The problem with this is that people complain, but then can't come up with any examples of better offers that were passed up.

You may not realize it Solace, but on this site, all we do is speculate about shyt that we don't know is true or not. Except for those of us that pretend to be insiders so we can condescend to others and claim to have some information that they do not.

oohah

You mean like you just did with this thread?

If you believe the media, which we all use own judgment on, these seem to be the best both teams could get for the players. Furthermore, if you break it down, you may actually realize that they're pretty fair trades. Especially the Garnett trade. If you're intent on trading Garnett, getting Al Jefferson is about the best you can do, because you're already coming from a point of weakness with a star player who is slightly past his prime. I have no doubt in my mind that Minnesota won the Garnett trade. The Gasol trade remains to be seen, but I think Memphis got a fair amount in return.

Really? I did? I claimed to have insider information and then condescended to others about how much I knew and they didn't? Care to pull the quote where I did that? I won't hold my breath waiting.

***

You think that Minnesota got a fair deal? Al Jefferson and crapola is fair for Kevin Garnett?

Kwame the-worst-center-in-the-NBA Brown, Javaris Crittenton, and two very late first-round picks is fair for Pau Gasol?

If you say so dude.

oohah

It's

Al Jefferson=Great Value
Their pick back Top 5(More than Likely)=Great, Great, Great Value
Celtics Top 3 Protected 2009 1rst round pick=Good Value
Theo Ratliff Expiring contract=Good Value
Ryan Gomes=Good Value
Telfair=Subpar Value
Green=Subpar value
Cash Considerations=Average Value

LOL @ fans trying to minimize the assets acquired in this deal.

So true. I wasn't going to respond to Oohah's ridiculousness, because even he knows he's being ridiculous, but since you did, I'll say thanks.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

You probably thought Donaghy was the only ref cheating too.

You have a serious problem with mistaking speculation as fact. Knock it off with the conspiracy theories. Donaghy has nothing to do with this and I already commented on that back when it happened (which you clearly missed).

playa, just stick to the topic. If you think the Celts and Lakers both got unbalanced trades, then explain what you would have done differently and what better offers may have been out there.

By the way, on a slightly separate note, I find it highly amusing that guys are bitching about these when the Mets just got the best pitcher in baseball for basically a pile of garbage -- and there were at least two offers which were WAY better that the Twins passed on earlier. If you want to find a trade to be suspicious about, maybe it's that one.

How are you going to tell me to stick with the topic , and then jump to baseball

JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

The point about baseball was simply that you guys pick and choose when you want to discuss conspiracy theories. Playa, you've lost all credibility when it comes to such a topic, because you claim that every other event in the world is a conspiracy.

If you just admitted that you're annoyed Gasol didn't go to the Knicks (or Bulls or whoever) then say that, instead of claiming bogus conspiracy theories.

Garnett to Celts will take 5 years to evaluate. What is lost on most is that KG on Minny would have become disinterested and devalued. If Wolves can miss playoffs with him, they can without him and save money and rebuild. I think Minny did very well providing that was thier objective.

Solace I didn't give a rip where Gasol was going to end up, so to say I cared is a little foolish on your part.

What you seem to close your eyes to is this, most major change has agendas behind them to better the league viewership especially for the playoffs.

Agreed!

I mean the guy made a post on this board about Lute Olson receiving preferential treatment from Arizona as he going through a divorce/reconciliation.

What does going thru a divorce has to do with you coaching ?

So tell me of any other coach or player who gets paid for not coaching or playing just because of a divorce?

Shaq, Vince Carter, J.Kidd etc...

Name one other coach receving these type of benefits for similar circumstances.

And remember I didn't write the article , it came from a reporter in Arizona!

Who Cares? Every Topic you post has some kind of suspicion or perceived controversy from your perspective. You create stuff that just isn't there, quite often.

No one here cares about a college coach from the Pac 10, with exception of possibly having some compassion as a human being for what he's going through.

What was the purpose of posting the article here?

If you don't care, then please do everyone a favor and keep the conspiracy theories to yourself. They're a waste of everyone's time.
