Earl - should Isiah go or not?

code - no

The Knicks are closer to being a consistent team than the four additional years it will take a new guy to evaluate things, separate who he likes from who he does not like and then implement his agenda through a series of gradual transactions.

Four years, along with a few head coaches, is used as the amount of time it took the 23 win Knicks to evolve into a contender with the Hall of Famer Patrick Ewing.

1985- was an uphill struggle as well

I think thats a poor standard to use. Looking at the team as it stands, how many more years do you foresee until contender status?

Code - I think the Knicks are two players away.

How long it will take Zeke to make those next 2 chess moves is anyones guess.
I need a nap.

Do you think after a couple more moves, we might actually be 4 players away?

There isn't a team in the league that isn't 2 players away.

code - you know like I know there are no guarantees. Just look at how much ground the post-Jordan Chicago Bulls covered over a 7 year period, only to be in current chaos over Kobe rumors and being little more than a collection of jump shooters.

But I digress.

Yoot will be served more minutes quicker than expected. Time to step up.

It's almost game time.

I've thought about it, and this does kind of suck because marbury could be a good contributor to the team, ala Q Rich.

QRich is pretty limited, but he gives his all on defense and that's all we are asking.

It'd be cool if we won.
Let's go Knicks. That's amare

misterearl, I am not sure how Marbury should be treated when he returns.  If there was a true leader as captain that might be something that would be handled by him.  If Isiah gave permission as Marbury claims, management should not have an issue.  Marbury makes too much money to be bought out and I do not think anyone else would take him.  As I have posted, Marbury is the same guy he has always been.  The difference now seems to be that Isiah finally is realizing that he can't win with him.  I also think he is an easy scapegoat for all of Isiah's other troubles.  Marbury is not as articulate as Thomas, does not have a good image in the media, is thought by some to be crazy, and does not do the things that winning players or franchise players do.  He is not well liked by fans and I am not sure how his teammates feel about him.  The one guy who has stood by him is Isiah.  I have wanted Marbury gone for along time and under other circumstances I would be very pleased that the Knicks might finally be making a move in the right direction.  However, I see this as another ploy by Isiah to keep his job.  Marbury is so disliked or at least thought of as what is wrong with the Knick franchise that sacrificing him might  help Thomas with Dolan, the fans, and possibly the media. I think the bigger problem is Thomas.

CrushALot - your thoughtful post begins to touch on this classic ego struggle that Marbury can never win. Not only is he struggling with taking direction he is fighting a losing battle that none of us win.

He is fighting time.

It's quite clear who here works for MSG and who was a "lover" but not working for MSG. For example, at such a low moment as today, holfresh began crossing over to the dark side. It's clear Earl & Nixluva work for MSG. They're probably the same person, actually.

bonn - you funny

the silly lover/hater tags are about as irrelevant as it gets.

"It seems like he and I go through this every November, then a couple of weeks go by and we kind of kiss and make up, then we go back to the business of trying to win basketball games,"

- Isiah Thomas

bonn - the question remains - do Steph and Zeke kiss and make up, or do you WANT them to kiss and make up?

Nine - when Marbuy was acquired there was dancing in the streets. Just that most will never admit it.
