YouTube also has a Holland video where he supposedly scored 50 against AJ Milano. Gallinari did guard him a number of times. His D was ok, but Holland seemed to be having a Jordan game- seemed to be hitting a lot of jumpers from the outside, even with Gallinari's hand in his face. Holland looks to be 6'5"-6'6.5" tops, and graduated from DePaul in 2003-4, so he did not play with Chandler if my math is correct. He is not child- he is 26. Seems to have some talent- wonder if he can play on a team and not as an individual.
The clips do illustrate some limits on how Gallinari will be defensively if he plays small forward against a quick 6'6"-6'7" SF, but for a kid going up against a guy as physically mature and quick as Holland, I was pleased to see how he responded in terms of his defensive positioning. Got beat big time of some drives, and game up the baseline once, but Holland was beating everyone on this day, and Gallinari was not the only one guarding him. Hope that Gallinari does not have flashbacks when he sees Holland. I'm sure the probably saw Holland when they were scouting Gallinari. He should be one to watch.

Maybe he lost a step when he shot up to 6'9 as he is getting used to his height. He also looked like someone determined not to get beat by his man, maybe does play defense after all. https://vote.nba.com/en Vote for your Knicks.

Posted by VDesai: Exactly..... My thing is if a guy like Holland can dominate a league like this scoring the ball, why hasn't he gotten a shot to play in the league? He's american......screw drafting him. The dude needs to be signed some where. Knicks currently have a hole @ back up shooting guard. Hopefully this guy and the rest get a fair shake. Posted by Paladin55: I think this gives more credence to that fact that he probably should be groomed to play pf. If he's a legit 6'10, he will definitely have problems guarding wing players who are better and more explosive than a Delonte Holland. If Gallo can add muscle, in a couple of years I think he can make for a pretty good pf and we can take advantage of his shooting and playmaking ability but drawing PF's out to the perimeter while trying to guard him. |

I hope Walsh clears out some roster spots so we can keep some of these guys around. They might not be talented, but many of the guys from last years squad really knew how to hustle and play defense.

Posted by newyorknewyork:Posted by nyk4ever:Posted by Paladin55: From my understanding Gallinari's defense was above average his first year where he was not asked to do much offensively. I am not sure if height had anything to do with it. His defense seem to suffer last year by alot. Some speculated that because his role change he focus less on defense. BTW, this was one guy who gave him a lot of trouble defensively. I remember Holland when he was in the big east. And yep, he was running buddies with Chandler. my info about Gallinari is from Draftexpress.com, they are some international loving boys. Chandler and Holland did not overlap at DePaul (Chandler started there the year after Holland left)

Look I think it's starting to be a bit clearer that Gallo is a legit prospect. When we get a chance to see him in action that will give us a further look, but I just think the Knicks did their homework on this guy and I don't think Walsh would take a risk on a guy that was his 1st reall move as GM. I think it was an important pick for him and the org. and he is no fool.
How many articles and how much footage do we have to see before we start to get the idea that he's legit. |

I'm just looking forward to seeing how Gallo moves around on the court. Whether he scores 2points or 30points really means nothing to me. The only thing I'm looking for in these summer-league games is to see how he moves around the court and to see if he's going to stand up to the toughness. That's really it.

Well cleveland is first....who do they have on their squad?
This is probably the most anticipated summer league ever. I can't wait to see this kid play. Subscribe to my Podcast https://youtube.com/c/DiehardknicksPodcast

Posted by EnySpree:Posted by VDesai: I think the benefit of American players in Euro is they learn how to really shoot the ball and over time with those advanced skills have the ability to come back and play NBA devoid of outside shooting. The American player with his new found shooting prowless is at an advatage over there because of athletic ability in most cases--that is why they are the MVP's and mostly the better players. My hope for Danillo is a nice showing. Im not putting any number on him--I would like top see what he can do--sometimes the ball goes in sometime sit doesnt--its the way he plays which Im interested in most. With what Ive seen Im looking for rebounding passing how he runs the floor some ballhandling and how he uses it etc... Im not focused on the shooting I feel he can do that. I want to see everything else. RIP Crushalot😞
