Shoot better that Westbrook? I don't doubt that. He's less of a shooter & more of a defender, slasher, PG prospect. I don't think EG is nearly a better shooter than Mayo, who has as pure a stroke as anybody. Also shot 41% on 3's, vs. better comp.

Yeah....but one thing Craw has is a GREAT handle. As you say, EG doesn't have that. Now compare him to Mayo or Bayless or Westbrook & the ball handling deficiency is even more noteworthy.

Craw's handle is less impressive on the move, usually because he gets knocked off balance so easily. So, the comparison is that both have to settle for off balance shots because they lack either the ball-handling, strength or quickness to make strong move. In the strength department, Gordon is clearly superior and that gives him more options both off the dribble and off screens.

The other prospects are superior, without question, in terms of ball-handling and the ability to create a shot. Thats part of the reason why Gordon will fall.

Westrbook is a better shooting guard prospect than a point guard prospect.

Offensively, Gordon reminds me a little of Jamal Crawford with potentially a much better jumpshot (not a bad player by any stretch). The issue with Gordon is he needs a lot of space to operate off the dribble - he looks good on the break when he has a head of steam, but he won't have that luxury in the NBA. In other words, he's fast in the open court but not very quick against a set defense. His ball-handling is also quite suspect. So, in a half-court set, he'll likely throw you a couple of jukes and shoot a long J. At his size, that means a low percentage shot.

Since when was half-court sets all about clearing out and going one one one? If you are so worried about his handle, we can keep Craw and his and1 tricks and watch him juke and fake and throw up off balance Jays at a 39% clip.

Gordon would be great at curling off screens on the wing, flexing out to the corner off down screens and lining up on the strong side with Curry. Or on the weak side after the ball is swung a few times for an open jay. Gordon's handle is alot better then people give him credit by the way.

No way you take Westbrook at 6 as a shooting guard with his size. I am trying to figure out how EG who isnt athletic blocked 20 shots and westbrook and Bayless blocked 9 combined?

Come on dude...you're not comparing EG to Wbrook defensively now, are you? Westbrook is far & away the best perimeter defender in the draft.

Gordon or Westbrook wouldn't be the guys I'd be most looking for at 6, but if we traded down or got an additional pick, I'd be happy with either at around 10. I like them both for different reasons. I'd give Westbrook the edge because we are terrible at perimeter defense.

I agree with that. You said EG doesnt get to the hole and works off screens. He shot more free throws than most guards then you said he wasnt as athletic as Bayless and Westbrook and I said how could a non athletic guy even blcok 20 shots. EG will be a better pro than Westbrook and will go higher in the draft and we will leave it at that

I think you're more than a little lost if you think Jamal is the type of player I'd like to keep.

Half-court offense is about pick and roll, first and foremost - and Gordon, despite his shooting, is a liability there because of inability to handle against close coverage. Although your vision of Gordon is very Rip Hamiltonesque - a guy who spots up, curls and fades, it seems to me that his game is predicated on initiating a move from the wing. Whether Gordon can become that type of player is up for grabs, but I'd rather select a player with more versatility to his game.

He might go higher in the draft but lets make a friendly wager on that better pro statement.

Gordon has the range to be a good player curling off screens. However, as King stated in this thread several times, and as I have already touched on, Gordon was top 5 I beleive in the NCAA as far as gettiing to the line. There is now way this guy is getting to the line without being able to put it on the deck and get to the hole.

I'm not suggesting that Gordon is completely incapable to bounce a ball on the floor. Just that he tends to lose the ball when he does it - at a rate of 3.6 turnovers per game.

Eric Gordon is the epitome of the players we have now--ME FIRST. I kind of laugh at the number 1 Marbury killer who has taken a liking to his guy. High TO's takes jump-shots at any angle from any range--not looking for teammates for a better shot. Defense when he feels like it. Forces way too much==powerful athletic yet not long and certainly not very tall for a 2 guard which will limit rebounding. Very poor distributor--it comes to him--it's going up. Because of his short arms he needs more space to operate and settles for 30 footers to create that space. Not good in the half-court--bigger players frustrate him and long players at the hoop alter his shot or make him TO. This is the exact type of prima dona me first player that dominate our roster.

i dont think he will be like that. When he and Derrick Rose played in a AAU tournament together he was very unselfish and the backcourt dominated. I think he will understand his role and be a fine pro. You arent worried about Westbrook size and stature if they play him as a shooting guard?

First off, while I don't like EG for all the reasons Briggs states (and I stated the same previously), King & Uptown made good points about his ability to draw fouls.

Re: Westbrook's size. I think its less of a worry b/c he gives you versatility as he is a prospect at both guard positions. He was also the only UCLA player who seemed to compete athletically vs. a super athletic Memphis team in the tourney.
