Powerul drive right, predominantly offensive point guard. Anyway your boy lost don't fret too much. He'll be drafted very high if he declares. I just hope we don't draft him to be our point guard of the future.

i like how you discount his rebounding, defense, and ability. marbury never lost in a championship game. trueblue you are a pathetic miser man what would impress you? rose is a 19 year old freshman who played the best out of anyone on the floor. did you watch minutes 8 to 2 of the second half. rose scored 8 points in a row and brought memphis from down 4 to up 4. to say he's a "marbury clone" is embarassing and a beacon of not understanding basketball or holding some bizarre grudge against marbury. get over yourself.

CDR choking big time. What a crappy player.

Rose missed a key free throw too and in overtime absolutely did nothing. He's the kind of player if he isn't involved offensively he doesn't appear to impact the game much. Very much a Marbury clone.

Let's give credit to Chalmers, Collins, and Arthur. They all played a more fluid and solid game from start to finish.

i am honestly just embarassed by the negativity of some of the people on this board. disappeared down the stretch? he played forty five ****ing minutes being hounded by chalmers, russ robinson (rice HS), and sharron collins who played d-back in college for a year. to say rose chocked is ridiculous. CDR should've made the free throws, he's a junior and is their leader, rose absolutely CARRIED memphis for about 8 minutes and put them in the position to win the game, CDR should've iced those free throws

And CDR carried them in teh first half while Rose played Coy. It's a full game not an isolation of moments. Heck Rose according to most coasted in the first half so he had to of had some kind of energy hence he came out and played very well late 3rd and most of the 4rth fourth. CDR choked worst than Rose at the line but Rose still choked. Chalmers played 40min and had enough energy to hit an incredibly clutch shot which was heavily contested I'm sure he was tired too plus he iced all his free throws down the stretch.

So whats your point?!? You would prefer Mario Chalmers to wear a Knick uniform instead of Rose?!?

LOL, rose also had the flu, didn't practice yesterday, and had to be guarded by 3 guys. and, exactly my point, chalmers played 40 minutes rose did not rest for one minute, the backup PG for memphis got kicked off the team last week.

don't back off your statement, you called derrick rose a "marbury clone." that is absolutely ridiculous dude, i'm not sure of what kind of grudges you hold or why you are such a bitter, caustic, and pecimistic individual but to just sour on rose b/c he ran out of gas while sick and not taking a literal second off (not to mention being, once again, guarded by the best defensive backcourt in the country) is ludicrous.

once agian, who would you rather have (other than rose) in this draft?

Comparing him to Marbury isn't a bad thing in terms of talent. If a Marbury talent enters the draft this yr where does he go? Probably top 5 right? He's really an undersized 2 guard who needs clear outs and screens set for him to go right so he can do damage. His style of play is what I don't care for, from a point but the kid can ball and so can CDR and plenty of other players who appear to be entering the draft. Dozier was impressive also with his role play.

Did I say that?

GKF called CDR a crappy player and I responded with a post trying to show a little objectivity.

Do you agree that CDR is a crappy player?

once again, you're proving yourself to be an ignoramus. rose runs the offense and is a true point guard. i mean, honestly, do you watch the games? marbury, true, he's not a point guard. rose HAD MORE ASSISTS THAN ANYBODY IN THE GAME TODAY, he is a 6'4" point who rebounds the rock well. you are ridiculous dude.

dozier is impressive, yea right, you said derrick rose is an undersized 2 you are not watching these games

I'd go with Beasley at #1. And, likely, OJ Mayo at #2. Derrick Rose is a deserving #3 but I think the hype is leaving the wagon behind at this point.

Relax dude seriously you're getting way too emotional. Who do you think Rose's game compares to in the NBA?

OJ mayo at #2. this is just absurd. i won't even start to debate this one.

i will admit i am emotional i had some money on this game. i would say derrick rose is a mix of jason kidd and dwyane wade. he averaged 20/6/6 in the tourney, rebounds better than any point i've seen since kidd, can run an offense. i would want him over anyone else in this draft.

I agree with where you have these players at, at this point. If the draft were held tomorrow this is how I think it would shake down. There's still camps and other scenarios that may develop before the draft to cause a change in ranks.

I voted Kansas, i might have been the 1st one, while everyone else went with Memphis. And this was the 1st game of the tournament i watched, turned it on with like 3 mins left in regulation. I haven't been following college bball much. Anyway, the only reason i voted for Kansas was because i really want a chance at Rose and if he won it all he prolly woulda went #1 which we'd have a super crappy chance of getting. I really don't care if he missed a free throw , he would be so sweet on the Knicks "fingers crossed"

I used to think this assessment was crazy, but the more I watch Rose, he does play a lot like Marbury - they have a similar skill set (at least before Marbury started going downhill). The question is, can he carry himself like more of a professional and be more of a leader than Sourbury? He is bigger than Marbury, too, and a better rebounder. But he does a lot of the driving into traffic and leaving his feet that Marbury does, has the same suspect jumper. Anyway, I still like him better than most prospects in the draft. It's hard to project qualities like character and leadership from watching a game on TV - the real things that have kept Steph from making himself a great player. I hope Donnie can make the right call.

Now that makes about 4-5 posters in the recent week I've seen agree with this assessment. If you look at Rose's game Marbury's is the closest of current NBA point guards. Even if Marbury had his head on straight was he an NBA championship caliber point guard?

Rose is superior to Mayo

To me, they're neck and neck. Mayo has a better 2nd step and better balance on his drives. He also has a better shot of the dribble. Rose is more athletic and patient offensively.

Its a tough call. OJ is very sure in his role as a shooting guard and I think that focus has sped his development. Rose seems to get lost in traffic more frequently in the half-court and there is room for improvement there. Where they end up is tough to predict but OJ's mix of skills are slightly more impressive to me.

trueblue, ok i apologize for the vehemence i've had a time to cool down. rose definitely is similar to the younger marbury, knowing you like i do i was assuming you meant the new, washed up marbury the bum.

i still think rose should go top-2. beasley is definitely a phenomenal player and its a toss-up as to who will make the better pro since beasley is a do-it-all 6'9" forward. i don't see how you could say rose is a 2-guard though, that is foolish. he had 8 dimes tonight, he averaged over 6 for the tourney, i agree that he needs to work on his half-court offense but in traffic he is phenomenal, his jumper will only improve, he has other-wordly athleticism and a great handle. and like i said before, marbury never really had any type of success anywhere, rose and CDR traded off getting a team through 6 games in the tourney and only wilted when they were exhausted and under the brightest spotlight. rose playing semi-sick for an entire gm as a freshman is impressive.

and for those who criticize rose being an undersized 2, what do you think OJ mayo is? he is DEFINITELY a 2-guard and he is only an inch taller than rose (and definitely not more athletic).

Memphis proved that you have to hit FT's to win a national championship, no matter how much talent you have.. One analyst said they would not win it because of that very reason..

The college game and zone helped kansas keep rose in check somewhat, but if this were an NBA game, rose would have slaughtered the kansas guards... I am not down on rose one bit.... the kid had a great year and now it is time for him to move on and come to the knicks...

Darryl Arthur looked good also..
