Was at the game tonight.
Good performance from the players some have been touting lately.
Jeffries is turning me around 180 degrees. He impressed me as the guy Isiah thought he would be, but mainly with the lineups that appear to perform well (have to check the numbers to confirm):
Crawford Nate Jeffries Balkman Lee
Crawford Nate Jeffries Z-Bo Lee
Late in the 4th Isiah seemed to run Jeffries with Curry and Q and still did pretty well on D, so that was good.
Curry did some good things, but I still feel he's out of sync with the guys we do best with.
Zach is definitely NOT a problem. If we had some other guys on his level we'd be doing very well. He made a really nice pass early on that also showed some potential for unselfishness.
Nate showed promise again, although still need for some growth. A play late in the 4th where he made a nice drive to the basket, trying his new dishing style, to Lee, was a forced pass, and I saw Isiah talking to him after the play.
Actually, there were ZERO 'Fire Isiah' chants tonight and I was there from the tip. The team generally played like a team, and other than Curry's, no one else seemed to be booed tonight. Generally, this was perhaps the most enjoyable of the 3 games I've attended this year, of which I have seen the team go 2-1 (2W - Washington & Philly, 1L - Indiana).
I also wanted to say something else.
I think that MSG's crowd is very interesting these days, and I wonder what the long term implications might be. Back in the 90's it was a VERY white crowd, of mostly well off folks who could afford tix. Now, it is a very diverse crowd, of not just whites and people of color, but international people.
Last year that was commented on by myself and djsu, but tonight I really noticed it again. There was a row of 5 pretty young ladies (many in Knicks gear, and jerseys) next to me speaking another language but I couldn't make it out, probably too young so I wasn't going there, but after the game I asked them where they were from and they said Spain. I talked and asked about some of the Spaniards in the league (Gasol, Garbajosa, Calderon) and they seemed excited about that.
I heard several other languages spoken tonight, which I think is a very interesting phenomenon. Will this mean in this odd stretch of losing, people who may not be able to normally afford Knick games are going? Will international folk who come to NYC become Knick fans?
Lee was discussed by two folks in front of me, and in general, it seemed most enjoyed tonight's game.
Anyway, I had a good time, and bumped into someone I hadn't seen in years.
