I am a Knicks fan. I criticize players that play bad like Jared Jeffries and praise those who do good like David Lee. A lot of people are bitter because the Knicks missed the playoffs once again. Understandable. I believe if we were not plagued by injuries we would have been in the playoffs. Shoulda Woulda Coulda. I cant harp on the past, but I know we finally had a promising season and with the huge acquisition of Z. Bo why should I not be optimistic? The season has not started. If we begin losing then we have reason to hate, but each season is a brand new start. Every team starts at 0-0.

Huge acquisition? Zach's an above average starting PF but is he even top 10 at his position? I'm not sure he's top ten even if you ignore his character issues for the sake of discussion.

Duncan
Garnett
Brand
Dirk
D Howard
Amare
Boozer
Bosh
Gasol
J O'Neal
maybe Okafor, Al Jefferson, Ant. Jamison, D Lee, T Chandler

There are 30 teams. Ranking 15th makes you an average starter. Zach's between 11 and 16. We got a slightly above average starting PF.

Al Jefferson!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11 Are you coherent????
He was close to 20/10 (I think like 17/11) with lot of blocked shots in the 2nd half of the season. Sure contract plays a factor, but I guarantee you the Celtics could get more for Al Jefferson than Frye and Francis--I'd bet that would be the case even if they had the same contract.

However, the main point from my message is that Zach is merely a slightly above average starting PF, yet people are talking about him as if he's the turning point for this franchise. He's basically *the* reason, some argue, that the failures of the Knicks this decade are irrelevant to predicting this upcoming season, yet he's only a slightly above average starter.

Ok, Bill Cosby lets start here.

Tell me how Al Jefferson is better than Zach Randolf?

Explain to me how Al Jefferson (16 ppg, 11 rpg) is better than Zach Randolph (23.6 ppg, 10.10 rpg).

You use the logic that "He was close to 20/10" referring to Al Jefferson. So you are rating players based solely on ppg and rpg. By your own logic you are wrong because Zach Randolph is better!

You're out of your mind. By the end of last season, Jefferson was a better player than Zach.

Next year Zach's numbers go down from the year before and Jefferson's go up.

Bank it.

Oh, BTW, I'm a realist.........

Nobody should classify themselves as a realist except Islesfan. He's the only one that's been right every single time since day 1.

What is your definition of a realist?

A) Make your best attempt to be fair.B) Have a tendency towards being correct in your assessments.

I'm honestly not sure of your track record, but I'll say this: I am not sure that everyone on this forum tries A and I know the "lovers" have failed massively so far at B. Regardless, calling yourself a realist sounds arrogant. In my experience, most people who say they're realists have been really far out there (not all). If you were really a realist, maybe we'd have other people on the forum calling you one, as well.

In other words: "don't break your arm patting yourself on the back." Just some friendly advice.

In no way did I try to come across as arrogant when I suggest that I'm a realist. I agree that a realist should be fair and is able to see both sides of the fence. I bash when its warranted and praise when necessary.

"Man, who knows with this team." Aguirre.

I am a lover. I am a Knicks lover. I don't love Zeke or Marbs, but I don't hate them either. I don't think that Zeke came into New York to destroy the Knicks on purpose. He is trying to do what he think whats best. He may fail just like all the others for the last 33 years or more. Some people just don't know what a Fan really is.
1. A fan roots for his team to win.
2. A fan financially supports the team by attending games and buying sports items.
3. A fan support the team weather they win or loose.
4. A fan expresses his disappointment when the team is doing bad.
5. A fan is never a faker or a hatter.

The end of the season eh?

Al Jeffereson's last game of the season
ppg: 17 (on 7-17)
rpg: 15
TO: 4
AST: 2
Blocks: 1

Zach Randolph's last game of the season
ppg: 43 (on 16-26)
rpg: 17
TO: 2
AST: 5
Blocks: 2

So, not only is Zach Randolph a better shooter and rebounder but also a better passer, blocker and takes better care of the ball. I see, I see. Wow, fishstickfan, if not for your thoughtless insensitive remarks I would never have found that out. Thanks!

Hmmm but didnt you say this "By the end of last season, Jefferson was a better player than Zach"? Surely you know that the last game of the season is included in the "end of last season" right? You said I must be out of my mind but you seem to be going senile... just a little bit though.

You know my friends great grandmother uses a really good Alzheimer medication to help her out. I told you about it before... you must have forgotten.

I thought about checking the boxscores from last seasons final day to find an obvious example of a superior player have worse numbers than an obviously inferior player but then I realized there was no point.

So you went into the future, experienced "Zach's numbers go down from the year before and Jefferson's go up" and came back to tell us all, huh?

You know what's funny? My 4 year old nephew thinks he can "time travel" also. Figures. He roots for the fishsticks also. Dont worry, if you fight the urge to come off the meds again you will get better.

Bank it.

It's not a technicality, it's a totally different statement all together.

And it's not even worth discussing with people who don't understand that.
