the concept.

Overall I'd say I'm quite surprised, just 2 games in, how they've done.

Of course, let's not be fooled, the Sixers didn't play their vets but for half a game so we were beating up on their bench at times. Toronto, kinda the same, so lets hold off until we declare any of this a success.

Yet, it's obvious what players do and don't fit. That seems to come about rather quickly.

I agree with what's been said before about not getting too excited during pre-season. It's use is to get the players in synch and tell the coaches which players are getting it and what each one needs to do to contribute more.

We do have some good players, but I don't see this team doing much damage. It's nice to see Chandler coming along and Lee continuing to improve. Mardy's not a great player, but he's better than he showed last season. I think he was still recovering from the injury he had late in his rookie year. Zach is fining a way to fit in - which surprises me. He actually hit some three's yesterday.

Marbury may be tradeable. He's in good shape and can help this season, but as we're not contenders, it may make sense to move him for the right deal. We just have to avoid getting long term contracts in return.

There was one play that I really enjoyed. Marbury took the ball up on a pass from Lee and then passed it behind him to Duhon. Duhon passed it back to Marbury after he got some separation. Then Marbury went back to Duhon who made a wide open three. It seemed like a lot of passes, but they were all good, crisp, purposeful passes which lead to an open three.

THIS is what I envisioned this team could do if they were coached properly. Initially this is what Isiah said he wanted to do, before he panicked and totally burned his playbook, which was full of this very same kind of stuff. Remember he said he wanted to play more like PHX? He lacked the ability to get it done, but with MDA he's fully committed to it and he's of course the real deal and not just someone playing at being him.

I know that most of those who were opposed to MDA did so cuz they thought we needed to gut the team and start over trying to build a defensive juggernaut. The thing is that it's not practical to try and do that when you've already got a young core of talent that can win playing an uptempo game. Instead Walsh seems to have decided to work with those players in mind and build in that direction with a coach who can coach that style. He matched the coach and players very well.

Was it just me or did it seem like Philly is very much about Ai and Brand and not much else? I wasn't tha impressed with their team overall. Brand and AI are beasts, but in terms of overall depth I feel we could compete with them.

agreed. that was nice.

i also agree that marbury actually looks good enough to be traded at this point. he's in fantastic shape, it honestly seems like 2004 since he's been in this kind of shape. walsh is in a tough spot with him. i think miami or golden state still might be interested.

but i guess the real question is: is there anyway we can keep him? best guard unit out there last night was when marbury and duhon were on the floor together. best ball movement and best spacing because marbury can slash to the paint with ease again and duhon can keep folks honest with his shooting.

I don't see any moves being made until we get to the trade deadline. I can see Walsh wanting to get a good look at what he has and what he wants to move and bring in. It won't make sense to do anything until we get Curry, Jared and Gallo on the court and see how they do in this system.

seeing as tho Elton Brand completely demolished us in the 1st quarter & got very limited burn in the 2nd half, i'm gonna take this game w/a huge grain of salt... the Knicks' 1st stringers were out there vs. the Sixers 2nd team for much of the game in fact.

individually i loved what i saw outta D Lee... that midrange jumper he's developed is gonna do wonders for his game... why can't all our guys be like this kid? he comes in every year w/another skillset added to his repertoire... next thing for him to learn is some help defense, tho in a D'Antoni system i'm glad he decided to work on his jumpshot this offseason instead.

Zach looked pretty good but he's still forcing up shots as usual & i still see the same ol' Steph on the court... yeah the guy can play, no one ever doubted that about him, but he's still the same player guys... don't be fooled by his trim down look & BS words about being a team player this year... as soon as this team starts to lose games again the same ol' Starbury -3 will rear its ugly head.

Duhon & Mardy Collins even looked pretty good & impressed me... Duhon especially, he can really stroke the open 3, which will be huge for us this season... Mardy had a pretty vicious drive the lane dunk in the game too... he doesn't look nearly as lost on the floor as he did last season, but again, it's a preseason game.

overall i see the same ol' Knicks pretty much other than D Lee's added jumpshot & Duhon.

Isiah is a dumb coach and couldn't implement a system because he doesn't know how to use players. We would have a ****ing allstar team had we never made the move for curry. Richardson is terrible and really there isn't much use for him out there.

I like that D'Antoni is playing some of the guys big minutes because they are developing their chemistry, identity and learning how to win again which is very important fort this fragile unit. Curry needs to run till he literally has to be carried to the hospital in order to maximize his skills for 15 minutes a night which is what should have been happening the past few season.

Chandler does a little bit of everything well and is still finding himself he is going to be very close to a fringe allstar in two season with lee becoming an allstar. Zach looks better but we need to find a way to move him.

Collins looks good defensively and getting people the ball, there are small positives developing, but our frontcourt defense needs some real work. To bad we can't move Collins, Zach, and a pick to LA for Camby he is just what this team needs

I agree, zach and steph seem like they want to play team ball, but you know how old habits are hard to break. They both have a boat load of confidence which is why they tend to force the issue sometimes or to many times for the matter. I saw some nice team work by both in the raptors game, as well as 2nd, but there were a couple of times zach look to force the up, and the whats worse ( in a way) is that they either get the bucket or the foul. It's up to MDA to get them out of that mind set.

Over the course of a game you're gonna need some somewhat selfish play. It's nearly impossible to avoid that. The trick is to know when to turn that on and off. When a player is super hot you want to have him taking good shots and not forcing it. Zach has to learn to recognize that he should only be shooting when he's open, otherwise just make the pass and allow the offense to create a better shot. That takes trust and that has to develop over time. He has to trust that he'll get the ball back or get it another time downcourt. Guys like him have the playground mentality that if I don't call my own number I won't see the ball again. MDA seems to really do a good job of getting rid of that attitude, so we'll see how that goes.
