is he going to be a better pro than Nate Robinson? Who probably has more PG skills..

or is he going to be a better pro than marbury, who we didn't win with either...

He won the summer league mvp averaging 29pts per with 49% shooting. Also pulled down 4.8 rebs per.

He's not gonna get those numbers in the NBA but there is no questioning this guys talent right way.

Like I said, I like Gallo, but Bayless shoulda been the pick.

Von Wafer 2007 Las Vegas Summer League MVP:

24.2ppg, .537fg%, 3.0rpb, 1.6apg.

Von Wafer just turned 23 and doesn't have a contract for next year.

Yeah I was excited to have him in SL this year but he basically had no impact.

I think we need to get away from guys that have one skill, that's why i like Gallo. He can handle it, pass it, shoot it and take his man off the dribble is 19 years old and still growing.

Are guys are either offense with no defensive skills or the opposite. I'm sure that would move bayless if the right deal came around and I wouldn't doubt Portland would trade him for Lee since they have pg depth.

But Roberson is putting up numbers in summer league, he is a fringe talent. Lampe average 17 a game, there is little defense played it's pickup basketball so scorers usually have inflated stats.

Let's see our kid really play first before we declare the pick the wrong one. Besides we are looking to increase player value with our coaches system these two are great pr types that will build up player value, i firmly believe they will mold nate, jamal, and others into nice assets to move.

If Bayless was drafted by the Knicks, what role would have have on the team?

He would be the best guard--we dont have good guards--our frontcourt is way better than our backcourt. He would give us the guy who can penetrate and move the ball up quickly and hit the open J and a higher rate than our chuckers can.

Sometimes you are right--numbers can be deceiving in the SL---but numbers in combination with his speed athletic ability penetration skills power and shooting accuracy sure tells a bunch. Why did they suddenly pick him for the select team? By osmosis?

I think the problem here is that a lot of us liked bayless before the draft... I know I did, a lot.. but I also knew that it would be redundant to get him knowing we have guys like crawford, nate and marbury still on board.. Nevertheless, I wanted him, because I thought at the very least he would be the best talent available. After doing some research on gallinari and understanding why walsh took him, it makes sense for me now... the problem I have is that now, becuase we didn't pick bayless, all of a sudden we are doomed, because he is going to be some superstar in the NBA because of a few SL games... I don't think there is one person on this site that ever said this kid could not score.. we all knew he could do that.. we all knew that!!!! no one is saying he won't be a good player. I think a lot of us doubt that he will be what we need, as a piece to build with, considering we have several pieces like that... Gallo gives us something we haven't had. Young, tall, skilled, good character and a load of potential.. we just never had that on this team... I can understand passing on bayless!! If NY fans want something "new" that does the same thing, lets just overpay for Ben gordon in a sign and trade..

Briggs the USA Select team argument is a poor one, Aaron Brooks along with Frye. That tells you all you need to know.

did anyone hear say Bayless cant play? I think everyone in the world knows he can score. The debate (about his value) revolves around his size and his ability to play PG. He's 6'2 and about 185 pounds. How many winning NBA have shooting guards that size? Maybe he can be taught PG? Like Monta Ellis can be taught? I dont know.. but is this guy a building block player at pick 6? Knick management see's Gallinari as a building block player.. whether its at the 3 or 4. A 6'10 guy that can score from anywhere with PG skills.

Only time will tell... Gallo might be the next John Wallace. Look at him score.. and thats all he does. I dont know, but Briggs I am getting this sense from you that Walsh made a huge mistake picking Gallo over Bayless and that seems horribly premature. Add to that Nate Robinson. Is Bayless better than Nate right now? Does he have more upside? Nate could really have a break out year under DAntoni.. why draft Bayless when there are equally good options in other areas?

No, I don't think he sucks. I just think everyone here, including yourself, is jumping the gun by judging these guys on summer league games when the games are glorified pick-up basketball.
