Erik Ainge is a very good QB. He has height and speed, but again not a ridiculous arm. Why can't we just combine Kellen's arm, Chad's accuracy and Ainge's mobility?!

He had a meniscus tear last year but this is a steal in round 5. He's better than a 5th round pick. He is long athletic and can make all of the throws with good accuracy. He looks like the kind of guy who can get it done--especially coming from Tennessee---the Jets have done a very good job. Now like any other sport--the guys now have to do it:) but we should be a much improved team.

Kiper said most teams had him rated with 3rd round ability.

I think the jets made a big mistake spending the kind of money they did in free agency. its all in and they just have too many question marks, and QB sure is the biggest.

Pennington is finished - to say teams cheat on him is being kind - you don't have to defend beyond 15 yards, and as long as they allow 11 players to be on defense, it clogs things up a lot.

Filling needs through free agency to give them the flexibility in the draft wasn't a mistake. Winning that completely meaningless last game of the year against the Chiefs was a big mistake. They could have had the #2 or definitely the #3 pick today. Typical Jets.

I think it looks like Gholston today which kinda worries me. He says he doesn't like practice and he disappears in games. That's not a good combination. If McFadden and Ryan are gone, I really hope they trade down but I don't think anybody would want to trade up to 6. I'd take Leodis McKelvin over Gholston at this point, or even Jonathan Stewart.

The Jets like to screw with their fan base as much as the Knicks do. The Jets have no intersest in winning a championship they just know that they are sold out for the next 20 years. Every time they let players go in free agency and try to replace them with lesser talent.

Thats the least true thing I've ever read.

Thats the truth. How can you explain such decisions as letting players like Vilma, Abrhams and Coles (to Washington only to get him back) go when they seem to be going in the right direction. This is a flaw in the organiztions thinking that gives the fans an unnecessary feeling of highs and lows. Don't get me wrong I want the Jets to do well I want all NY teams to do well, but there is a seed in the organization of the Jets that doesn't allow for them to go forward and when they do go forward they mange to make decisions to take a step back. If there ever was a a organiztion that was afraid of Success the Jets are a prime example of it.

I'm only going to talk about this offseason. I'm not going to blame the current management for what happened in the past. Vilma has been injury prone and is a terrible fit for the 3-4 that the Jets want to use. They already have a stud in Harris to replace Vilma. No big loss. Robertson is a bad fit for the 3-4 as well and Jenkins is a much better option. Pace is a better option than Hobson and there's no need to get into how much better Faneca is than any of the dead weight they tried at LG last year.

The Jets did a great job in filling all those huge needs. Now they have the flexibility to draft the Best Player Available.

exactly. It is called a plan, something we as knicks fans haven't seen from out basketball team in years.... I want to ask, what do you think about gholston and keller?

I think that Gholston was the only pick that the Jets could make at 6. He was the best player available and he filled a huge need for the Jets as a pass rusher. I think he's going to be a great fit, despite some concerns about his intensity. Best case scenario is he becomes the Jets equivalent to Osi Umenyiora. With Gholston and Pace coming from the outside and Jenkins taking up 2 linemen in the middle, teams are going to have a hell of a time matching up. I predict that Harris, Revis and Rhodes will get major consideration for the Pro Bowl. All of those guys, with the exception of Jenkins, are young and will get to grow together. Gholston was a good pick and the only pick they could have made.

Ok, I admit to having a knee-jerk reaction to drafting Keller but that's the normal reflex for any long suffering Jets fan when the team unexpectedly drafts a TE in the first round. Johnny Mitchell, Kyle Brady, Anthony Becht, it's not pretty. But after reading up on Keller and watching some of his play on youtube, the guy is basically the Red Zone target that I was hoping they would draft. At 6'3 245lbs with a 38 inch vertical, he should be able to physically dominate most CB's or safeties for position and with his speed he'll be really difficult for most LB's to cover in the seam. I can see what the Jets front office was thinking when making this trade and pick. The guy can be a weapon offensively and the Jets don't have anybody even remotely like him. He doesn't block but the Jets don't need him for that, he just needs to catch balls and be a big target for their QB. Although he's going to have to block if he wants to get on the field more.

The Jets don't have a strong armed QB who can throw the deep ball with any consistency and their offense is all about ball control. Keller should be a big help with their short and especially medium range offense. The one thing I hated initially was having to trade up to get him because I thought he would be there 6 picks later. But with the Giants picking next and with the Shockey trade talks in the air, I think the Jets really thought that the Giants were waiting to see if Keller was there before pulling the trigger on the deal. The Giants would have been able to get one of the two safeties that they wanted with New Orlean's 2nd rd pick, 40th overall and they could have replaced Shockey with Keller. That makes it reasonable for the Jets to move ahead of them to get Keller and sacrifice a 4th rd pick. I really like the Keller pick. I like him more than the top WR's on the board because he has fewer questions in terms of health, character and work ethic. All of those WR's dropped out of the first rd for a reason.

As for the rest of the Jets draft:

Dwight Lowery CB - seems to be a reach but maybe he can be a Ray Mickens type in nickel and dime packages.

Erik Ainge QB - hopefully can be a solid backup. A 4 yr starter at a big school, smart with good size. Not much of an arm but that's not the Jets offense anyway.

Marcus Henry WR - I really like this pick. He's not very fast and isn't going to get a lot of separation but he's big and he can catch the ball in traffic. That's exactly what the Jets need with their short passing game and in the red zone.

Nate Garner OT - Great size but a project. Put him at RG and see what he can do.

Overall, I like the Jets draft. It wasn't great, they still have needs in their secondary and at LBer but they have veterans who they can get by with for another season. I'd give it a B but with the upside to move up 2 grades.
If it didn’t work in Phoenix with Nash and Stoutamire... it’s just not a winning formula. It’s an entertaining formula, but not a winning one. - Derek Harper talking about D'Antoni's System
