I can't believe the Lakers rebounded from all that Kobe drama over the summer. Every Sports journalist out there would have bet their daughters that Kobe was moving this season

Good trade for the Lakers.....what will make it great is when they tag on Kidd cuz it is written. Geez louis rice and peas they are gonna be stacked.

Ok on to Memphis. Why do they need 3 youg point guards? 3 of which ALL 3 are probably gonna round out the top 10 in a league in about 5 years if not sooner.

Knicks need to holla @ them for Miller and Lowry.

when I proposed a three way deal involving the suns and grizzlies, people were like, why would the grizzlies want to re-route amare to NY.. My point was they wanted to cut salary so getting rid of gasol was the key.... anyway, they end up getting trash back just to cut salary, and the two picks are going to be non-lottery anyway... go figure..

But no one knows if Amare was seriously on the table. D'Antoni already went on record this yr as saying he wants the team in tact to make one final run at a championship before they start tinkering. That's why Marion wasn't traded this summer. I like the move by Memphis if their plan is to manage their cap and they are assured of landing in the Lottery by the time they exercise those picks from the Lakers. So they have Conley and will add a big time talent this summer and another next summer via the draft, if they don't trade their picks away. They have a couple tradeable assets in the fold. It's what you call rebuilding while at the same time possibly having a chance to land a player via FA. Of course this is all foreign to us.

and no one knew that the grizzlies wanted to dump gasol for cap room either. I just heard rumblings that the suns were interested in gasol and would have considered moving amare in such a deal. I know these are all talks, but I would have been on the phones as soon as I heard some rumblings...

But anyway, great deal for the lakers and for the grizzles, bold move. I mean I give them props, they were going nowhere with gasol , but made a good decision to cut ties and clear salary cap space, while Isiah feels compelled to keep curry. I mean he is one of these kind of players that comes around once every 20 years, I mean didn't Isiah say something stupid like that about curry..LOL!!!!

Now the grizzlies traded stromile swift to jersey for Jason Collins.
JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

Great trade. Pau in the triangle will make him great on that team.

A big man who can face the basket and eitehr shoot or pass is huge.

Bynum won't get his number called but with his length he will mop up alot on the glass and get some nice easy looks.

If healthy they must be the favorites. Role players Bynum and Walton with Fish, Kobe and Pau is very good. Oh Dumb off the bench or in a trade for Kidd would seal it for them.

Its not the individual talent its how it will all blend in together.

"HOLY PAU!"

To be fair, there's no guarantee that Bynum and Gasol will mesh. Both will likely see their numbers reduced and they may struggle to find enough space on the floor.

But the difference between their situation and ours is they have players who can feed the post, and even if Bynum and Gasol struggle offensively I see little reason to expect them to be wastes defensively.

Lakers should be fun to watch, and getting Fisher back was a good pickup too.

awesome deal for MEM imo... they unload Pau's contract & get 3 1st round calibre guys + cap relief w/Kwame's expiring... Kobe's probably happy for now but he'll start bitching about a trade again just as soon as Pau goes down to another injury.

They get 2 1st round picks which will be 25/30, which is nothing to celebrate. I see it as a typical Clippers/Hawks of 5 years ago. It might work for them, but it seems to me that they got very little for Gasol.

personally i think Gasol's very overrated on these forums... he's not a strong defender in the paint & he's injured half the time... for an 18 & 8 player getting back 3 1st round picks & cap flexibility is well worth it from the Grizzlies' perspective.

If you judge Gasol production/durability to salary it's Albatross but add him to the Lakers who have very solid pieces in place to take the load off Gasol well he looks very good. He might maintain his health by not being the workhorse in LA.

Gasol has never had the heart to be a franchise player, but he'll be a nice component on a good team. I guess the question is, were the Grizz better of taking a bunch of low picks or trying to get one high pick, a route I think they could have gone. Gasol is def worth a high pick IMO.
