I'd take Baker in an instant, I like the idea of 2TE sets and Boss can block. I'm all for this route if they choose to go that way. I'll let Reese do his job though, he's doing an A+ job right now.

Shockey was very very insecure. He new that if the Giants didn't win the superbowl again he would take the majority of the blame. He wanted a bigger role so that he could say he did his part because he had 80 catches & 1000 yards no matter the outcome. Giants didn't want to change his role though, they liked him blocking so he forced there hand.

The sad part with Shockey is we won the superbowl, he should have just came back more hungry and looked to do what it took to help the Giants win another. Its one thing if the Giants were losing and he wanted a bigger role, but we won the superbowl man. I guess he is to fragile to handle the humbling experience of your team winning the superbowl without him.

We need a that 2 TE set though. As of now though we might be looking to play a lot of 4 Wr sets instead. Burress, Toomer, Smith, Manningham

i dunno if a 5th rounder would do it for Baker tho... how high would u go for him if push came to shove?

I think you hit it. 5th rounder. Maybe we can use the one we got from the Saints.

Just something else to consider about this Shockey trade and it's good news for us.

The Giants would get the Saints' 2009 first-round draft pick if LB Jonathan Vilma plays in 85 percent of snaps this season and then goes on to sign an extension with the Saints.
Under that scenario, the Jets would upgrade to the Saints second-round pick which would in turn bump the Giants up to the first-rounder. The Saints fifth-rounder would fall out of the Giants deal if that happens.

interesting... i wonder if they'll monitor Vilma next year to make sure he doesn't log that many plays for them... giving up a 1st rounder would be tough.

We shouldn't offer more than that. In fact they could end up cutting him at some point.

That's exactly what they're going to do. But if Vilma comes out like a lion at the gate and plays like a probowler and they are in playoff contention, things might change.

Just root for Vilma. If they play play Vilma only part time and still make the playoffs we just get a worse pick. Go Vilma!

I cant believe all the hate that Shockey is getting right now.

I wonder if you all are going to feel this way and when the Saints run over the NFC and their new offense. Drew Brees made A. Gates a pro bowler, not the other way around.

You dont think he's a head case?!? He basically forced the Giants into making this trade, you his cousin or something?

On top of that, the scales are tipping on the negative side between his productivity and the problems he creates

What exactly has Shockey done to be called a head case?? Scream at Eli for over/under throwing passes? GOOD! Eli is a bum.

Its just funny that Boss makes ONE catch and all of sudden he's the next best thing....Dont get me wrong, I hope it works out for us (Giants fan), but I dont think it was a good trade

You really think Eli's a bum?

Greatest sports moment of my life --- hell, one of the greatest moments period. Awash in tears.

Any Giant fan who bashes Eli should be ashamed of themselves. Do you know what that team saved us from? You have no idea.

i will say it's a close second to the joy i felt when the '96 Yanks won the WS & when Aaron Boone hit the HR to send the Bosux fans home crying in the '03 ALCS... but it was definitely the most satisfying SB win of my lifetime, better than the joy i felt when they won in '86 & in '90, because of how much of an underdog they were & how it seemed everyone & their momma were ready to concede the trophy over to the Pats except for the diehard Giant fans... plus the fact that i won a nice chunka cheese off the sports betting sites helped matters.
