As soon as Layden gave Houston that ridiculous contract, Spree became obsolete in this town. Spree at the 2 in Minnie, will give that team a chance at the 2nd round for once, though I bet Kandi blows it there. Heart? Sure, for himself. That's his problem. I like his game a lot, but not at the 3, and not with his willingness to disrupt morale (hidden injury, public criticism of his superiors, lawsuits, etc.)
Keith is a better 3 than Spree. KVH played great last season, until, you guessed it, the playoffs. If Chaney hated Camby's attitude, wait until he watches KVH turn into a postseason punk. But, that's the point so many of you don't get. We're trying to get into the playoffs, the first round. KVH gets you to the first round by having a solid season. Still, it seems no one likes having him on the team. But, then again, Spree was also a problem with teammates, and didn't get good rebound numbers. If you aren't getting rebounds, you're not a forward, you're a backward. I'm sure Keith will be a letdown, but Spree had to go. There was no way Dolan would tolerate him one more season.
Spree will always have fans in NYC, which is good. He gave the team excitement. But last year he lost a step and caused the team to miss the playoffs by missing those first games. For that, he gets to play for a team that will never make the Finals, because they play in the West.
If the Knicks get Theo, they have a better team than last year, probably a team that gets 42-45 wins. And remember, if the Knicks make the playoffs, they make some much-needed cash, and Scott gets to keep his job another year. That's "the plan". Get used to it.
