Isiah inherited a team with nothing. They were old, slow, sucked, and were similarly capped out

Saying he "destroyed" this team sort of infers that he actually inherited a roster worth a damn

Truth is we have sucked for a while now and it pre-dates Isiah. He was not the man who started this, he merely carried the torch for a GM prior who was just as incompetent if not more so

Scott Layden is likely the happiest guy in America now, because the history books will almost totally forget the absolutely inexcusable job he did as GM and the pile of shiz that he left in the lap of whoever was going to succeed him

Oh my god. A poster who can remember back further than this afternoon's lunch! Where have you been?

Thank you. Thank you for saving me from having to retype my standard "Isiah Thomas cannot destroy that which is already destroyed" post.

To elaborate a little further on your point, this team is actually in a much better position to reconstruct itself with 4 strong trade assets (Lee, Robinson Marbury's contract, Rose's contract.) 2 decent trade assets: (Crawford, Curry), and our big albatross, Zach Randolph, can actually play basketball pretty well. Somebody always need points and rebounds from a big man. He is not untradeable by any stretch.

I'm probably missing some from there.

On the other hand, Thomas had to figure out how to move the worst players in existence with huge long-term contracts, and they were old too. Everything hinged on Houston, who was done, but still trying to play even as of last year. Isiah inherited a much worse situation basketball-wise.

This current team can be molded and re-made into something less repulsive rather quickly. Either by breaking it down and going for cap, or the more likely and usual aiming for a quick fix. Not so with layden's mess.

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

Walsh isn't a magician and he can't fix what Isiah did overnight but he messed up the draft big time. The difference between this draft and the Artest draft is that there are so many other good players that fans will talk about that the Knicks could have had. Bayless, Gordon, Augustine, Armstrong, Lopez etc. In addition to messing up, Thorn and Kiki made the Knicks look stupid. They had an amazing draft and cleared a ton of cap space. The fact that Gallinari was scouted by Isiah is the icing on the cake.

How is it so clear to you that Gallinari will be a collosal failure while Bayless, Gordon Augustine, Armstrong and Lopez will go on to be good or even great players? I wasn't happy with the Danny pick, but that's only because it may have been too early. I would have liked to see them get something more for their pick... but I have no problem with Danilo being a part of the Knick future...

You know I gonna spin wit it

Isiah didnt destroy anything, because this franchise was in complete tatters when he arrived. Zeke maintained that status, nothing more.

Grabbing Mayo would have been the shot in the arm this franchise so desperately needed. This is possibly my worst day as a Knick fan.

Time to turn the page.

Both Scott Layden and Isiah Thomas are gone. Deservedly so.

+1000. Let's focus on what Pringles and DW are doing now.

Layden ran over the franchise with his car but left it breathing.

Isiah put a bullet in it's head and then cut it's heart out for good measure.

Yes. You are obviously a poster who lacks a knowledge of the Knicks legacy. Layden destroyed the franchise. Isiah brought it back from the dead and has left it in good shape for Walsh to finish up the job and grab the credit. You'll see. In three or rour years, the Knicks'll be back on track, and it will be all due to Isiah's excellent work in bringing the Knicks back from Layden's mistakes.

You make a good point. I guess I didn't analyzze the situation thouroughly before I passed judgement on Isiah. I had a chance to review his track record and gosh darnit, we need him back
