"I don't think I ever would have had the opportunity to trade Nazr Mohammed for two first round draft picks. I like the player that I'm getting back in Malik Rose. He's a very tough player. He's a savvy champion who has played on two championship teams. Very high character. I think we're getting a very solid piece."

"As I said before, the way we're going to build this team, you got to get younger, you got to get more athletic. Today we got a little younger, but we also got better in terms of our future, in terms of adding draft picks. Over the next two years, you got four first round draft picks, which is something that we didn't have a couple of months ago."

"No, actually, I didn't really look into what anybody else was doing. I was really just focused and concentrating on making sure that we continue to execute our plan. And our plan, the only way we can build this team, is through the draft, or through expiring contracts, or through trades. And what we were able to do today is secure the draft picks, in terms of getting two first round picks, and also upgrade the talent, in Malik Rose and Maurice Taylor. I think it's a big talent upgrade in terms of what we let go."

Question: Those draft picks will be low, probably in the 26-30 range. How valuable are they, really?

Isiah Thomas: That's just it, I don't know. But at least now, we're in the game. We have a chance. For the next two years, you got a chance to add four players, four young players. Over prior years, when you look at who the players were drafted at those numbers, sometimes you get lucky. And sometimes you don't, but at least now, this is in a way our lottery. Without necessarily having to go all the way there. So these two picks, I don't know what they'll turn out to be. Who knows what they'll turn out to be. But some people have landed good talent there.

POST OF THE FREAKIN CENTURY!!!! NOW THAT'S SOME GREAT QUOTE WORK MISTEREARL. GREAT!!!!

People here think we're crazy, but we're not. We've just been paying attention all this time. While they're bitching and moaning and trying to tear Isiah down, some of us have actually been following along and seeing what he's been trying to do. I've repeatedly said that if you look at his tenure here there's a clear demarcation line. The 1st 1.5 seasons and then starting with the Nazr Trade he's been on a new path and we can CLEARLY see the fruits of that path. Just look at the roster now and tell me that you don't see what he's been saying all along. There have been those who haven't agreed with my take on that and yet here is more evidence of what i've been saying and I wasn't making it up and just guessing at what he's been doing.

GREAT JOB!!!

Sorry but that's complete BS that they had zero hope or future when Isiah got here. They had every single 1st rd pick and a few players with trade value.

Which players do you think had trade value and how much trade value do you think they had?

That's the part that bugged me. Chaney, Lenny and LB had rosters, who everyone on this site admits were worse than the one's we have today. Yet they had to be fired for "lack of performance", while our current coach needs a couple more years. I'm not disagreeing with Isiah because he does need a couple more years to fix the roster, but the others should have gotten the same luxury to build the team in their eyes.

You reap what you so. I wish him luck, but he is definitely reaping.

Don't spread rumors. Isiah was accused of sexual harassment, not reap.

I personally was never a Chaney fan and not convinced that he was a very good coach. But to date, he had the worst roster out of our last 4 coaches and he still got the most consistent effort and best results. Yet he was led out by security guards.

That was a great day. One of Isiah's best. It wasn't just that he had Chaney escorted from the Garden - first he let him twist in the wind a while, not knowing whether he would continue to be the coach. Then he went on TV and yukked it up with Letterman about Chaney's fate. Then he let Chaney come to the Garden on game day and prepare the team. And then he fired Chaney! HA HA HA HA HA HA HA! Then to top it all off, he has him escorted from the premises! After years of loyal service! Oh man, that was hilarious.

Those were the days.

All the above is true.

Remember how we all hated Chain-Knee? How he rode Allan Houston into the ground. How he kept getting extensions from Scott Layden for doing nothing but losing with a bunch of down-side vets? Isiah really was just performing the job countless Knick fans would've relished performing. The only thing that has really sucked is how Chaney went on to coach against us and beat the Knicks. What? That didn't actually happen? You mean he's not found another coaching job? Oh... my bad.

What is the point of your post? In summary once again you just made my argument for me. Chaney was led out by security guards becauswe he lost with "a bunch of down-side vets". Isiah is asking for more time with a younger and more talented roster. Yet Chaney one more games during his tenure.

NOt once have I said that Chaney did not need to be fired. I just hope Isiah understands that he is being held to the same standard as he held Chaney to. Is that not fair? Am I being an ogre? Am I an Isiah hater? A Knick hater? Are we only allowed to hate Chaney? Tell me the rules so I can follow accordingly and remain a Knick fan.

I'm still trying to figure out what was so wrong with his statement. We all know that in most cases teams need time together to make the climb to a championship. It's expected that the Bulls, Cavs, Jazz, Nuggets, Hornets etc. would need experience to learn how to win in this league, so what is so wrong with what Isiah said, which is the same thing?

The only problem seems to be that it was Isiah who said it, so he has to be wrong and just making excuses. What was it Pat Riley always talked about, the innocent climb? Now we're gonna act like this isn't a normal part of NBA teams growth process? Give me a freakin break!

you speak the truth man.

Rule #1: Dolan is good owner, charitable man, and big basketball guru
Rule #2: Isiah is Hole-of-faimer, high character leader, great GM, and excelent coach. He is also drafting genious and he is... innocent.
Rule #3: Stephan is the best PG in NBA.
Rule #4: Eddy Curry is future Shaq, and he will bring championsheep in NY
Rule #5: We ARE Young and Athletic

Is it clear or what?

It is interesting how his philosphy changes when he is coaching, dealing with chemistry, fitting players into a role and system and developing players as opposed to just being a GM.

i really hate Isiah. He is just saying this beacuse this is his last job. No other team will ever hire him. Mark my words, the sexual harrasment case was his last straw. I refuse to wait for a team to take 8-9 years to rebuild as he calls it.

Yeah, the funny thing though is, we don't have, nor do we want' years for him to prove it. He's already had that chance.
I'll never trust this' team again.

Do you think he fell off of a truck somewhere and has no idea what the league is about?

I had to really laugh at this one.
I'll never trust this' team again.
