The Celtics could use a shooter and another defender at the 2/3. Nichols would be a good fit.

I hope Nichols comes back to burn Isiah.

It's not even about Nichols and what kind of player he is. It's about how badly Isiah has screwed up this roster, to the point that they cannot keep promising young players because of all the dead weight on the roster. Even after all those buyouts, that LB asked for but Isiah refused, they don't have any flexibility.

It's so bad that Isiah is in position to foolishly throw away 2 2nd rd picks.

The is a very acurate account. Totatlly agree. However, if Nichols really asked to be cut, I think he is being a little too arrogant for his own good. Not only turning down a trip to Europe, but asking to be cut before cuts are mandated is a bit much. Especially for a 2nd rounder. Tie your hightops up and go to work. Make it impossible for Isiah to cut you. No need to be so brash.

i think the point from nichol's POV is that the hightops are tied up, but his ass is tied to the bench.

He'd be sitting right next to Chandler who was a higher pick than him. What second round pick is gauranteed, not only a spot in the rotation, but a spot on a team?

Okay, maybe I missed something. Who has confirmed that he isn't playing in practice? Just asking because this is the first I'm hearing of this.

Solace and Bonn you guys are out of your minds and will say anything to bash Isiah. Intentionally sabotaging the 54th pick.... lord have mercy you guys are funny. No excuses for Dnic! He made this bed.

Keep trolling it up, you troll whore.

If I'm not mistaken, you joined in in praising Isiah when Nichols kicked ass during summer league. Now man up and bash Isiah for f'n this one up. That simple.

Funny how I get knocked for bashing Isiah now, when *I* gave him credit for getting Nichols in the first place. Funny how you missed that.

Nichols is absolutely right to asked to be cut. He knows that he has the talent and skills that should help him have a nice career in the NBA. He also knows that there are teams that would pick him up as soon as the Knicks cut him. Isiah's ego keeps burning the Knicks. He needs to move on and make sure Nichols is a part of this team. If he doesn't it will be his second big failure of the preseason. The first was not settling out of court with Anucha.

Call Isiah an *******, but its buisness. Buisness wise I wouldn't cut him until I would absolutly have to. He did invest a 2nd rd pick. Managment wise it would be smarter to buyout James & Rose, and keep Nichols. So thats the part I don't agree with.

Don't you think it would have made sense, business wise, to figure out if the kid was willing to go to Europe before trading for him? And I agree with you, I rather cut any of those guys before cutting Nichols.

Yes it would have made more sense business & managment wise to do that. But thats not what I was comenting on business wise. People asked the question why did Isiah trade for him. Answer because he thought he would have been able to stash him Europe for a season. Why Isiah traded for Nichols without confirming wiht Nichols that he would send him to Europe is a different question. As for Isiah being an ******* to him, business wise he got to do whats best for Knicks not Nichols. Flat out cutting Nichols isn't whats best for the Knicks.

When Isiah did anything good for the Knicks?

Papabear Says

If Nichols is as good as almost everyone on this forum is saying, then some team will pick him up just to be spitefull to Zeke. Something went wrong in this case. I think you guys put too much into the summer league. The majority of the players won't even start in the NBA and most won't even play. This kid haven't proved anything yet. Had he kept his mouth shut things may have went a different way.

some of you should reread the initial post of this thread... OK fine here it is:
The fact that the rotation - not to mention the roster - seems to be determined is one of the reasons Allan Houston cut short his comeback attempt. It's also why rookie Demetris Nichols, according to a person with knowledge of the situation, has asked that he be cut if he doesn't have a fair shot at a roster spot. The Knicks have denied Nichols' request, despite the fact that he has seen very little time not only in preseason games but in practice. Nichols did not play last night.

"We haven't made up our mind on anyone," Thomas said before the game. "At the end of this process, we'll let you know."

there was no "demand." if the article is accurate, he asked that, if he's not going to get to play in games and even practice, to be able to sign elsewhere. he didn't go to the press with this. come on, don't make d-nice out to be the bad guy here.

Solace - is the immature name-calling really that crucial to your point?

The final cuts are not due until the 29th. This frenzy over defending Nichols, driven by speculation, would lead one to think Isiah just drafted - and is getting ready to cut Julius Erving.

A cooler of Orange Julius will probably do more for the Knicks this season than Nichols.

When a poster spends all of his time following "haters" around to complain about how the "haters" post; yes, actually, it's relevant.

Kamwhore needs a new gimmick, because his current one is getting real old.

You have a point that it's speculation. But, we have all seen that Nichols can play. There is no excuse for Nichols not making the roster. As for outrage, what's more surprising is the lack of outrage at the potential of losing an awesome shooter, which is something that many felt was the Knicks biggest need.

Masterplan - that's the way the competitive cookie crumbles.

I enjoyed Nichols in Summer League as much as the next guy. If he has game the Knicks will find a way to keep him or stash him. Personally, I like him at the two.

The contention that Nichols is being mistreated deserves an investigation by the NBA

misterearl - not if you have a well-run team

oohah - so a rookie should be judged on how much he can contribute this year? anyway, the same point be made for jerome james. i know who i'd rather keep.

All depends. Is said rookie really part of the future? That has to be decided first.

I like the kid, but I am not convinced he is part of the teams future. And I certainly don't think he is worth getting worked up over, and it doesn't make any sense to rail at Isiah before the decision is made whether he is cut or kept. Who had the vision to get him over here anyway? Who sees him every day in practice? Maybe that person is the right person to decide.

If he stays I think that is good. If he goes, it's not a big deal.

I think, to be fair, if we are going to talk about how Isiah ****ed Nichols by drafting him and then (potentially) setting him loose, we should also raise the point that Nichols ****ed the Knicks by agreeing to play in Europe for a season, then backing out of that agreement after playing well in the Summer League.
