Do you know he didn't come into one game all year with runners on base? Every single save opportunity was a clean-slate start of an inning.

that's pretty crazy... to think of all the saves Mo's gotten over the years cleaning up some other pitcher's mess after they'd put men on base... still tho, KRod's pretty nasty whenever u gotta face him, u gotta admit... other than Mo i can't think of many better closers in the game than him... he's gonna get paid by someone no doubt about it... IMO the Mets would do well to sign a guy like him up... he's head & shoulders better than Billy Wagner or Aaron Pukeman.

He is, but the Mets need more than a closer. They need an entire bullpen, Ayala, Heilman, Feliciano, Schoenweiss all have to go. It would be wiser to pick up several good arms for the pen(cruz, affeldt, wheeler, others i cant recall) rather than splurging on a closer with an awkward delivery.

why don't u pull some arms outta ur farm system? i mean out of all those great prospects u always talk about there should be some guys who can fill in & do the job in relief, no? look at all the teams that have won championships in the past 10 years... almost all of them have had a dominant closer... other than the '03 D'Backs every team that's won the WS has had a guy like Mo, KRod, Jenks or Papelbon on it (yes, i realize KRod was not a closer in '01 but he was Percival's setup guy & 1 of the main reasons why they won it all that year)... don't underestimate a closer's importance... most Yankee fans realize that Mo was probably the biggest single reason why the Yankees were so successful during their run... if u got a chance to sign up 1 of the best closers in the game & relief pitching is ur biggest weakness, then i don't see why KRod wouldn't make sense for your franchise to target.
After 7 years & 40K+ posts, banned by martin for calling Nalod a 'moron'. Awesome.

There are some minor league arms for the pen like parnell and kunz. Add smith to that mix and thats what i would start next yrs pen with. Krod scares me because of his awkward delivery and the fact that he has lost some velocity already at such a young age. And 15mil a yr is too much for any reliever(or closer) not named Rivera.
