Yeah, you wont hear how good the Bulls are anymore...I think the new team that all Knicks fans are talking about is the BLAZERS.

Yeah that's a tough one. The Blazers are so loaded for the future. They had just the right mix of good luck and good decision making. You can't help but be envious of what they have. Dolan will never let us do such a thing tho. He's so bent on trying to do patch jobs rather than to tell the fanbase that we're gonna be irrelevant for a few years. Sure we've still been horrible, but there's the hope of a chance for success and that is everything to Dolan. Each off season we make moves that would seem to reasonably give us a better chance to win. I don't see him changing that formula or bringing in a really great GM and giving him complete control to do what needs to be done.

We can hate Isiah all we want, but in the end it's all about Dolan.

Do you think this firing and team's sudden regression lead to Deng and Gordon going elsewhere?

One reason the Bulls got so much attention was because we made a couple of high profile trades with them. They're also an example of what''s possible with non-stars who play hard.

Anyway, Skiles was fired, not Paxson, which suggests it might be a bit early to eulogize the whole team. It's not like they've been bottoming out for years.

I'd still take Hinrich over Marbury; Deng over Crawford; Nocioni over Lee: TT and Noah over Curry, etc, so this is hardly a time for Knicks fans to gloat.

skiles doesn't seem to think it was despicable either:
Stressing only the positives, Scott Skiles was upbeat and talked fondly of his Bulls tenure Monday afternoon, mere hours after general manager John Paxson fired him as Bulls coach.

"Hardly a day goes by that I don't demand accountability and stress results," Skiles said from his north suburban home. "Today was my day to be held accountable."

Skiles even had no problem with the timing of the firing, which occurred six years to the day that Tim Floyd resigned under pressure in sudden and dramatic fashion on Christmas Eve.

Paxson, along with team Chairman Jerry Reinsdorf, informed Skiles of their decision just before practice started at the Berto Center.

"The fact that it's Christmas Eve is neither here nor there," Skiles said. "The timing doesn't bother me. I'm not destitute."

Skiles said he absolutely hoped to coach in the NBA again, perhaps as early as next season, and stressed how thankful he was to coach the team he cheered for as a child in LaPorte, Ind.

"This is a great organization to coach for," Skiles said. "John is great to work worth, the training staff, the players, ownership. Everything is wrapped around the Bulls having success.

"I just wish we could have figured things out this season. I won't look at my time here as failure. But the endgame is."

In parts of five seasons with the Bulls, Skiles had a mark of 165-172 and three playoff appearances. The Bulls swept Miami last postseason to win their first playoff series since the Michael Jordan era ended.

Stand up guy you'll never hear I SAY UGH talk like this. Kam77 looks like you're a little off Son!

Spin and PR. Whats Skiles supposed to say? He still want to work in this league. It may have been his time to gø, but Paxson has seen the Bulls get off slow before and come back to win 49 games. What did Skiles do different this year? Is he responsible for getting Wallace and losing Chandler?

As to why i used the word 'despicable'.

Its Christmas. If Isiah did this....
lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

remember when dumars fired carlisle for brown. they had a press conference together.

guys that are about winning, that have not been wronged, do what dumars and carlisle did. do what paxson and skiles did. they leave on good terms and they know why the change was made.

not what isiah and chaney did. or isiah and lenny. or isiah and lb.

and if isiah did this...it wouldn't be christmas, it would probably be april's fools.

Skiles did not just get fire because of the record,he also got fired because the Bulls organization hates his guts as well as the players. If they ever wanted to resign any players Skiles had to go. The Bulls wanted to fire him for awhile. However, they made it deep in the playoffs. Now that the team has a horrible record they have an excuse.

Duhon seems to like him along with Nocioni.
That's only two people. And that's the wrong people to try and keep his job. The main players on the team hated Skiles, plus Paxson and the other higher ups. It's like Phil Jackson getting fired and someone saying Fisher and Kwame Brown liked him. While leave out the fact that Kobe, Odom, the GM, and Bynum hate his guts.

per ric bucher: jerry reinsdorf felt that the team would not turn it around this time under skiles so he was let go.

we all sit here and go nuts about dolan's interference. reinsdorf interferes alot as well AND doesn't spend $$$. he was the one that brought ben wallace to chicago. and he may have been behind the skiles release.

what's my point? even with meddling owners, a good gm can still put together a winning product.

It's not really all about the gloating. You say you'd take those players, but based on what really? Tons of over the top hustle during the regular season only to have very little left in the tank in the postseason? They were supposed to be making the innocent climb to a title. We had the Bulls and Paxson shoved in our faces as an example of all that is right and how much more talented and well balanced their team was. They were so close and once they got Wallace that was supposed to propel them to the next level. Now most of the talk is about who they should move in order to bring in what they need to win.

Remember these players were the anti-Knicks. Smart, talented, hardworking and winners from college. Paxson kills their confidence with his Kobe tease and at the same time fails to get what the team really needed inside. This is his mess. All that hustle that Skiles got out of them only masked the flaws the team had. Flaws that got exposed more and more. Now it seems like all that optimism has faded and they're no better than the Knicks. No matter what you say, this wasn't supposed to happen. Paxson is getting off easy IMO, cuz he is responsible for all of these players. Skiles did everything possible to get the most out them and it still wasn't enough.

No matter what, all the Bulls players have reasonable contracts and have hi production/$$ ratios.
Every one of those players can be traded and they have lots of flexibility both in raw youth and young veterans
to make whatever kind of deal they need to to improve. The one mistake in hindsight seems to be the Ben Wallace signing,
instead of just sticking with Chandler.

Contrast that with Marbury, Randolph, Q, JJ, JJ2, Malik; in none of whom any other team is interested.
Their current struggles DO NOT negate the fact that they are still an extremely better managed roster, and have
TONS more flexibility than we have.

Luva how come is it if we make the playoffs it's a major accomplishment especially when in all likelyhood we wouldn't win a single game but if another team makes it and doesn't advance that far it was futile? At the end of the day they are better than us in every respect.

When they've been in the lottery three years straight with the highest payroll in the league, and sordid drama on and off the court, would probably be a better time to compare the two.

Skiles became the wrong man to futher that team. He knows it, an Pax knows it. They gave him more time out of respect for the job he did.

It was a good gig for all and this is how it is. Skiles won't change and he is cool with that.

That was a hell of a press release by skiles and earns my respect.

Give skiles 3 years with the bucks next year.

Skiles got canned because he cannot coach ploayers that were taller than him when he played. He's very god with 1-3, terrible with 4-5.

A disgrace that Skiles can take responsibility for this year's record(and he won the years before) and Isiah blames the players when he loses. Players that he brought in.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

100% agree. He blamed the players heart and the fans within a week for a disgrace on the court. What a joke!!! Didnt this scumbag bring this team together???
I want to leave something that's going to stand for a long timeI want to leave a legacy,I want to leave tradition.I want to leave an imprint,a blueprint in terms of how people play, and how they coach and how they respond when they put on the Knick uni.

I don't think it was so much Skiles as much as the Kobe distraction that submarined the Bulls.

i don't think anyone can make excuses for a team underachieving other than the fact that the players just didn't come to play this year... that team definitely has the talent to win.

i definitely don't want Skiles here to coach this roster... these players would get sick of his militaristic approach after about 2 games guaranteed... if LB couldn't get through to these guys, he definitely won't.
