I know coaches and I know players and this is the time you pat Eddy on the back and then get on him in practice harder than ever. Stop thinking these guys are so fragile that they can't handle some pushing from the fans. If they can't, they won't survive here. This is NY. The reason Patrick led us is because he didn't need our support to be motivated. When we boo'd he simply played harder. This is the mindset we want to develop in our current players. Win for winning sake.

Eddie has shown spurts of greatness, and then the equal ability to fall into the abyss and be forgotten on the defensive end and the boards. Until these become habits you have to stay on players like this. Trust me, the moment you slack, they slack. I can guarantee that Isiah will be harder on Eddie after this game than any of the others.
I just hope that people will like me

"What, I can't get no love today?"

then again, Isiah could simply show Eddy some love and give him a day off for good behavior.

bippity - the fallacy is that you hafta ride every players back until he screams "mercy" I would beg to differ. Eddy just might have done some growing up on his own this Summer. The home invasion might have gotten his attention. Who knows?

Whatever the button that needs to be pushed, Zeke is a lot closer than any of us. I trust he will use his experience as a player and coach to an advantage.

Just tell Jamal to get him the damn ball.

What is the most important thing about this team?

They could actually be one of the best teams in the league if they played like Lee and Balkman do.

Crawford and Curry are the most frustrating pair in the nba because Crawford could play like this most of the time if he used his head and if Eddy actually tried on defense he could be a force and be a very good rebounder.

Looking foward to getting collins in the rotation

I'm too lazy to dig up the thread, but I'd like to take this opportunity to bash Zach Randolph a little bit for being lazy and missing his workouts all summer:

BAD ZACH!!!!!! BAD!!!! Had you worked out a little more diligently, you would have grabbed 20 rebounds, and dropped 30 points last night!

oohah

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

Right now he does two things well (score and rebound), and he does them very well. He is bad at everything else though and I expect he'd be better if he showed up leaner and stronger.

bonn - c'mon.

brotha Zach goes for 22 and 17 and the best you can do is characterize "everything else" he does as "bad"? Gimme a break. It's a TEAM sport. Why the insistence on picking every tiny scab until it bleeds?

besides, if ZR was any leaner he'd be Keon Clark.

It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood.

Curry in the fourth showed us flashes of what an effort player at center would look like next to Randolph. If Curry could do that consistantly he might fit better with Randolph than anyone expected. But I don't know I would have to see it to believe it. The effort of Balkman & Curry with Randolph doing what he does gave us balance in the frontcourt for at least a guarter.

Well, sure. That's your way of looking at it.

No championship contending team has Zbo and Eddy Curry in it's starting frontcourt though.

The only comparable one is Okur and Booze, except they actually DO complement better b/c Booze is a better passer than Curry (MUCH better), and Okur is a better shooter than Zbo (MUCH better).

Not to mention Booze is actually a franchise player...
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

I'm not talking about one game. I'm talking about career wise. He does do two things very well and he does do everything else (TOs, steals, blocks) poorly. I thought that was pretty indisputable. If I was just being negative, I wouldn't state the things I think he does very well. It seems like you can't tolerate any criticism and want to hear people list *only* the good things about each player.

The Keon Clark example is simply wrong. If Zach lost a lot of fat, he'd be built like Karl Malone or Carlos Boozer. If he lost a lot of muscle too, he'd be Keon Clark. (We went over that just a few weeks ago.)

Franchise.. schmanchise...

Eddy and Zach will crush the Jazz frontcourt like little bugs and expose them as the girlie men they are. If you think I have any interest in riding the jock of Carlos Boozer, Mehmet whatshisname or any other random name you can dream up...

... then, you are, without question, more delusional than Trevor Ariza's entire extended family riding the Cyclone 100 times in a row with no lunch break. Outside of Scott Layden charting deflections from behind the bench, I could give a undernourished rat's butt about the freakin' Utah Mormons...

bobs, does the phrase "one trick pony" hold any special meaning for you?

Bonn - if a frog had wings he wouldn't bump his ass so much.

Leave Eddy alone. So far this season, he's doing his thing with a new wingman better than anyone, including you, expected.

Hey, I have a better idea... let's rake David Lee over the coals for blowing a defensive assignment!

Leave Eddy alone? I didn't even mention Eddy. Did you mean Zach? I'm NOT saying anything so terrible about him: I'm stating both his strengths (which anyone other than you might actually see as *complimenting* him) and weaknesses.

Eddy's shown throughout his career that he can play this way, why last night was such a surprise is curious to me... what he needs to show is his ability to bring it every night... he can absolutely dominate any time he wants to, we all saw it for a string of several games last season when he went on that tear in mid season... i love seeing him play that way & that's why it irks me when i hear nimrods refer to him as garbage... the dude can play, he just needs what most young players need, & that is to learn consistency.

Listen, people, let's face it.

If you're 25 years old, and you're still inconsistent, you are what you are.

He's been in the league 6 years, now going on 7.

Stop being suckered into your fantasies, and just accept the player for what he is - a one trick pony.
