It can't be denied that Isiah & Dolan have tarnished the name of the Knicks franchise of late, but the idea that Kobe or any other superstar doesn't want to come here now because of what Isiah has done is absurd.

Why is it so absurd to think that a good name couldn't be tarnished enough to scare people away. It is very true that Kobe had turmoil in L.A. with the rape case and the management that has not been able to get another dominating player in L.A. The Knicks are in NYC. A major, major city on planet earth (maybe the most major city in the world) and you have many big name businesses here in NY. MSG is supposed to be the 'most famouse arean in the world'. How many times have we heard that? If you give an institution like that a bad name' and you try to brush it off to the side, forget it man! Believe me, people will think twice before they bite and they won't bite, not until major changes occure. We are being forced to make shabby deals because of the hostile atmosphere that has been going on behind the doors of MSG. People at Enron embarrassed the company, same in Wall Street, same in all of professional sports all over the world with the steroid thing. People in this bush administration have paid the price of ****-ups! All of those people paid the price. It happens all the time, all around us and it's no different in MSG. This isn't some little town like down in Seattle, or Detroit of somewhere like that. This is the main stage and you cannot **** this up! In NY, you get once chance and one chance only! To be that stupid, you gotta pay for that with your job. There is a certain stigma that comes with controversy and unless that atmosphere changes for the better, it sticks to you like ****'n glue! You or anyone cannot pretend this doesn't matter, because it does' matter. I have said it so many times, in so many ways and I will continue to say it until people understand the seriousness of what has happened. Dolan & Isiah gotta go for us to get better and bring respect back to the Garden! It's the only way. Demand respect by demanding change! The only way the Knicks can downplay even a fraction of what has happened is to get to the playoffs and go deep. How many of you see that happening? We'll be lucky to win 33 games again.
I'll never trust this' team again.

Let me be clear of what a true superstar is:

Kareem Abdul Jabaar
Magic Johnson
Dr. J
Michael Jordan
Larry Bird
Isiah Thomas
Allan Iverson
Kobe Bryant
Tim Duncan
Shaq O'Neal
LeBron James
Dwayne Wade
and a couple dozen others.

Men who have proven that they can lead a team to championships.

Guys like Allan Houston, Eddy Curry, Zach Randolph, suckbury, punk ass nate or any of these other guys we have on this team couldn't lead a horse to water. Face it, we have no star!

Papabear Says

hey 4949 get a hold of yourself. It takes 5 men to play this game. Pretty soon no player would want to play with Kobe. Chicago is Jordans town. Why call the Knicks all those dirty names.

Papabear

What do ya think I am' stupid?! You missed the whole point!
I'll never trust this' team again.

So, in other words, a superstar overrides any issue of chracter?

Don't kid yourself arkrud - what Knicks do you think Buss wants in exchange for his prized superstar?

If a superstar is one of the leading scorer's in the league, is getting your team to the playoffs, winning games and doing incredible things to take it to the next level, and getting the team to respond, then yes, it overrides character. We can't say that of any' of our players. None of our players can afford to be a head case, because it disrupts the whole team. Action speaks louder than words and a superstar can say almost what he wants, just as long as he's not overly controverial and is impacting the teams winning record. Few do it, but they do it well. Just ask jordan. He had a big ol' smart ass mouth and when he said he'd shoot someone's eye out, he went out and did it over and over againa and again. Opposing players and fans may hate the hell out of it, but it's not against the law. If you can't bring it, then you don't deserve to talk trash! Kobe's one of the few exceptions.
I'll never trust this' team again.

I'm glad he's not coming for two reasons -

2) His inability to get along with other players. Kobe doesn't want to share the ball. He doesn't support his teammates and puts his own goals above the teams.

What a joke!!! And what has suckbury been doing all this time? He's not even a factor, other than his big mouth! Let's see, you'd pass on Kobe, but you'll keep suckbury? Good one!
I'll never trust this' team again.

I find it funny that a guy who has been involved in rape allegations himself will complain about the turmoil in NY after he is creating a shytstorm in LA..

Who cares what channing frye says.. the guy needs to shut up, get tough and play ball...

Good, now we can forget kobe and move on..

Which is double whammy as to why you wanted him here in the first place. TKF he represents everything that's wrong about the league, his physical talents and abilities don't excuse those. He's crap character, and a terrible leader. Who cares about his 81pts and sick dunks let him rot in L.A. or go destroy another franchise. And as I said during the summer we don't have good enough Trash A.K.A. Scrubs to give up to get him. There's about 30 different players in this league I'd rather have than BLOWBE CRYANT!

I think you have it a little backwards there. Dolan & Isiah are destroying this' franchise. And it's a joke that you wouldn't want his 81 pts sick dunks. You'd be smoocing all over it if he was here. Granted, if I we could get LeBron or Carmelo, only then would I consider passing on Kobe. We'd not only get superstar tallent to build around, but one that doesn't carry baggage. Besides, Lebrons loves the Yankees. It would be perfect!

No I wouldn't, there isn't a player I despise more than KOME. He has many of the qualities Marbury has the only difference, he's more talented and played with the most dominant center of our generation. He had the best situation any second banana trying to become the 1rst banana one could have but it wasn't good enough for him. Just like his beautiful wife wasn't good enough for him. At least with Marbury he's never really been considered a winner, always was a bum but KOME chose to become a Marbury. Once Shaq left we saw the real KOME. We have what you call SELL OUT fans. We're so desperate now a days we want anything, a rapist who sells out his teammates, coaches, owners, and HOFers who cares "let's get him." Just imagine if our team won 3 championships with a chance to win a few more yet one player decides he wants to set his own franchise legacy by alienating his agenda from the team to establish a new era. And by doing so forces the hand of the ownership to choose his direction(although they didn't have to). Then proceeds to produce one terrible losing season 1rst yr, a so-so season the following yr, and a mediocre yr after that, then wants out. He's awful just awful.

You compare Kobe to suckbury? There's something wrong here.
I'll never trust this' team again.

Its all about the Money. Always has been always will be. Where were all the superstars lined-up to come here before Isiah took over? Who was the much needed superstar that took less money to come here and help Ewing win a ring? All these superstar players talk about wanting to come to the garden (the mecca) when they are free agents but at the end of the day, they sign elsewhere. Vince? Webber? Last I checked, they've never been sized up for blue & Orange uniforms.

Even when Isiah is removed, if we don't show them the money, they aint coming here.

Yeah, it is about the money for the most part. But like Blue said, the elite guys will get their money. Hell, even Rashard Lewis was able to get his money. But when it comes to elite guys, they have to worry about their off the court money and how they are perceived by the public for marketing purposes.

If you were an elite player, would you honestly want to come to a team that has known nothing but failure under their current management, has been ridiculed nationally for their ineptness and now for a sexual harassment case that they just lost and whose best players are not well thought of amongst their fellow players (Starbury being voted the most overrated player in the NBA by his peers).

Of course you also need the cap space or players with high ceilings (think Al Jefferson and Caron Butler) that other teams covet in order to get those kinds of players here, both of which Isiah has done nothing to improve the Knicks situation, but that's for another thread.

All I know is, love him or hate him, Kobe would be the biggest thing to hit NY Knicks basketball since Patrick Ewing.

They do have a lot of similarities. And I think Shaq is the main reason LA got those rings with Kobe playing a distant secondary role. I think even if Marbury teamed up with Shaq in his prime, his teams would have at least made it to the finals and maybe even still won championships. Shaq was simply *that* dominant in his prime.

The Lakers would not of made it without Shaq & Kobe and in one of those NBA championships, it was Robert Horry who hit the game winner, when the Shaq Attack couldn't pull it through on the inside. It was a 'team effort'.

It is hard to conceive suckbury being a contributing factor in winning anything, based on the idiocy we all know of him. Why would anyone compare suckbury to such superstars to begin with?

TMS, I will defend you on this one, because I know you have always been a kobe detractor, so I know you would not jump on the kobe bandwagon if he were to join the knicks, but one thing I would caution you about is to label someone a "rapist" especially when they were not convicted, that is such a harsh label to put on anyone. really bro.... it is...

I knew someone would say that. I just wish people would really make an attempt to understand at what is trying to be said, instead of drawing conclusions.. In no way did I get from your post that you were trying to compare Kobe to marbury as a player, but rather their personality traits. And I do agree, they seem to have something eerily in common here...

What's wrong with you wasting your semen in a wet dream over a player who brings just as much baggage along with his play, who doesn't really want to be here? I mean as a fan wouldn't you want KOME to publicly say we are his Top Choice? Why aren't we his Top Choice we're the Mecca of basketball correct? He hasn't! Matter of fact when initial reports broke out with us being a distant 4-5th mention of his, we haven't heard anything from him or his camp that our team destination is a bigger desire of his. We're an afterthought at this point, yet you're tricking yourself like a tramp trying to make a quick buck thinking/hoping/wishing he'll come here.

TMS, I will defend you on this one, because I know you have always been a kobe detractor, so I know you would not jump on the kobe bandwagon if he were to join the knicks, but one thing I would caution you about is to label someone a "rapist" especially when they were not convicted, that is such a harsh label to put on anyone. really bro.... it is...

Point taken but I don't mean for it to be taken as is more so that his actions put him in the category of a rapist. He more than likely forced himself on a girl after too much flirting and once it got going the girl probably was like oh no I can't handle this. Nevertheless his wife>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>that girl

Webster Dictionary

SELFISH=KOME

I want team first players with character, commitment, effort, desire, who don't quit, etc etc etc..... talent would be towards the back.
