nothing against white dudes or any race, but the nba does have a thing for seven foot stiffs. the fact that most of them is white may be a coincedence. i mean yinka dare and luther wright are black. Wright was drafted by Scott Layden the arcitech.

Boy, can we use my man, Troy Murphy. Agree with you there... my prediction is, Kaman won't be able to tie Murphy's shoes.

Kaman will be decent. You guys underestimating his abilities. He will be a good player. He won't be great but a good solid player he will be. If I had to compare him to anyone it would be Brad Miller. I happen to think Brad Miller is a decent center and the KNicks could use someone like that. As for Kaman he will get better with time he is solid 10 feet out and his range will get better with time. I wouldn't put to much into his performance in the tryouts. I think he is a better player with a team around him. Besides I want him to be around the blocks thats where a center is suppose to be and his foot work is solid. I think if he is available then the knicks should take him but he will most likely be gone by the time the Knicks pick.

I am glad you like the Troy Murphy example because he's perfect. He will never be Duncan or anything spectacular...he's just good, and and he under 25, and he makes less less than $3 million a year. Look at every NBA roster, the Knicks have NOT ONE PLAYER making less than $5 mill thats worth the jersey he wears.

I would be fine with drafting Travis Outlaw or Ebi for that matter and hope he's the next T-Mac, but if we drafted Sweetney or Kaman and they turned out to be the next Elton Brand or Brad Miller that would be ok too.

Or we could trade the pick and McDyess for Rasheed Wallace, have him get arrested with a pound of dope 2 weeks into the season, then have him suspended for a year after he punches a ref (he was out to get me) and wonder why the Knicks always have bad luck.

I used the Raef comparison because Raef has good skills. He's a VERY good shot blocker, decent rebounder and has a good inside outside game...but for some reason he just kinda stinks. He's not half as good as his numbers.

Lets be honest he is better than anything they have now. I saw a couple of his games and he moves well for a big man he has good dexterity he didn't have the goof that some big men have he was coordinated. I'm not going to base to much on one or two workouts. He is working out and getting stronger and he will get faster. I think that the layoff since his college season ended is long and sometimes it takes time for a player to get his rythm back. Lampe on the other hand just came off his tournament and has been in playing shape from the time he stepped onto the floor. Kaman if availabe is worth the pick. He is a good baller. If the choice is there between Lampe and Kaman well I'm gonna go with Lampe without hesitation. If Lampe is gone and I have to take Kaman then its a decision that I could live with.

I'm high on Travis Outlaw. This guy one day will be a top player in the game.

Since his arrival at Golden State, Troy Murphy has worked extremely hard to become the player he has become. He's smart, knows his job, can bury an 18 foot jumper and will average a double double every night. He always gives 100%... I love the guy!

he's a white Oakley in a lot of ways. But he's a perfect example of how (by NBA standards) a below average athlete can become a very good player, with the right work and dedication.

Don't forget how highly thought off Murphy was coming out of Notre Dame. He was a scoring machine. However, he realized he had to get a lot stronger to fit the role of an ideal power forward in this league. That he would never be quick enough to be effective at the three.

I view Kaman as a tweener... not a center, nor power forward. Those guys tend to have a great deal of trouble and this guy is going from being a junior at Central Michigan to the NBA... big risk and I see limited upside.

in any case only time will tell. Nobody can really predict this stuff, if they could 9 teams wouldnt have passed on Paul Pierce and Amare Stoudamire.

This was a good discussion, everyone made good points...thanks for that. Much better than the "he sucks" "no you suck and are stupid" type debates that sometimes win over.

EVERYONE wants this team to get better. Some want it now, some are willing to wait. I would have no problem with rebuilding type players, but its hard to trust Layden...he's just SO bad.

Kaman impressed me vs. Duke(as big a competition as you can get) in the NCAA tourney. He is head and shoulders better than that softy Lafrentz. Kaman's game is nothing like Lafrentz... I like the Brad Miller comparison, only he will be a better more intimidating version of Brad Miller. Is he the next Ewing or Shaq? no, but he is gonna be dam good.

fish mike, that is a good point, I would love to have a troy murphy, or a brad Miller or Elton Brand, If we got that caliber player at the 9 spot, I would be elated. But again, I don't think Kaman is that type of player... but who knows....

I still don't want him tho....

This is the game that everyone is evulating Kaman on, which IMO is ridiculous....
Who plays center for the Duke?

The question is who plays center in the ECF.
