I have a draft question. Do the guys who think we should draft thabeet worry about his work ethic, and love for the game? draftexpress mentioned that, but I'm not sure how much of a concern that is. I never got the impression he had that problem.

Thabeet is not worth a lottery pick. We cannot waste a top 5 pick on such a raw player.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

Another question I wanted to ask it, is does Darrel Arthur's lack of rebounding seem like a concern?

Yeah he is a raw player but a center who has shot blocking capabilities and is a defensive presence might be just the thing the Knicks need. Even if he pans out to be like a Mutomobo I think we can live with that. I don't see him as a top 5 pick though thats for sure thats why I would like to trade curry and try and get a top 10 pick for him so the Knicks can take Thabeet with the pick.

--->Zach has never complimented anyone well in his career. Please just waive the guy.

LOL--that is your answer to everything---what kind of answer is that? yes buyout zach randolph and his 60mm buyout Curry buyout Crawford buyout Marbury--it doesnt work like that pal!

He's going to be a lottery pick--I do not think it will be with the Knicks

We really need a top 5 pick--after that I would consider trading down for a Billy Walker type and maybe an extra draft pick in 2010 when we lose ours. i.e if we had pick 6---move down to 14-18 and make the other team throw in a future 1+2.

slimpack---Arthur only plays limited minutes---23 of 40--so if you projected 14+6 out another 17 minutes thats 11.7 rebounds and 24 points 3.2 blocks

I do not think the Knicks will take another PF with Lee and Randolph--unless they seriously want to go with a smaller team and have a *fast* small C. I don't think you can win in the NBA like that. Contrary to MR Thomas's beliefs--all of the good teams in the league have two guys 6-10--7-0 in their starting lineup.

My hope is we get lucky and get beasley--he;s 5 steps above EVERYONE in the draft and is ON PAR right now with any top NBA player--he's the only true franchise player--in fact I think he will *shock* people in the NBA. I really really like both players at KST---I wish we could have two or three picks this year with one being the top pick:)

Beasley would be a great pick Briggs but I do think your wrong to be dismissive of Derrick Rose by saying Beasley is so far ahead of him in terms of ABILITY. Now Beasley is far more NBA ready and is right now a better player. But PG's typically take longer to really hit their stride and Rose's long term potential I would rate right with Beasley. Also you can't look at Rose's numbers and use that to say he is not a pure PG. College PG's at major schools never put up NBA assist numbers and the Turnovers will improve with expeience. I form my opinions on players mostly by watching them, as you have said you do, and to your credit I have read posts on this site for a while (don't post very often)and you know your stuff on the draft. But Derrick Rose is scouted as a pure PG for a reason, because longterm that is what he will be.

BRIGGS I am curious however, in my view Beasley to be most effective should be put at PF and not SF in the NBA. Personally I would lke the Knicks pick to end up being Rose alhough I certainly understand wanting Beasley. If we got Beasley what do you feel should be done with David Lee? I don't think they would fit to well starting with eachother long-term (the team would be to slow overall at foward), so would it be worth it to look into moving him for another high draft choice in your view?

Mark it down. Derrick Rose will be an all star in February 2011. The same year LeBron James will win the NBA All Star MVP again, in a Brooklyn Nets uniform.

I can only hope Derrick will be a NY Knick at that time.

Want to point out in my above post I am not considering Zach or Eddy as a major part of any winning future with the team, but I fee David Lee certainly can be a part of that. Derrick Rose and Lee obviously fit togethor but you have to wonder about Lee and Beasley (Ive had enough of position clashing).

If we were lucky enough to get Beasley--that last thing on my mind would be where I can find playing time for both Lee and Beasley. Beasley can easily play 3 Beasley so far above Derrick Rose I just don't get where people are comparing the two. Im old enough to remember just how darn good Majic Johnson was at Mich State at the same age as Rose. Just an unbelievable difference in skills--even Jason Kidd at Cal--Derrick Rose isnt even the best player on his own team right now--he has a great deal of upside--he's been regressing imho as the season has gone on. Let's see something better than 2-13 and 5 TOs this week against Tenn.

briggs, where do you think thabeet ends up going? late lotto? he looked pretty good the last couple of games.

i still like derrick rose, but he's a definite project. somehow it seems insane to take beasley when we have zach and eddy plodding around the post. then again, looks like eddy may be outta here.

Rose came to a Final Four team with all five starters returning... he's asked only to do a certain amount, yet leads the team in key statistical areas. Now, Memphis is number one in the nation and undefeated too. The only significant change is Rose is the team's new point.

Great Points.

BRIGGS, are you really saying that Magic Johnson is a fair basis to judge Derrick Rose on? Who compared him to Magic? Are you saying that is the level prospect Beasley is, because I can say with full confidence he is not up to that level. No one in this draft is. Try comparing Derrick Rose and his freshman year to players like Deron Williams or Chris Paul..people who's level of play he is actualy projected to be able to POSSIBLY reach someday. Not perhaps the greatest PG...ever.

Chris Paul Freshman Stats: 14.8 PPG 5.9 APG 2.64 TOPG 33.5 MPG 49.6 FGP 84.3 FTP

Deron Williams Freshman Stats: 6.3 PPG 4.5 APG 1.84 TOPG 27.1 MPG 42.6 FGP 53.3 FTP

Derrick Rose Freshman Stats: 13.6 PPG 4.2 APG 4.3 RPG 3.0 TOPG 28.0 MPG 44.6 FGP 68.0 FTP

To be fair here is Jason Kidd, a player many are comparing Rose to:

Jason Kidd Freshman stats: 13.0 PPG 7.7 APG 46.3 FGP 31.7 MPG 65.7 FTP 28.6 3PFG

Also on the turnover point, a lot of pure PG's in up-temp systems have high t/o numbers. Last year Steve Nash averaged 3.77 TOPG.

Not bashing your love of Beasley BRIGGS, I love him to. But Rose would be a great pick also and to me, fits our needs better.

That's a great post Phins.

I've made my man-love for Derrick Rose known on various occasions in this thread and I've been on him since the first day of this season, so I will not mud-sling with Briggs. Briggs has a very good view on these college players and he's usually right on target, although this time I think you're off Briggs.

--->Thabeet is not worth a lottery pick.

Last night he showed some posts moves I had not seen him execute[including one with 2 minutes left down 1 that were very impressive. Last night at times he looked like pick 2 in the draft which is what is scary with a player like this---how many athletic 7-3 C can you remember? He is raw and not finished but he sure is an impact player who brings alot of things to the table that we currently dont have. Are we vying for a championship next year? I kind of got a grip on picks 1-3 as in Rose Beasley Bayless[not in that order and Im pretty sure Lopez Griffin go 4-5--but right now I think Thabeet has slipped into the 6th slot. According to IT the big man is going down but all of the good nBA teams HAVE good big men! I think we could live with Randolph at PF and Lee as a 35 minute 4-5 with Thabeet as a third big--not only can he help NOW but his potnetial and upside are VERY high--higher than almost anyone
