I totally agree but I think you need to trade Lee with a bad contract is better than taking an uproven player. Lopez will struggle in the pro because his lack of athleticism. I am an SEC guy and we will disagree on Randolph. If they are going to go big trade down and take Thabeet a defensive minded player.

You might be an SEC guy but if you are telling me Randolph=Swift I would say you've never seen Randolph once. Randolph is the fastest big in the draft bar none. He can take a rebound off the board and bring it himself upcourt FASTEr than most guards. This guys skills are UNBELIEVABLE. I think the two BIG athletic skill players Mcgee and Randolph are SO signifciantly underrated it's mind-blowing--these are EASILY top 5 picks. The odds of failure with these types of skills with the size and athletic ability is very low--rather these guys have superstar potential. I will disagree with anyone on these two guys. I kind of laugh when I see a lot of fans putting bayless into their top 5 like he is going to be a piece than changes the organization. I would stake everything I know about basketball that Randolph and Mcgee will be NBA stars IF they WANT to be.

Briggs Randolph in a half court game is dead. He is too skinny to guard anyone in the post. Has no jumper, and wont be a lottery pick.

Every poster on this board was killing the knicks for not tanking for a high pick, like Riley...
and now that they do the smart thing you still want to crucify them.
At least Zeke is finally making a contribution that will help this team beyond his miserable blip in knicks history.

I'm someone who's maintained for a long time that our direction was bad and we needed to mine the draft. But IMO tanking has to come from management, not coaching, and this is a problem with one person wearing both hats, like Riley and Isiah.

I think you tank by putting banged up veterans on the IR to heal or get surgery, etc, so that your chances of winning are slim, and then you coach the hell out of everybody who plays the games to win, win, win. You have to coach guys to win.

So I just wanted to be clear that I am cool with managements decision to tank, I am not cool with having our coach sitting on the bench watching dispassionately and teaching our kids how to lose.

If what I hope is happening is that the Knicks are going to blow things up and rebuild I would start by removing Isiah from his positions. Allow an assistant to finish off the season playing the young guys and let Grunwald be the interim President for the last few games. The way things are now, if I were a talented vet who had been one of Isiah's guys I would feel like this disaster was my fault and that I was being shown the door. One person needs to be shown the door and everyone else needs to be evaluated and moves need to made that are best for the team.
I'm tired,I'm tired, I'm so tired right now......Kristaps Porzingis 1/3/18

I understand both guys are on the slight side--they are 18-19 years old:) When I look at someone I try to project their ultimate upside from what they are today. Think about the combination ofsize length speed athletic ability multiple skill sets these guys have and then put them together. Next step is to fill up with a few tough two way guards who can shoot it----a couple of intangible players --put in a good coach and I think the soup will be quite good:) I'd like to see us work on a 10-15 year plan instead of this malarchy of throwing players together. If Im wrong---atleast I went for it--settling for a channing Frye or a 6-2 SG isnt going to get it done here--we must go for the ceiling players and make sure they are groomed/trained at a premium type level. I like Lopez as well--like I said I can work with any combination of 3.
