Oh yeah. Okay how about someone that can shoot free throws at a 95% clip. We could sign them and use them in late game situations as a designated free thrower. We need more specialization to balance our team and make up for our weaknesses. We could sign this designated free thrower to a 5 year 75 million dollar contract so that he doesn't feel out of place.
Don't be silly. What we really need for those late-game situations is a guy who is great at inbounding the ball. He could be our designated in-bounder. It's probably best if he doesn't shoot or dribble very well so he won't be competing with our designated shooter or our designated dribbler.
I used to play in 5 on 5 leagues with this group of 6 guys. Five of us played in college at some level and then we had our 6th guy who we really just picked because we wanted someone who could fill in when we were tired and wouldn't complain when none of us wanted to sub out. His role when he was on the court was simple. He wasn't allowed to shoot, dribble and rarely allowed to pass. His role was when one of us would lose our dribble we would pass to him and he would immediately pass it right back. We called him our designated dribble renewer. Maybe the Knicks could use one of those.
