Does anyone really expect Curry to leave his family alone at this point? 2 weeks ago was when they had their home invasion and 1 guy hasnt even been caught yet. I hope Curry moves his family and work out trainer to NY soon.

he was out of shape.

What's your criteria for saying that? How do you know this for sure? How did you determine his actual fitness level? You could be right, but I don't know how we can be sure this was the case.

What kind of criteria are you looking for? We're not exactly kept privy to his body fat percentage, amount of his bench press and his mile time.

If a player looks fatter and slower than he did the previous year, gets tired quicker and isn't performing as well it can be reasonably assumed he is out of shape. Or at least in worse shape than he was before.

From an article by Isola

Marbury, 30, is under contract for two more years, so there is no immediate rush to find a successor, although acquiring that player figures to be Thomas' next major challenge.

Marbury finished the past two seasons sidelined with injuries as his body continues to show signs of breaking down. Understandably, Thomas does not want to enter the season without an insurance plan.

For the long term, the transition from Marbury to his successor will be a delicate issue for Thomas, who remains Marbury's strongest advocate. Thomas refused to criticize Marbury last season for showing up out of shape and suffering through a slow start in November while others on the staff were fuming.

Isiah benched Marbury twice. That often gets forgotten. Isiah wants the best for the Knicks. He isnt as tight with Marbury as some make him out to be.

Q. TrueBlue - Do watch the games or not?

A. No. I leave that part to djsu and simply read the "live from section 404" reports

with that said, I stand corrected

true blue - excellent find on the Marbury conditioning report from last season. I had no recollection of any internal tension on the coaching staff. Isiah must've called Steph late one night and told him it was HIS butt on the line and either shape up or have a seat.

I think Marbury got the message

I woul love for Collins, Chandler and Lee to bond as the reincarnation of The Minute Men, until they make the transition to significant minutes, as a cohesive unit, in 2008

Come on fellas. Everyone knows that Marbury was out of shape at the begining of last yr.

Alanfan has/had every right to say what he said about his concern with Marbury being out of shape at the begining of this season.

So if Marbury comes to camp in very good shape this yr. Good for him, good for the team. And Alanfan as well as all knicks fan will be happy.

newyorkny - of course allanfan has every right to an opinion. That was not the issue.

I was questioning how one loses respect for a ballplayer in the offseason when you don't know what he's been doing?

nix, this is a fan message board where people are in large part expressing their opinions. If everything stated had to be backed up by what you are asking for, nothing would ever be posted.

Hey, I didn't say he was wrong. I didn't even mean to sound like I was coming down on him. He gave a one sentence statement and nothing else, so I wanted to see what he was basing his opinion on. That would seem to also be part of what a message board is about or am I wrong about that? I'm not trying to be argumentative in this case. Answering even one of my questions or providing some other basis for his opinion would've been fine.

It is fair to ask how someone develops their opinion.

It seems a bit over the top to ask 'How did you determine his actual fitness level?', knowing full well that no one here can do that...wouldn't you agree?

That's fair. Looking at that question it does sound over the top. I think this is perhaps where some have a problem with me. It's in the posting style. I may come across differently on line than I would if talking in person. In this case I really wasn't trying to come across harshly. I just didn't do a very good job of selecting my questions.

I think more people than just you (on both sides) have the same issue in having their points fully understood the way they intended.

Andrew - understood.

Tone is nearly impossible to gauge unless the writer and audience are in tune. In a place where opinions are passionate it is automatic that people will jump to conclusions to defend themselves.

Just as I, a lifelong Knicks fan, have vowed to defend my beloved franchise against the random brewing of lime-kiwi flavored Haterade.

Did I mention that Wilson Chandler is a dead ringer for Andre Miller?

But check it out, Wilson is a legit 6'8. Be still my heart.

Tone is definitely left to interpretation. I have no problem per say with Tone vs someone flat out lying without doing their homework. Don't say "No Steph Was Not Out of Shape" as if it's a fact, not backed up with any credible source.

Google is everyone's friend use it.

It's been stated in the past and it was implied in this thread he wasn't out of shape. Anyone with Stevie Wonder vision could see the guy was out of shape without having references to back them up. It became a lock when the references did back the notion up.

trueblue - the issue wasn't simply whether Steph was in shape last year or not.

How could anyone say for certain that he wasn't working out Summer?

Is it impossible for Marbury, or any other player, to receive the benefit of goodwill?

Can players be allowed to change, as in the case of Marbury showing up to work out in August, or are they permanently typecast?
