Assuming the first five picks are as expected, who is your choice with the sixth pick.

There's a harmonic convergence between the first five players selected between nbadraft.net and draftexpress.com. Both have the first five going as Rose Beasley Mayo Bayless Love Many here seem to agree with that group of five in some order will be the first five players selected. My question is who you would use on the sixth pick. Let's keep it focused on individual players. We can consider the possibility of trading up or trading down in another thread.
Anthony Randolph
Eric Gordon
Russell Westbrook
Brook Lopez
Danilo Gallinari

imho, the knicks should do anything they can to get to #3.

Totally agree with this. Moving into the top three allows us to get a potential franchise player (Beasley or Mayo will be there at three). Everyone has been crying about all the role players we continue to draft (Balk, Chandler, Lee, Nate etc), but now we have a chance to finally get the player that can help pull some of these role players together as a legit team.

This is a big draft for us considering we dont own one in 2010. With D'Antoni on board, I dont expect another 23 win season. D'Antoni will get the most out of this bunch and that will land us in the middle of the pack in next years draft. We have to move up.

I think thats where we differ a little. As inept as Minny has been over the years, I can't see Mchale passing on the third best player in the draft. True, Minny already has a few undersized 2 guards, (McCants, Foye) but Mayo is better than both of them. I dont see them taking Love who plays the same position as Jefferson and I think 3 is a little too high for Lopez. Thats why I think it is possible to swap with Minny, but we really need a good package for that.

If I were the GM of the Wolves, I would draft Mayo in a second, then again we are talking about Kevin McHale here and I think when you are talking about Kevin McHale all bets are off, which is why I don't think the'll take Mayo.

And about Love/Jefferson.. I don't think it really matters what position either one of them plays IF they were paired together. Personally, I think that would be a quite a nice frontline and that Love and Jefferson would compliment each other quite well. Again, don't get me wrong, Mayo is the guy this team should choose, but I just don't think McHale will do it.

I tend to agree but I'm not sure its my head or my heart doing my thinking.

I believe McHale will actually go with Lopez -- don't forget this is a guy who played all those years along side Robert Parish.

I believe Love will be on Memphis's radar and Gosh darn OJ better fall to us.

Who should McHale take -- probably Mayo or Love but I just think he's going to go big.

Just take Randolph as the BPA and everyone will be happy shortly there after--he is a no-brainer pick unless Mayo falls or the Knicks become infatuated with Love. I havent seen Love play since he lost 20 pounds and he sounds like he is moving much better. If that is the case it's a whole different avenue because of his size and skill level

If the Knicks really LOVE LOVE") they are going to have to bargain with Seattle

If those 5 are gone that would be absolutely the worst case scenario. I'm hoping that any of the 5 will be available for us.

if those 5 are gone, that means rose + beasley fall to the knicks.

one of those 5 will be there at #6.

Huh? Rose and Beasley are part of the 5...

briggs list:

I think right now that our pool will come out of these 5 players

Mayo
Randolph
Love
Bayless
Westbrook

Was talking about the 5 in the poll question....

I would take Russell Westbrook and stay away from Anthony Randolph.

I picked Randolph but is he a winner? He's very talented but can you see him being an even #3 guy on a team? I dont know if I do. I could see Eric Gordon being a #3 guy. I didnt like him at all, but lately Ive been warming to it. Westbrook? Eh?

Rose and Mayo will both be #1 guys, Beasley will be Derrick Coleman, and B Lopez will be a servicable center, at best. Love will be an all star and I think Bayless will be a #3 guy.

All in all the 3 game winning streak late really screwed us. And of course Chicago killing us all over again.

Ugh... all this Anthony Randolph love is making me sick. I know he's got some raw tools, but that's it. He did nothing to make his mark at the NCAA level. Him panning out will have more to do with luck than destiny.

So should we only choose upper class man in the draft?

15.6 pts 8.5 reb 2.3 blocks as a freshmen in the SEC at 18 years old?? This is a legit 6-10+ kid who is still growing and has somewhere between a 35-38 inch vertical jump and handles the ball like a guard. What is not to like--he brings a lot of diversity. If he's playing at this level now--what would he be able to do at LSU 20 and inch taller and 15-20 pounds heavier 2 years from? He would easily project to 20/22-11/12-3-2/3. He has a lot of skills that are attractive in the uptempo game.

If we can't get Mayo, Randolph is next on my list. Then Westbrook.

edit: i like the Minnesota trade ideas dj and nyk4ever proposed. i'd love to add ryan gomes.

I think we should sit at 6th and use our assets for another pick.

Randolph/Love are great guys to start Mike'D with. Finding a shooting guard or small forward is easy compared to finding bigs that do what Mike D likes to do and the aren't soft/bad rebounds/bad defensively. We have two players who can man the four spot that are skilled and Rebound/block/defend.

I say take them.............. there isn't a franchise player in this draft any way, the "we must have Mayo" stuff really leaves me miffed.

If the Knicks want Love they are going to have to make a deal with Seattle where they pick Love and we pick their player and we throw in 3mm$

No he is a absolute high risk, high reward. No one is talking about him in the top 5. He has a lot of holes in his game and isnt a safe pick. You take chances 15-30 not 6.

gordon is too short to start long term.
randolph is a risk.
love/mayo may not be there. (and love may be a good complimentary big man like brad miller)

the only problem is that if they trade the pick, there's only 1 more first rounder until 2011.

knicks are in a tough spot...they have to trade up to 3...otherwise i think they should trade the pick...

In his own interview the guy all but said he would be a project coming into the league comment..."I'm a Fast Learner I may not make the All-Star right way but I can become one down the road." Which is a red flag. Not to say they guy doesn't deserve a chance to be picked 6 to prove people wrong but

Trade down DJ and take Augustin or Westbrook and then hope a Rush is there around 20.

can the knicks, who have been bad for 7 straight seasons afford to pick this guy at 6?

will d'antoni be patient enough with him? beware of coaches coming from elite teams to rebuilding ones...they may not have the amount of patience needed...
