i am with everyone about van horn. i think he would be a disaster. but i do not understand why people are shooting down lafrentz. he would definately be a top 5 center in the east. he is young and a good shot blocker. he can rebound fairly well which was our major weakness last year. he can shoot inside and out. he does have post moves but most of you are craving a constant " back to the basket" center. well, i have news for you. they are an endangered species. only shaq and mourning fit the criteria. seven year commitment on the top center in the east is not a bad commitment. it means solidifying one of the most important positions in basketball. especially when good seven foot centers are rare. the biggest question i have is reaf's durability. every year, he goes down with an injury. do we want to commit to another " dice"?

Because we should not be signing anyone with longer deals than Allan right now. the goal should be to be under the cap the year Allan's deal expires.
Don't forget Zo is in the east, bad kidney and all he's still better than lafrentz.

With the trade for Van Horn the Knicks now desperately need a shot blocking center. I think that Ratliff would be the best fit but I don't think that LaFraentz is a bad pick up either. I believe Raef was second in shot blocking last year. The reality of the Knicks is that they are over the salary cap for along time. Moves to improve the team right now will not revolve around lowering the Knicks cap number. While the Knicks got bigger by acquiring Van Horn, their need for a true shot blocking center also became greater.

Hey NYK8, good pick! I had suggested the same person in Dampier whose very tough inside with great shot-blocking capabilities. He stands at 6'11 with broad shoulders but not too offensively minded. That's ok though cause we'll be getting the offense from others. It's too bad, we can't get him cause there's no one Golden State wants from our team...
