Actually... Isiah had a huge impact on the game.. .soome say negative... he was one of the first shoot-first ball pounding PGs. He really took the PG to a new level and made a place for the little man in todays game.

Tiny Archibald did that first.

Isiah is a loser and has always been that way...He always tried to pull himself into a league where he has no calling...After he retired and reporters quizzed him about his playing days he would always do the "When me, Larry and Magic played" shtick...Use to kill me....

But he does belong with Larry and Magic in the NBA pantheon.

No.....Bird and Magic are all time greats...Two of the best that stepped on the court...Are you seeing Isiah in that conversation???

I absolutely think Isiah was a "great" player. He may not have made many friends but he was a winner and a champ. No doubt whatsoever.

Why not just limit the list to Wilt? Was there ever anyone better?

Well I'm one of the biggest Isiah haters around and even I respect the greatness of Isiah's playing career. If he was our PG in the 90's, we would have won multiple NBA championships. Perfect fit for those teams.

All time greats change the game...those other guys was just merely excellent participants...

No one approached Isiah til Allen Iverson. And he hasn't won. So how is that not changing the game? When has a 6'1 PG ever led his team to TITLES? Back-to-Back and against those vaunted Laker and Celtic dynasties. Give it a rest already.

When has a 6-1' player done the back to back??? Bob Cousey did it first and ran off quite a few!

IT did lead NCAA Indiana to the last undefeated season in 1976!

Isiah is a bonafide HOF with lots of cred. I'd put him on the second tier of greats. Certainly top 50, right there with Clyde, Bird, Duncan, Hakeem, and Kobe among greats with multiple rings but not define the position.

Thats not a slight by anymeans!

I think that Isiah thinks he is tippy top mac daddy for the era but that belongs to bird-Magic-Jordan.

Isiah is there with Ewing-Barkley-malone and others except he got the bling! Bling is important and puts him just above those.

You put Bird in both tiers...

Nobody was ever better than Wilt .. he gets his own tier.

Michael and Shaq are on the next level.

Magic, Isiah, Bird, Kobe on Tier 3

Leave to to the UK to ensure accuracy!

I think I listed Bird twice as I don't think he is tier one elite but helped define the Era.

without his rings I'd put him up there with Ewing-Barkley-Malone as the eras best players but his rings make him special.

Most special Isiah moment was "Bird Stole the ball! Bird Stole the ball!".

I never liked the "bad boys" and was happy to see Isiah fall short a few times. I did admire his talents and determination. When the bulls beat them and Isiah as the team leader snubbed them I thought it was the least professional act I had ever seen at that very high level.

Isiah was a great player who was a classless piece of Sh!T even back then.

[quote]January 20, 2008 -- MIAMI - Isiah Thomas said he would support Heat coach Pat Riley if Riley stepped down as coach to concentrate on his team president's duties.
But Thomas wouldn't address his own similar dual role with the Knicks.

Talk About It On Berman's Blog

Rumblings are Riley would like to get off the bench and focus on retooling a roster that is 8-31 - a stunning collapse of team that won the championship two years ago. The Heat have lost 13 straight with last night's loss to the Knicks.

"I have tremendous, tremendous respect for Pat Riley and everything he's done in the game of basketball," Thomas said. "Whatever he decides to do, he'll have my full support as I'm sure every coach in this league. Guys like Riley and [Phil] Jackson, you marvel at their perseverance and their strength. We, as young coaches and young managers, we all aspire to be what they are."

In a bizarre exchange, a Miami reporter asked Thomas three times if he thought the dual role was overreaching, and each time he told the writer to ask the Knicks beat writers his thoughts on the topic.

Actually, Thomas has addressed that issue publicly, only in generic terms, saying he would "never, ever quit." However, two weeks ago, as The Post reported, he told a friend he was near the "breaking point" and thinking of going upstairs.

Isiah is backing Pat Riley because zeke's mom backs him and is in love with Riley as a coach.

JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

I think isiah is trying to say in a round about way he wants to go back to being just the GM and everybody should support him as he is in support of Riley just being the GM........... could be just me though.

Bird is in the top tier I think Nolad...One of the truely smartest players that ever played...What hooked me on Bird was his understanding of the game..Forget he was a tremendous rebounder...Forget all the sweet multitude of passes you just don't see in the game anyone once he and Magic left..Kidd and Nash just don't do it the same...Forget he was knocking down threes like they were layups...Bird understood when to knock down that important three...Bird knew when to make that important steal...Bird's steal against Isiah in the playoffs wasn't an aberration for him, that was the norm...Bird is one of my all time favs...Sweet passes and nice picks is what I miss most from the old NBA...Truely knowing how to play the game the right way...

Isiah to his credit knew how to play the right way as well and was one of the great ones..One thing we miss in todays game is the understanding of the game and the recognition of how the parts should work...Isiah, Magic, Jordan,Bird, Stockton, Hakeem etc understood this...But for me, Bird, Magic and Jordan was on their own plateau...Then there was the rest of the greats...

Wilt was the most dominant player in the history of the game.

He was unstoppable during his era and made the NBA his b!tch.

If he was not quite so selfish he would have won a few more rings, but he was the best ever.

IMO Isiah was on par with Magic, Bird, & MJ, but people just don't like him and thus they keep him out of the argument. MJ actually had it EASY compared to what Isiah had to contend with during his career. Having seen the battles I find it hard to believe that people would honestly not put Isiah up there. The Pistons team he led changed the game in terms of defense and toughness. He was as tough as any of the Bad Boys and he proved it every night. He's got the scars to prove it.

Just cuz we don't like how he's handled things and he's kind of a phoney, that doesn't take away from how good he was. Don't forget the close battles with the Celtics and how his team could easily have made another trip to the finals during that time period.

Good points and you do have an arguement. Bird made those around him better and he had a nose for the ball.

And he fired Isiah!!!!!!! Man knew what he was doing!
