well dj, stuff like that is why I tend to focus on the character of the player.

it's why I really like Rose, Bayless, Mayo, Gordon, Augustin, Gallinari

but dislike Jordan, Donte Greene, Batum, Lopez

not just about talent, it's about work ethic, dedication and character, they all come into play. Truth be told that's why I had higher expectations of Emeka Okafor.

i was joking with the post. briggs never said that, although he did get a tattoo saying "darko life" on his stomach.

If you have the third pick you take thabett and trade Lee and get another top ten pick and take a guard.

the suns have amare at pf now with shaq manning the c. they’re not going to want to go for another pf, especially one who's about to be paid.

Totally agree. I would take a backcourt player with the additional pick (Augustine?) Not sure if we can still geta lotto pick for Lee, though.

After Beasley and Rose, I have Thabeet and Mayo at 1 and 1a.

I'm with Briggs I think Thabeet will be a defensive game changer for a decade and would love a guy like that on this team. I do for his sake hope he stays in college to get one more year of seasoning under Calhoun, but it's not a deal breaker for me if he decides to leave this year.

Bip, if we draft Thabeet, do you think it makes it easier on us to keep Curry or Zach or is it still best to dump them?

I wouldn't want either one of those guys, especially Zach, serving as a bad influence to Thabeet. I'd ditch em both.

^That goes without saying, but theoretically, can we be a winning team with one of them and Thabeet, 3 years down the road.

I personally wouldn't want either, but Thabeet is a center so if you keep him you probably have to drop Curry.

I don't think we can trade either player right now and with Curry going down--it puts more pressure on us to go big. I think that we will get that opportunity if things stay pat. If we stay top 5 the picks will be either Beasley Rose Thabeet Mayo or Lopez--so if we are smart we will get a player that is good. Going out of that group--the ceiling level goes down full notch. You don't take undersized SG 5 unless they are AI and certainly not a 5-11 PG. It's going to take Thabeet a year or two with his offensive game. Defensively he can help the Knicks change a lot of things right now--an impact player on defense. We would have to commit to the 1-2 years of tutoring/getting him stronger like the Lakers did with Bynum, but I believe strongly it's the smartest move.
Having Zach Curry Lee ---Thabeet should help those players because he brings elements to the table those guys don't have. Some of these games we lose by small amounts can be changed by a little more emphasis on clogging the lane and protecting the basket. Also we have no one who can defend the elite big men i.e Howard Oden Bynum Duncan etc... then in a few years when Thabeet is at another level offensively---teams will have to match up with a true 7-3 275 pound athletic player. He has only been playing basketball 4.5 years--in the start of high school he was a soccer player. His dad was a champion soccer player although he passed away. He has a LOT of pride heart determination to win and get better----very smart in the classroom with very high character

let's calm down a little bit... for every one of BRIGGS' Bynum, Nate & Amare predictions, there is an overration of guys like Andrew Bogut, Marcus Williams, Darius Miles, Shareef Abdur Rahim, Pavel Podkolzine & Tiago Splitter... this is true for everyone on this forum no matter who it is.

this is why, speaking for myself, i would like to see a single thread where every prospect in this year's draft could be discussed instead of everyone feeling the need to post a separate one everytime 1 of them has a good stretch of games... would be much easier to keep track of people's predictions & give credit to where it is due... just because someone posts a separate thread about Thabeet doesn't mean they invented the idea & discovered the guy before everyone else... i remember several posters on this site talking about drafting Thabeet a couple months ago because he addressed our biggest need which was shotblocking... why not continue the discussion?

Great post although I've never deviated from whom I wanted. Briggs keep switching it up as if he's gambling with House Money.

I think Thabeet is a very tempting player to take at 3. He will be a defensive enforcer.

if its not Beasley or Rose i agree i would take THabeet just based on what we need and whats available. If he could be 3/4 of Mutumbo we would be VASTLY improved
I'm absolutely convinced on the pick if it's not 1-2
