Well since JJ2 is hurt, he won't have to think too hard about benching him. Balkman should start the season getting about 25 minutes a game and that should continue even after JJ2 comes back. He also needs to limit Curry to 32 minutes and give Lee 30 minutes a game. This team can win if IT is willing to sit the guys that don't play smart basketball. Collins should also get some burn.

"smart basketball" is played when coach has game plan and players are executing it.
I don't think we have any game plan in place and we do not have many players who can execute anything.
At least they never show they can.
Isiah and his players are at the same page in playing intuitive basketball which is exiting (of chaotic if you are realist) but always losing against any well organized team.

That is our other problem. We need a better game plan, but even more problematic is that our players cannot run the game plan that we do have. Too many turnovers and lapses on defense. Even with the current game plan, if it were better executed, this team should be a .500 team.

Maybe our game plan is too complicated
I just hope that people will like me

They are giving their best and they play as hard as they can. To the extent of injuring themselves.
But their abilities are limited. They just regular players...

"Beside the fact that he brought every single one of us here," Curry said, "he treats us like equals."

that's the biggest hurdle he has to overcome to become a better coach. can't treat players like equals, you have to be above them, especially when dealing with younger players.

I don't read that sentence that way.

He treats us {the players} as equals {amongst themselves}.

So Mabury is treated no better than Mardy Collins for instance.

I don't think EC is saying he is equal to the Coach.

Thats just not the case. Isiah determines minutes.

How lame. The guy is too busy trying to be everyone's friend than their coach. He needs to stop living vicariously through the players, realize that he's retired and that his job is to help them win, not buddy up for drinking night.

This is why Nichols isn't on the team. He couldn't be bothered to cut his friends from the team.

See above.

I'm not sure. This wouldn't be the only indication that things are too buddy-buddy there. Now I agree that Curry's quote can be taken in multiple ways, but this was a concern I had before Curry's comment. I believe others had the same concern before Curry's comment.

Once upon a time there was an incompetent regent. He wasn’t evil, mind you, must incompetent. His name was Regent Layden.

Under Regent Layden served Sir Chaney., who was in charge of the Knights. Chaney was a good man who meant well, but he could not inspire his Knights. Most of the Knights at this time were elderly. Their best days had passed.

King Dolan knew that something drastic had to be done, so he had Regent Layden beheaded and installed Regent Thomas in his place. Thomas had a long history as a brave Knight.

It didn’t take long for Thomas to begin correcting the errors of Layden. First, he brought Sir Marbury back to the kingdom. Sir Marbury was from the kingdom and was beloved by all its citizens, but he had been away, fighting in foreign lands.

Then Thomas had Sir Chaney beheaded, expelled the Knight Van Horn, and installed Sir Wilkins. Alas, Sir Wilkins had become senile, so Thomas had him beheaded and brought in the illustrious Sir Brown.

Unfortunately, Sir Brown was full of treachery and tried to undermine Sir Thomas in the hopes that The king would replace Thomas with Brown.

So Thomas had the evil Sir Brown beheaded. Seeing that there were no competent leaders for the band of Knights that he had gathered, he took control of them himself, and led them on a victorious campaign, winning 33 of 82 battles in one year.

Things were looking up, but there was one more evil presence stalking the kindom. That’s right, it was the evil dragon Anucha. Anucha was a mean, nasty, bitchy dragon who, much like Sir Brown, wanted to undermine Sir Thomas.

Thomas knew that if he could slay this dragon, the future for the kingdom was very bright indeed.

Knowing that dragons are repulsed by humans, he put his arm around the dragon and sais “What, I can’t get any love from you today?”. Then he called the dragon a bitch.

This enraged the dragon, and she started thrashing about blindly, giving the hero Thomas a chance to SMITE HER WITH HIS SWORD

He slayed the evil dragon, and all the Knights were very happy, because the dragon had terrorized them and made them attend boring meetings with the Barons and Lords who funded and enjoyed watching their battles.

King Dolan rewarded brave Sir Thomas, naming him head of the knights in perpetuity.

The King, the Knights, and all the people of the kingdom were very happy, and showed their love and respect for the triumphant Thomas.

The End.

Kam I wrote the exact same thing on page one. It seems to me we are at the point where every word is micro-analyzed to find anything bad to say about Thomas.

None of these players are geniuses, English majors, or competent orators. They say stuff. Often dumb stuff. it means nothing 99.99% of the time.

The key for the players is to stick with stuff like: "I just feel privileged to play here" Every pro athlete should watch Bull-Durham.

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

Pass the Ovaltine and Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

BasketballJones - an instant creative bedtime classic.

what happens when the young Knights cut their turnovers and begin to trust one another in battle?

Can any one of the Knights smallish forwards put forth a supreme effort on defense a mere two nights after All Hallows Eve to dispel the demon of opening on the road in the kingdom of Lord Lebron?

Being a coach is like being a parent. Your job is not to make sure everybody feels good or be any body's friend, but to make sure you get the most out of their potential.

The only difference between being a coach and a parent you can boot the pain in the asses out the door without worrying about Child Services looking for you.

joec32033 - a parent loves No matter what. Whether a child reaches their potential or not, the love is always there.

A coach loves you only so long as your minutes are productive. His can love you today and cut you tomorrow.

Being a coach is very different from being a parent. You are a parent for life. Coaching is as temporary as it gets.

Wow. You'd think after winning countless "Funny Poster" awards, BBallJones would rest on his laurels and live off reputation. But no, the dude comes out and re-establishes himself as a dominant force. Kudos my friend. I salute you.

Don't take it so deep, earl. Didn't want to go that deep. Seriously. The post took all of 30 seconds to write. You're interpretation was not what I was aiming for.

Just making hay while the sun still shines. If the Knicks ever really get their act together I won't have so much to make fun of, and will have to find another gimmick.

"Thomas knew that if he could slay this dragon, the future for the kingdom was very bright indeed."

I would pay good money to see the expressions on the Knicks faces at practice today. Not so much as dj pays to sit in 404 (damn, I miss his Pulitzer Prize-winning game reports) but enough to buy a Sabrett's hot dog on 7th Avenue...

Zeke has their attention now and the challenge will be to build on the detrmination and focus of the 4th quarter in crucial situations. No team plays without valleys. The trick is to manage the slumps with subtle variety of substitutions.

Isiah dapped up Nate during the video review and Nate almost looked surprised with tha attention.

Eddy and Zach need to settle on one major issue:

Headbands or no headbands.
