lol, ewing had nothing to do with our '99 run to the finals. ever since he busted his wrist he was never the same. And there is no reason why a team of houston, spree, healthy LJ and healthy camby, couldnt have competed the last two years.

LJ was damaged goods BEFORE he ever came to the Knicks... hurt in Charlotte and the nature of his injury was chronic and negatively impacted the rest of his career.

Demise started with Ewing trade... but I don't have the time (or interest) to go through the entire chronology of point by point disaterous moves by Layden.

Bottom line, key to any BUSINESS are the decisions one makes... Layden has made one bad move after another, compounding our problems (CAP, length of contracts, age, lack of talent) in the process. Inept management is THE reason the Knicks have been ruined... NOT injuries.

blah... i just typed up a huge response to this, but there was an error when trying to post it and it dissappeared.... blah forget it, you are wrong, i'll leave it at that. (layden is a moron, but injuries have been the key factor to us not being able to compete since we got knocked out by toronto in the 1st round).

hehe, i just didnt feel like typing my post out again. you know how that is, you type this long indepth response with very good points, u hit post, and its like sorry error, then u go back and your post is all gone.. well, thats what happened.

but anyways, are you saying that we wouldnt have been able to compete last season if Mcdyess was healthy?? we wouldnt have been in the top 4 in the east?

Or the season before, if LJ didnt retire and was still playing, and camby wasnt injured all season, would we have not made the playoffs?

And when we got knocked out by the raptors in the 1st round, if LJ could have played in that series, and cambys sister wasnt held hostage, dont u think we would have made it to the 2nd round?

i agree that layden is stupid, and continues to make bad moves, but we still had a team that could have competed if all our starters were healthy. and another thing, the ewing trade wasnt the start of us going downhill, it was when ewing busted his wrist.

Take a broad look at the direction in which the team is going. Compete? Yeah, we competed... watched Ewing, LJ and Camby go... and replaced them with Anderson, Eisely (via Rice), Doleac, Weatherspoon, and Mark Jackson (giving up 1st round pick) in addition to some of the more horrible draft choices in NBA history.

Camby wasn't schooled or used properly... couldn't stay on the court for twenty minutes because he refused to put in the work (at the gym).

... and as I said before, LJ was damaged goods before he arrived in NY... so you can't say we had bad luck due to injury... we knew or should have known what we were getting. LJ was bulging... unfortunately, it was his discs. Injuries are incidental... every team has them but, it is not what did this team in... I'm not wrong... and I've basically described each bad move by Layden (in past) don't feel like repeating it again. Most don't like to here "the truth" about the state of the New York Knicks.
