Yeah I don't get SEbstar's point. WE overpaid for him. Fans can hold a grudge all they want for him being paid that amount. And I know NY fans will hold a grudge. It's still wrong, and I personally find no reason to hold anything against him. He was a one dimensional jumpshooter before the contract and he remained one after. If you were duped into thinking his game was going to morph into a superstar just because he received the money than that's too bad.

I blame Layden for that roster(which so far has outperformed our current one). Not Allan HOuston

I dont get YOUR point. I dont remember there being a shotgun included in the negotiation process from managements end, so he signed that deal knowing that his own personal profile would be raised --- thats just the way it is. Signing that deal does not mean that you can hide away, criticism free. He knew that.

Regardless of the past, the main thrust of my post is geared towards the future. If he puts on a Boston uniform or any other, after all this organization has given to him --- THEN WE WILL HAVE A BIG PROBLEM. I dont see why thats just so outrageous to you.

Okay, let's look at this scenario Let's say management decided that they could not lose Malik Rose. So before this season starts they offer him a 6 year 100 million dollar contract? Malik signs the contract.

Who would you jump all over for the contract to Malik. Would you boo Malik and hate him, or would you marvel at how incredibly stupid management is for offering this contract to Malik? I personally think the Allan Houston contract was equally stupid and do not blame Allan in the least bit for this stupidity

So now were comparing Houston to a cat that has pine needles sticking out of his ass from sitting on the bench so long.

Again I'm looking towards the future, and Layden overpaying him this time is not in the equation --- this is all on Houston. Why are you avoiding that point duke. Enough of the past.

i think when people refer to ny as the *most* knowledgable, they are referring to what they know about the game. they know all the stats, all the players on their team and around the league. salaries, protection on picks, etc. they are aware of what's going on.

BUT that doesn't mean anything when it comes to how they react to this information. being a fan, at it's core, is absolutely primal...exhibited by the *roar* of the crowd when they approve and letting out the boo-birds (or whisltes) when they dissapprove.

ny fans have ALWAYS been this way in every sport over many eras. and yet people still don't understand why h20 gets booed. why home crowd fans boo their own team. and why ny fans don't deserve a winning team. but i guess it's tough for the 0.1% of the elite to see why 99.9% of the degenerates don't think like them...not all of god's children can be brilliant.

H20 you are forgiven for hitting the biggest Knicks shot in the last 30 years, you are forgiven for destroying reggie miller, you are fogiven for helping us to the 1999 finals, forgiven for being a multi time all star and olympian and you are forgiven for trying to carry our team on your back despite already having an injured ankle and knee.

But you sure as hell wont be forgiven for entering the Garden with another uniform on, when you have been sitting on your ass the past couple of years collecting 20 million dollar checks for nothing. And if not for a rule that was essentially created in your honor, your deal would have counted against us when it came to dealing with other talent.

Are you serious? He gave his knees to the team. The Knicks Dolan and Isiah encouraged him to retire!

Why is Houston some testament to valor? His knees hurt a little so he kicked it at the house for a couple of years and collected 40 something million in the process. Now conveniently enough his knees feel great, as soon as his contract is up and he's already angling to put on a different uniform. Why are people around here writing about him as if he lost his legs in combat and he has to suffer through hardship...duke is a millionaire 156 times over. I'll save my pity.

I mean, do people say that Penny gave his legs to b-ball...If Marbury went down, would people lament the fact that he gave his ankles for basketball? Houston is a insincere, me first, pious hypocrite who gets a pass for lord knows why.

His knees hurt a little? You are delusional. Have somebody take a baseball bat to your knees then go try to play hoops.

Did you not comphrehend that H20 did not want to retire? That the team asked him to retire so that they wouldnt have to pay his salary (insurance) and luxury tax? Physically he could barely move at the NBA level at that point or did you miss his last 20 games that he could barely limp threw?

What have you ever done to help the Knicks? Pay for a ticket? Wow what a sacrifice you have made for the team. H20 gave bones, ligaments and blood to help the team.

You his P.R rep or something, homie? Why so much passion for Houston. How is Houston more special than any other NBA player who has to deal with pain. And like I said, he seems to be feeling great, all of a sudden.

Knicks wanted him to retire, because he kept whining about his knees and he obviously wasnt trying to play.

I'll be honest and lay all my cards on the table when it comes to Houston. I have no respect for him. Here is a cat that put his religion on his sleeve yet, to me committed a deadly sin --- Gluttony. He in no, way, shape, or form earned his paycheck the last two years. He should have given away a considerable chunk of that money to the less fortunate. Others could have used that money a hell of a lot.

I see other players, Marbury especially, take so much abuse from the fans and the media --- perhaps its deservedly so, but I know a fake and a fraud when I see one. At least Marbury tried to make somewhat of a difference through philanthropic efforts, but to some he'll always wear the black hat, while Houston will always find himself exalted by others for some reason.

I dont give a damn about Houston's knees, others have dealt with much, much worse. I find it self-serving at the very best that he is now ready to play.

I guess I dont' understand the point of the post. Is the question will Allan Houston be boo'd when he comes to the garden? If that's the question than the answer is yes of course. He was boo'd while he was in a Knick uniform, why would it change.

But I"m pretty sure the original question was "will I forgive Allan Houston"?

I don't have anything to forgive him for. I was never angry at him. He never did anything to me. His worst offense as a player was have a huge contract and not lead us to a title. If we are going to boo people for that I'm not sure why we aren't booing Jerome James. At least Allan got some shiot done.

You are speaking like you are delusional.

Thats like saying Miles, Mashburn, Kmart, etc were all just whining about their knees and the pain from microfracture surgery wasnt real.
H20 was an ironman for the Knicks and thats the reason he killed his knees.

How do you know he didnt give a bunch of money to charity? Real charity is kept anonymous. People who really believe in giving dont call press conferances to pat themselves on the back for their giving to charity. I could never see H20 publicing what money he gives to charity.

You have no respect for H20 what H20 did for the Knicks?

The hate for Houston is similar to the outright hate for Marbs and Isiah. Often times there is no rationale behind it. Just anger.

Ive found that around 95% of hate is irrational and usually says more about the hater than the hatee.

I dont think we need to be calling someone out of his name around here, because a guy that wants to throw a pity party for a man that hurt his knees and was paid 40 million in the process doesnt sound like the height of sanity to me.

But I understand his knees were in devastating shape. Now that his contract is up, they are feeling great. Already got that memo from you, b.

Real men of faith keep that ish to themselves, unless they are serving some sort of purpose. They dont use it as a weapon to divide the team and make anti-semitic remarks. I dont think much of Houston at all, and I'd like to think there is rationale behind it.

In any event, an NBA player cant fart in Walmart without it making news on the third page, so I'll assume Houston hasnt contributed much more than putting a few extra dollars in the collection plate. Houston sure hasnt been shy about expressing other things, so why wouldnt he publicize a good dead that could inspire others to give, rather than think of self. That 40 mill he collected went straight to the pocket. Its laughable to assume otherwise.

I don't get what you are saying.

I'm saying that its absurd to compare Malik Rose to Houston. Its an exaggerated comparison --- Rose receiving a contract of that magnitude is unfathomable.

My next point was that Houston is angling to play for another team, rather than play for the Knicks. To that he has complete control, and it would be a slap in the face to Knick fans and the organization. I hate to say "organization" because quite frankly I'm the last person to ever feel bad for a soulless, corporate entity, but it would suck for him to have taken all that money while contributing so little.

Its puzzling to me considering that Houston is a man of such supposed high moral standards.

Sebstar, if the Knicks say "We don't need you." which they probably don't b/c they already have about 50,000,000,000 guards, does he have your permission to go to another team?
