They said for him to stay away from the TEAM and player facility. This has nothing to do with him staying away from the business aspects of the organization and decisions made. He's banned from the TEAM not the organization.

that makes no sense. Why someone associated with the organization be banned from the team?

The whole situation makes no sense but somehow it's still happening.

Maybe the report is just false.. I don't know anymore... I'm tired of trying to figure it out.

This situation makes complete sense to me. If Isiah is fired, he is pretty much released from the MSG media policy and can air any dirty laundry that he may have on Dolan, the Knicks etc. The Knicks can't have any more negative press, so why not keep him quiet. You end up paying him either way.

it is an indictment on Little Jimmy and the FO that their credibility is constantly being question. So much so that the guy who's been there all of one month can't even be trusted.

I mean the whole situation is bizarre regardless of this newest report. No other team would keep around a GM who failed for four straight years, especially after hiring a new President.

This situation already is bad press. How much worse can it get if Isiah comes out and blames Larry, Steph and everyone else, like he's already done?

Also, guys know if they publicly diss ownership they'll never never get another job again. And how much good will is Dolan going to engender from Isiah by humiliating him into quitting?

If it made sense, I'm sure other teams would do it. If they're worried about the dirty laundry being aired, it's just a sign of how dysfunctional the organization is. I'm highly skeptical of anything that is done *uniquely* by the Knicks organization. A good general rule would be, if the Knicks are doing it and if no one else is doing it, then it's probably foolish!

Who the F cares anymore? I was pissed they didn't outright fire Isiah too. But now that I've simmered down: what is the point to even caring about the latest off-court drama? Isn't it all about the product on the floor? Isn't it about how the team performs? Draft night and the Free Agency period will be our first glimpse into the most important aspect to the Donnie Walsh era. Until then, what can anyone really say, with any level of certainty, when it comes to what's relevant to Knicks basketball?

We have no idea what is next for the Knicks. Sure, if the current actions of the new regime show us anything -- it's that Dolan still has his fingerprints all over the way certain personnel issues are handled. This Isiah situation is eerily similar to the Larry Brown situation. However, so far, there has been nothing done by the Knicks that show any direction, positive or negative, when it comes to basketball.

How many other teams have had such a highly publicized sexual harassment suit recently?

Donnie Walsh is Dolan's puppet. Isiah is being kept on because Dolan wants his buddy here. Dolan told Donnie to keep Isiah and Donnie said "Yes sir!".

If Walsh thinks Isiah would be that much of a distraction, where he would have to go to such a drastic step as ban him from having any contact with the players or coaches, then why keep him around at all? It's absolutely insane.

And the changing of the media policy, along with the culture of the team, is total bull****. Nothing has or will change. Dolan is still ruling with an iron fist and the organization is as paranoid as ever. Interviews are still being monitored, information is still being leaked and news is still being released with the sole intention of lessening the negative backlash (Walsh is introduced while Isiah and the beat writers are on a road trip while Isiah's reassignment is announced after 5pm on a Friday).

So you want Donnie to fight with Dolan and get himself fired as Brown...
Hmm... This will be very constructive and do a lot for Knicks future. (sarcasm)

I rest my case...any other organization would settle out of court and immediately fire the person.

Being banned from the team and being fired are the same thing to me.

The only difference is Isiah would not be able to have any other basketball unless he forfeited his remaining salary. Other than that he is basically done with the Knicks.

Its like if a team were to ban a player from the team. Its close to same thing as cutting him. The difference is that if the player started to miss playing basketball he would be at the mercy of the team and the team would probably be able to negociate(spell?) a buyout a little more in there favor.

They can also still fire him anytime they want.

#1 - this may not be true
OR
#2 - it is true and they could be setting up restrictions in the event he violates them, they can terminate the contract
OR
#3 - they're a bunch of dunderheads

And the people who were most shocked that the Marbury/Thomas era failed on court were the ones who most discounted the off court problems.

What team extends this clown while heading to trail?

Who goes to trail?

Who sucks like he has?

Its all so unpresidented it cannot be compared.

I think his banishment is worse than firing him. Its outright humiliating to him. Its better than being fired.

This is not 100% analogous though. The Isiah / Marbury thing was about the poisonous effects of the incestuous relationship between superstar player and team president. Those off-court problems directly involved players and, not surprisingly, resulted in poor play. Here, if we are to believe that Isiah cannot contact our players, then there really should be very little spillover onto the court.

I'm down with Queenie on this one. As much as I wanted to see Isiah fired ASAP it honestly would have been more of the same rash decision making that we have all become accustomed to.

This is probably the best news I have heard from this organization in years.

I think this is about Isiah in his money too. I don't think firing Isiah right away would be rash. He obviously deserves to be fired. The Bucks fired Larry Harris within the span of 1 day or so, and he didn't even do as bad a job as Isiah. No one considered that rash.

Larry Harris was fired by an owner that was around the team all year. We have to remember that Walsh just walked into this situation. No matter how obvious it was to us or 99% of the free world how bad a job Isiah did here, there are 2 things I am keeping in mind.

1-This may just be how Walsh works. I remember a quote from one of the papers before Walsh was hired where a "source" that was id'd as a Walsh friend said that Walsh was very slow and methodical.

2-Walsh's feelings for Isiah can't be discounted. He gave Isiah his first shot as a coach and has some feelings for the guy. This may just be Walsh's way of "taking care" of a guy who he knows will get another substantial NBA job again.

It's shocking that someone like Donnie Walsh would do something this classless.

Glad to see things haven't changed.

Donnie Walsh is blowing the absolutely easiest layup of his professional life. That doesn't bode well for him being able to fix this incredible mess. Maybe he's in over his head. Maybe Dolan and Isiah are going to keep stopping him from doing what he needs to do. It's still a joke.

This has nothing to do with Donnie Walsh...He isn't signing the paychecks...I agree with Nalod...Isiah tried his best all year to get fired and walk away with millions...I'm glad to see Dolan is sticking it to him...I would banish him to scouting duties...I think you are off base thinking Isiah still has input...
