From the most recent Hahn blog:
I wrote something for the print edition about Danilo Gallinari's back issue. The Knicks aren't saying much of anything about it. A spokesman told us that the injury "is not a serious concern" and the fact that Gallo isn't running pick-up with his teammates right now is because the team "is being careful" with the prized 20-year-old rookie.
No exact definition of the injury has been given. It was called "soreness" in July and nothing more has been said. Anything after that has been speculation. Gallinari in July did make reference to having shooting pain from his hip and hamstrings to his back, which could be an indication of a nerve issue. But, again, we'd be just speculating.
I dismiss the "damaged goods" conspiracy theory which some on this board seem to relish discussing
ad infinitum in the same way that I pay no attention to the rumors that Obama is a Muslim.
I also think that Gallinari will be fine, and in a few years people are going to saying that we were fortunate to pick him up.
I will say this, however, the Knicks and Walsh did not help things out with their lack of transparency on this issue. The Knicks have been about as forthcoming with info on Gallo's back as Sarah Palin has been on her positions on the issues.
If they had been honest about things in the first place fans would not be as apprehensive as they are now.
