i hope he never works again
He's currently the Executive Vice President for the 76ers, who are looking far better than we are

That's because he is not involved with the day to day operations

How would you know that?

Without confirmation either way the statement shouldn't be made. That's the point!

I think it makes far more sense to assume that the Sixers are paying the dude to actually do something that influences the team than it is to assume that he can take no credit in their current direction because he is not involved. If he is not involved, why hire him?

Umm- he brought them their only run to the finals in like forever.

Let's not forget Larry 'next town' Brown - quit on them as well.

But seriously - I don't think nyone (and I do mean anyone) -figured their youngsters would get so good so fast. Lou Williams is only 19!1 And e is getting good quicckly, Willie Green - is becomig a consistent shooter (especially against the Knicks), Dalembert is definetly decent, Thaddeus Young is also looking like he is a keeper. So overall- I think this club has surprised everyone - from the upper management-to the coach.
You have 3 pretty good players in Miller/Iguadola, and Dalembert. Throw in a Reggie Evans - and hope 2-3 of your young rooks are acutally good - and the next thing you know - you have the most surprising team in the East. I doubt - anyone thought this would happen - which means - that LB may keep his job - but his 'consultation' won't be neded at all.

So to thank him they gave him money and a position in the team's front office, but they said -- sorry, you can't be involved in the day to day operations of the team? That makes no sense.

Most of the people who did not like Brown had an agenda, and they know what it is.
A glimmer of hope maybe?!?

Exactly; the burden of proof is on those who say that unlike nearly all executives in nearly all organizations in the world, this particular executive actually doesn't have a role in the direction of his organization.

Larry did lots of stuff I didn't like, like trading for Francis & Rose. But what really pissed me off was his sexual harassment of Anucha. That's just wrong.

Larry didn't want to be around the Knicks people need to come to grips with that. He wanted nothing more than to get to his money ASAP. And he got his wish I'm happy for him as Hubie Brown would say.

Look how fast Larry was able to have positive influence on the Sixers considering Billy King created somewhat of a mess before he got axed. He was under Larry's consultation most of last yr.

he signed on for five ****ing years as their coach. but then again a signed contract never meant much to him.

All of LB's bad qualities were known before the hire therefore.....

how so? sure he got some money, but coming right on the heels of how he had f'd detroit I think larry managed to magnify the trashy side of his rep by the way he handled the ny deal.

Well everyone is talking about great a coach Larry Brown, is, was and has been, the truth of the matter is "WHAT THE FUCK DID HE DO FOR US?" someone please enlighten me. He was paid handsomely to do a job and the fact is he didn't, so they got rid of his ass. Dolan and Thomas are incompetent but for Larry Brown who is supposed to be a professional which required him to do job he was paid to do to came up short, not just short ridiculously short he deserved everything he got. You don't go into a job knowing that you're gonna be working for an asshat expecting everything will be ok you either a)don't take the job or b)cash your check and do your job. He did neither. So SCREW Larry Brown and the horse he rode in on

Why are you guys still jockriding this front runner, he's sucked and he's gone GET OVER IT ALREADY. I'm already over Thomas and he's not even gone yet

It's just putting blame where it's due. So many thought anybody could win more than 23 wins with a less talented version of this team, therefore our problems were all about Larry "sabotaging" the the team, and how much better things would be if Isiah could be left to fulfill his vision unfettered by Brown's diabolical influences.

ANybody could have won 23 games with that team. Or do you think Larry did a great job and was able to squeeze 23 amazing victories out?

Winning 23 games with a pathetic roster like that, who were allowed to mutiny with the Team President and GM's blessing, if not his outright directive, is impressive.

Last year they won only 33 games with everybody happy, the addition of 3 defensive minded players and the head coach having complete support from the Team President and GM. This year they're even worse.

If it didn’t work in Phoenix with Nash and Stoutamire... it’s just not a winning formula. It’s an entertaining formula, but not a winning one. - Derek Harper talking about D'Antoni's System
