I know men who fought for this country and had to drink from a separate water fountain and were not allowed to vote when they got back.

However, they still love America and are undoubtedly 20X as patriotic as anyone who is bitching about Josh Howard's comments.

But, if those same men who spilled blood for this country, were then subsequently treated like dogs by it decided they did not care for the flag and anthem, I would not begrudge them that feeling as that is what America is all about: Freedom of expression.

People need to get off of their redneck soapboxes and learn some history, with their "Murrica, love it or leave it!" tired ass mantras. It shows a lack of education and perspective.

i will say those that have shed blood in defending this country yet really have no other choice but to live here have the right to choose whether or not they wanna stand for the American anthem, just like those that live here have the right to criticize them for doing so... the problem i have is when people inject uncalled for racist insults at these people on a public forum... what they feel in the privacy of their own homes is their own business, but don't let that infringe on someone else's right not to have to be exposed to their hate.

it also bothers me when someone like Josh Howard who's made millions of dollars living in the same country he doesn't want to honor during its national anthem & who is easily capable of moving to another country to make those millions if he so chooses will so stupidly disrespect the flag & every one who's ever died defending his right to do so... on that point alone i will agree w/his critics... he doesn't like what this country stands for but he sure doesn't seem to have a problem collecting all those millions while working & living here... completely hypocritical stance on his part... he needs to grow the F up & realize the significance of his words & actions just like those other racist idiots do.
