Just read the Nets are trying to move up to #5. They want Galinari bad.

why would they want galinari now they have yi?

---------------

The New Jersey Nets and the Grizzlies are in talks about a trade that would send the No. 5 pick to New Jersey for the No. 10 pick and a future first-round pick. Pick would be Kevin Love or Joe Alexander.

I'll have a Keg party with everyone on this board invited, if the Clippers do that. We can celebrate that someone is a worse manager than Isiah.

that doesn't really effect us at all... we're still gonna have to choose between either Bayless or Gallinari at this point unless Walsh makes a move up to #3.

Minnesota is run by Kevin McRetard......christ.

He doesn't need a guard or a big man. He needs to pick Brook Lopez and stop playing.

If he does that, and the historical retards traded up to take Westbrook? Then Bayless is gonna be a Knick. I can't see the Knicks drafting Love and I can't see Memphis passing Mayo @ #5 if he falls.

Can we live with Bayless @ the point? I don't know.......

ESPN is reporting that the Sonics will trade the No. 4 pick in the draft to the Clippers in exchange for L.A.'s No. 7 pick and a protected 2009 first-round pick if things go as expected in the Top 3 picks of the draft.
Ric Bucher is reporting that the Clippers want to assure themselves of getting Eric Gordon with the fourth pick. However, this deal will not go through if the Timberwolves pass on O.J. Mayo and he's available at No. 4

it's that same old argument... draft based on need or take BPA... Mayo is BPA at #3... i'm sure they don't wanna be known as the team that passed up on the next star G cuz they had to fill a need in the frontcourt... if they take Mayo they can still work trades to fill their need that would net them max value out of the pick... letting Mayo slip would be the dumb move to make.

Yeah, I just saw this. Basically, if Mayo is selected at 3, then the Clips will get the 4th pick. But if Minny select Lopez/Love...the deal is off and the Sonics will take Mayo.

That was completely uncalled for. A total blindside shot.

Nice work. Couldn't have done it better myself.

I can't keep up.

Nets moving up to #5 to take Love? Makes sense for the nets.

Bayless? Gallinari? This has gotta be the most exciting draft day in a long time.

Our only chance at Mayo is to over pay Minny or bowl over Miami.

I'd offer Minny Curry the 6 and Balkman for the 3 and Walker and Jaric(not sure if it works. Can't use tradechecker).

I'd offer Riles close to the same package for Blount, the #2, and filler.

Curry would never survive a Riley practice session... dollars don't work either bro... only feasible deal w/MIA we could offer IMHO is something like:

Malik's expiring, D Lee & the #6 for Blount & the #2

even still, they have no need for Lee & they lose out on the player they want if they drop that low... no deals w/MIA i don't think, or w/MIN for that matter (involving Curry i mean)... they got Jefferson so they won't want Curry.

They want to move Jefferson to Pf. Currywould fit nicely for them, imo.

i disagree... a guy like Camby would make a lot more sense for that young team... veteran who's still performing at a high level & complements a low post player well... Curry would clog up the lane next to Al Jeff... not a good match, just like Curry & Zach here.

This is what I want to see:

(1) Bayless slip to us at #6. He's much better than Russell Westbrook, it's not even close. I can't even believe that's even a discussion around here. I know he's going to the Clippers now so I shouldn't get my hopes up.....

(2) A Lee trade to the middle of the first round. Lee/filler to Sac. for Shelden Williams and #12 or Lee/filler to Portland for Sergio Rodriguez and #13 continue to be my two favorite scenarios.

(3) We buy an additional 1st rounder. We're hearing now that the Spurs are selling #26 --- BUY THAT GODDAMN PICK!!!!!!!! Select Courtney Lee for some consistent shooting off the bench.

(4) Sign Justin Williams to a summer league deal and Louis Amundson to a LLE deal --- these two guys replace most of Lee's intangibles and even add a few new ones.

-------------

I know the Clips are taking Bayless at #4 now, but say we added:

Sergio Rodriguez
Danilo Gallinari with #6
JaVale McGee at #13
Courtney Lee at #26
Justin Williams
Louis Amundson

I know that's 6 new players with very little room on the roster but I'd worry about that later.

The top of the draft remained in turmoil less than four hours before the first pick.

A report Thursday afternoon that the Clippers had reached an agreement to move up to No. 4 in the draft, with the Sonics moving back to No. 7, was dismissed as premature by a league source with knowledge of the negotiations. It is a fact that the two teams have been talking, and that it could be consummated if O.J. Mayo is available at No. 4.

This could mean that the Clippers want Mayo to play for them next year as the No. 4 pick. Or, as another league source noted, it could suggest a bigger deal is in the works with Miami.

Under this proposal, the Clippers could send the rights to Mayo and Elton Brand to Miami for the rights to Beasley (the No. 2 pick) along with Shawn Marion. The Clippers could then either sign Marion to an extension or allow him to become a free agent, generating cap relief in 2009 when his $17.9 million salary comes off the books. The bottom line for the Clippers: They would get an exceptional talent in Beasley on a cheap rookie contract in exchange for the far more expensive Brand, who will make $16.4 million next season if he doesn't opt out this summer.

Miami has been putting out the word that it is interested in moving the No. 2 pick in hopes of following the example of the Celtics, who used their lottery pick in last year's draft to trade for Ray Allen as part of their successful attempt to win a championship immediately. The Heat would come out of this swap with the Clippers with Brand and Mayo to go with a healthy Dwyane Wade, which would enable them to challenge Boston and Detroit in the Eastern Conference one year after having the worst record in the league.

• Speculation of a trade involving Miami, however, was dependent on the Timberwolves' using the No. 3 pick to take Kevin Love instead of Mayo.

Word around the league for some time is that Minnesota VP Kevin McHale is enamored with Love. On the morning of the draft, however, a rumor about Love's knees was spreading around the league.

A league exec who has studied the medical reports said Love underwent surgery in his early teens to have his kneecaps realigned. According to that executive, his team doctor had studied the medical records and approved Love as ready to play in the NBA. Doctors with other teams were known to have made a similar assessment.

Each team has its own medical staff, and each doctor may make a unique evalutation. But none of this information about Love's knees was expected to serve as a last-minute impediment to his standing in the lottery.
