This isn't like the Randolph trade because we actually need a dependable SG

the problem is that T-Mac isnt' really dependable... he's an awesome talent no question, but what good is that if he's not playing half the time?

I agree there, but he still has a lot more value than what you would be giving up in this trade and only one more year than Marbury has.

I'm against trading for T-Mac (especially mid-season), but I don't think its that bad of an idea if its only Marbury + a prospect or two.

i think Marbury's contract does take on value if you're going to wait a year... next year he's $20 million dollars worth of cap relief to any team willing to trade for him... i'm sure we can milk a 1st round pick & a player or 2 that can fill some needs on this roster out of trading Marbury next year... then u figure that the team will be just bad enough again next year to net us yet another lottery pick which further aids in our rebuilding efforts...

T-Mac is a nice player, i fully acknowledge that (i'm not gonna downplay his talent just because i'm not in favor of this trade)... i'm looking at the longterm picture here... what does this trade do for us really except act as a quick fix solution that would only result in an 8th seed finish at best? i mean haven't we been there & done that in the past several times over to realize that it's not the way to build for longterm success anymore?

here's the 1 caveat to all this that would make me be in favor of this trade: u MUST then work out a trade for Ron Artest & another shotblocker as well & bring in a couple of defensive minded players to cover for our perimeter weaknesses... go FULL ON in 1 direction or just stay the course & rebuild the right way... no more half azzed moves w/1 foot in the water & 1 foot out of it... let's commit to a direction like i've been harping on for so damn long & ride it out to the end... since Isiah's been here it's been nothing but half azzed "we're rebuilding while trying to compete" type moves that have resulted in nothing but landing us in the pitiful hole we find ourselves in right now.

either we have to go for it all & be like the Celtics, or we just bite the bullet, unload contracts & accumulate draft picks & be like the Blazers.

Nah man don't worry, we will be getting Ben Wallace for David Lee and Zach Randolph.

Anyway, let the Bulls have T-Mac.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

I do not liek T-mac and I don't think he is that good.....only in all-star games.

He is a puss and a pre-madonna. I question his desire to even play the game.

He has no business being a teams focal point. Yeah hes athletic and he can handle.....but he needs to be a reciever rather than a dude that does alot of ball handling. He needs a guy to set him up.......in other words he needs to be a 6'8" small forward not a shooting guard. He needs someone to set him up.....run the wing and finish. Move the ball. He has skills to be a rebounder and shot blocker. I hate what he has become....

Then again.....I would not pout if we got him.....I would welcome him like always and give him a clean slate....I always do that and you know what happens after that

Are T-Mac's injuries really *this* bad?? He averages about 70 games per season. I can't see a Marbury/T-Mac trade occurring unless we give up draft picks and/or Lee.

Francessa couldn't name 10 players on the Rockets if you gave him a copy of the roster.

The Rockets don't want Steph. They want to move Mac, but trading him to the Knicks for Steph of all people would be an absolute last resort and would only happen if a combination of Fred Jones' expiring, David and/or a lottery pick are included.

Anyone that wants Steph's contract can (and will) have it in the off-season unless he goes further off the deep end and tells Isiah (who then tells potential trading partners) that he's exercising his early termination option. But even his crazy ass isn't stupid enough to leave 22 million on the table. Doesn't matter how much Tasha likes Italy.

I have mixed feelings about this deal.

On one hand we'd be absolutely killing our cap room by making this deal. The other side is it's T-Mac.. "superstar caliber" but often injured, and more importantly does not impact games enough alone to turn around this franchise. (IMO) Also the thought of including our 1st rd pick, is scary! I heard that it is lottery protected though for 2008...

So judging by our current state of the Knicks, It wouldn't seem as if we'd be giving up our chance at DeAndre Jordan or the other draft hopefuls @ #3

So for that reason, I'll play GM for a moment using the T-Mac trade scenario. I'd quickly hope for a follow up trade using Zach Randolph. (The Milwaukee deal seems to be floating around, BUT ZEKE KILLED THIS ONE TOO) Would have tried to get Villanueva, Bobby Simmons and their #1 Pick for Zach Randolph and Balkman. Instead I'd focus on dealing Eddy Curry.

Houston gets Stephon Marbury, David Lee and protected 1st rd pick 2008
(1-20), or unprotected 1st rd pick 2010
NY gets Tracy McGrady (YES WE'D BE OVERPAYING for T-Mac in thi scenario, but you know it would likely happen this way anyway

On draft day-- DEAL Eddy Curry to Seattle for Kurt Thomas and their #1 rd pick 2008

Draft 2008 we select #3- DeAndre Jordan (C) and #4- Jerryd Bayless (PG)

Jordan
Randolph
Jeffries
McGrady
Bayless

it is risky to try and trade for an injury prone star (like mcdyess), but at the same time look at how the warriors got baron davis for cheap and how hes been playing for the past couple of years. id do the trade just to get rid of marbury, tmac runs one more year but potentially is a top 10 player in the league if healthy. doesnt make any sense for the rockets though...marbury isnt really that much of an upgrade over the pg's they have now and i don't think they can afford to give up a scorer

Just like BIG C said, let marbury contract run out or better yet trade him for expiring contract.

We need to build from the draft, that's the only way we can vision a championship.

NO MCGRADY PLEASE! HE"S SOFT!!!!

the only sense it makes is for them to get $23 mil in cap relief on T-mac's final season... if that means they'd have a better shot at attracting a star like Kobe, Lebron or D Wade to come play alongside Yao in '09, then it makes even more sense for them... but who cares about future cap considerations? we sure don't.

our cap room is already killed... adding T-Mac does very little to our future cap situation as long as Zach, Curry, Jamal, Q Rich, Turd & Jefferies are on the roster... this has no bearing on the Knicks in terms of cap ramifications, & has a lot of benefits to present to the Rockets... adding the 1st rounder to the package is the part that would kill us.
