After the election she would be vice president......so picking this lady just to get Hilary's votes is retarded.

Its a slap in the face to women. If I was a woman I would totally be down to protest her debates, etc.....he should have got Condie Rice and hit 2 birds with one stone.....

Rice is too moderate for the Far Right. I thinhk it says alot about McCain's judgement.
1) Picking a VP nominee that is far less experience than your opponent who you claim is not yet ready to be Commander in Chief at the advance age of 72 and having serious medical issues in the past.
2) Allowing your think tank to make your decision for you. It is now reported that McCain actually wanted to take Liberman but was warned that he would lose the Far Right.
3) Another hot rumor is that McCain made the choice yesterday as a way to deflect Obama's speech.
4) He met her only once before.

As an independent I voted for McCain in the GOP primary election back in 2000. He was indeed a maverick but somewhere after that defeat in SC he lost himself.

McCain just made his campaign a laughing stock and a footnote to history.

The only consistency is his preference for younger women.

Her years of being Mayor and Council Person of the town of 6,000 people as Executive is that experience?

When people go into the voting booth this November, you will see that McCain has made a grave mistake.

Do you actually think that women would vote for McCain and Palin? I don't think so.

It's a joke in my view what McCain has done. This shows McCain cares only about himself to be a President of this country.

The position is not a joke and he has made it so with his pick of V.P. in Palin.

McCain criticizes Obama's lack of experience, then picks a VP with less.

And spare me the Governor of Alaska nonsense. No one in this country probably knew Alaska HAD a governor until an hour or so ago.

i would not take sarah too lightly. first impressions may have people thinking mccain has lost his mind. but sarah will have her say when she takes biden head on.

if the strategy should be to neutralize biden.......just watch the vp debate

this has the making of greatest upset in american politics

I will say this--I watched her on CSPAN from a taped interview in Feb this evening and she is no joke. She is intelligent and well-versed on energy issues. After watching that I think she WILL not only appeal to women but I think that a multitude of men will find her appealing to the point that they might be swayed that way. My personal opinion is she is not qualified and I would be scared to death if she was the President but when people actually get to see her in action--they will realize she is an IMPACT player. I stand by my statement--that Barack should've taken Hillary because this lady is going to impress.

if dems are going to say sarah is not qualified repubs will run campain ads saying dems are flip-flopping making reference to clinton's remarks about obama only to dismiss them to unify the party while trying to convince the rest of the voting world obama will be making false promises.....that's only my opinion.

getting back to your original post for obama taking hillary would probably produce a landside victory without a doubt. I just thinks hillary do want want to play second fiddle to obama....just my gut feeling.

OMG! Never again can they get away with calling Obama the celebrity candidate! Posing on the cover of Vogue is more shallow IMO than anything Barrack ever did. It's ironic that a lot of the false criticisms they made about Sen Obama are actually true criticisms of the VP McCain selected.

Women are going to have their day. We always tend to think that minorities were the only one's oppressed in the history of our country. Women have been oppressed since the dawn of time and still are in many countries and still do not have equal footing here. Women are going to see this lady who has 5 kids and has meteorically risen to this level and have their day in the sun. On top of it you know there will be tens-of thousands of white male independant voters who will still not want to vote for an African-American and see this very attractive assertive woman and be swayed if we want to talk honestly and bluntly.

yeah, i agree. i think it's a smart pick in a lot of ways, even though she is completely inexperienced. i think it's also mccain's way of trying to show he's slightly more progressive than bush, which might attract some voters who are in the middle of the political spectrum.

Are you serious? That's photo shopped. You see the Website at the bottom of the mag?

Seems my Photoshopped picture of Sarah Palin on the cover of Vogue magazine is the number one hit on Google Image Search, and it seems a lot of folks want to get a closer look. I even was tipped off that a couple news sites and blogs thought it was real (for varying lengths of time). Needless to say 583,815 visits is more than five times the hits it's taken me almost two years to amass. I figured once the Palin Fever dies down, certainly by November 5th, the hits will return to a more normal 500 a day.

Oh, ok. I just assumed "thekokon.com" was some foreign language website and there was some story about it inside.

Briggs this Palin lady is an accident waiting to happen :

McCain must be losing it.

Palin is embroiled in a bizarre scandal involving the former husband of her younger sister. They are in a custody battle. The story is right out of Jerry Springer, except that official corruption is involved.

The former husband of Sarah Palin's younger sister Molly, Mike Wooten, was a state trooper. He worked for the Alaska Public Safety Commissioner, Walt Monegan.

After Wooten petitioned for custody of the children, Palin's sister, her husband and other members of the family start making all kinds of charges against Wooten, that he was drinking on duty, shot a moose without a permit, shot a taser at his child. The serious charges were investigated and not substantiated.

Confidential parts from Wooten's personnel file somehow got into the hands of Palin's sister's divorce lawyer.

Then, the Alaska Commissioner of Public Safety, Walt Monegan, was fired by Governor Palin.

Monegan has since said that he was pressured by Palin's husband and others in governor's office to fire Wooten, but he refused because of lack of any evidence, so he was fired.

Now, it appears there is a coverup - Palin's official Blackberry communications and other emails about Wooten are not being released.

Look at the links below, she has female issues.

Sarah Palin kids names...

Track, Bristol, Willow, Piper & Trig Palin are pretty odd names.
Do you disagree?

Plus the fact that she's taking on this VP race while she has a 4 month old Downs Syndrome child. To me that means that she has totally written off being a good, loving, providing, mother of that child. If either she or McCain, ever mention "Family Values," I will puke.

What does five kids have to do with being second in command when it comes to running the free world? Here we go again. They got Bush in office because people felt that he “spoke their language” and that they could have a beer with him and now we’re going right back to that well.

Listen, this is all about Obama’s race and the resistance some have towards it. Point black. Hilary being vice president wouldn’t have sufficed because the black guy would have been on top. I mean, have you seen some of these PUMA’s in action? This is the “Reagan Democrat” wing of the party coming to the fore and I don’t mean that in a good way.

So women are going to vote for McCain --- just because he picked a woman. A thoroughly unqualified woman at that. Well that’s not transparent! If this rings true then it doesn’t speak well about the intelligence of said women, and we’re going to be in for another Republican led bumpy ride.

All the Republican talking points just vanished concerning experience. But intellectual honesty has very little currency in this climate.
