I would be very happy with this trade. Personally I don't like Crittenton, but I really don't know too much about him. Randolph for Darko and Jaric is a little low for me but acceptable(I would lie a top 15 or 20 protected, but so be it).

Well what don't you like about him?

Personally, I think it's just the fact I know nothing about him. LOL. I know it is probably a crappy reason, but that's it. What I do know about him is he couldn't earn time over a struggling Farmar and Derek Fisher early last season when the Lakers where just sort of idling, so that is what is sticking in my head.

To me he is unproven when compared to the other 2 alternative PG's Memphis can trade. What else plays into the "dislike" of getting him is the alternatives Memphis already has. I know my Mayo dream is dead but Lowery and Conley have a better track record to me.

Someone said in another thread that Lowery and Duhon may be too much of one thing not enough of another, and I can buy into that. Give me something like Conley(who was a Golden boy 2 years ago) and Milicic and I think I would make the trade with no second thoughts.

Crittenton to me is just......eh......

Balkman sucks, we shouldnt have expected to get anything back for him.

who would u rather have on this roster, Balkman or Jefferies?

TMS you know the answer to that question relies on more than just basketball ability. Jeffries has a large contract, which is why Balkman was sent packing, but I think Jeffries is a better basketball player than Balkman is.

I would love to have Darko for Zacho!
If you are still following the team and reading sites like this, there is nothing, short of your own demise, that is going to throw you off this train.

what difference does the contract make? Balkman was let go to open up a roster spot... we coulda just bought out Jefferies & unloaded his useless ass... at least Balkman can play a little & provide some exciting dunks & fastbreaks... i don't agree w/u that Jefferies is a better player than Balk... i've seen Balk put up some pretty impressive statlines when given the minutes & he's way more fun to watch.

Well obviously the contract makes a big difference because, we weren't going to buy it out just to open a roster spot.

I think Jeffries is going to have a solid year in this D'Antoni offense, this offense most resembles the one that Jeffries played in at Indiana U and he was a very good player there. I'm seeing a big year for him this year.

Memphis just signed the Iranian team's center. Would this make the Darko/Randolph deal more likely? I would assume so. Is the signing a prelude to a trade? Could Walsh actually be thinking of Darko, who just turned 23, as a Smits (who started at age 22)-type project? We will see.

By the way, I would not want to say that Balkman "sucks," but people are hanging on too much to a few memories which stirred you from a player who never should have been picked where he was in the first place. The #2 pick we got for him- which should be in the first third of that round, is about where Balkman should have been picked originally.

I would really like to give Darko a shot here and if we can get him for ZBo and Jaric's contract then it is money well spent. We also get Lima in the stands. WooHoo!

Back to Darko for a sec. He's never gonna be that elite C/PF Dumars thought he was gonna be, that much is obvious, but with enough minutes (say 30 mins. a night) and a defined role I say he could settle into an Andris Biedrins/Samuel Dalembert-type player production-wise, maybe even a LaMarcus Aldridge provided he ever got enough touches on the offensive end.

07-08 stats for these three players compared to Darko:

Biedrins (22 yrs. old) - 27.3 mins., 10.5 pts., 9.8 rb., 1.2 blk. 62.6% FG, 62% FT, 7.1 shots/game
Dalembert (27 yrs. old) - 32.2 mins., 10.5 pts., 10.4 rb., 1.7 blk., 51.3% FG, 70.7% FT, 8 shots/game
Aldridge (23 yrs. old) - 34.9 mins., 17.8 pts., 7.6 rb., 1.24 blk., 48% FG, 76.2% FT, 15.26 shots/game

Milicic (23 yrs. old) - 23.8 mins., 7.2 pts., 6.1 rb., 1.6 blk., 43.8% FG, 55.4% FT, 7.14 shots/game

Now the first three players all have defined roles and play about 8-10 mins. more a night on average (something Darko's not had since joining the NBA). Now with 30+ mins., I say Milicic matches Biedrins' and Dalembert's numbers easily. Which is why I bring up Aldridge. Not saying he'll be as good as Aldridge offensively, but I know he gets less than half his shot attempts at the basket on a nightly basis and we know he's got much better offensive ability and potential than either Biedrins or Dalembert (good footwork inside, nice looking lefty jumper with range out to about 15-20 ft.).

With enough PT I believe we'll eventually see a better player than Biedrins or Dalembert and maybe as good an all-around player as LaMarcus Aldridge as long as he puts the work in to improve. We'll prob. never be comparing this kid to Patick Ewing or David Robinson (nor any of these other 3 guys for that matter), something I think Detroit hoped when they selected him that high in the LeBron James draft a few yrs. ago, but there's a good chance we could at least see a well-rounded combination of these other players, and that would hardly be something to sneeze at.

Has two years on his contract- yes/no??

We lease him for the two years, we evaluate him- and then we decide whether or not he is worth resigning. If he plays like he has been playing, he is a backup, and you sign him for backup $$. If he actually improves, you just have decide whether you want to pay him the extra $$.

And, as some have pointed out, if you get Jaric in this deal, you have the the Lima bonus.

LOL. Hey, no one has any reason to believe in Jeffries, I agree with you. I just think he's going to have a good year, this offense suits his abilities(don't laught) quite well.
