Well, that one flew over your head Solace.

Here is a simple example off-hand: The Celtics are going to be fielding a top 5 player in the league (arguably top 3) along with two guys that are each top 5 in their respective positions, all at the prime of their careers. All the "talent" in the world that by any measure should result in a three year NBA championship dynasty.

Yet most analysts (a ridiculously grandiose term for commentators on the NBA, but moving on) have the Celtics only as a lock to contend in the ECF, and most won't predict that without simultaneously pointing out how weak the eastern conference is right now.

Why is that? Could it be that "talent" isn't all you need, that every team, even one packed with all-stars, needs time to gel, time to form a team system and identity? Its a fact that most anyone would acknowledge save the self-proclaimed "realists" of the UK Mafia, who describe this only as a "let-down". Yes the Knicks should win 48 games but they suck so I predict they will win 39. Ain't I a realist?

No mate, you are a complainer. Simple fact is that you dislike Isiah Thomas, dislike Marbury, and even "joked" that we would all be better off if Eddy Curry was executed (to your credit, this was before the incident in his home), so you would like nothing better to see these guys fall flat on their faces so that you can be right.

All the convoluted hater-lover definitions, it really is no more complicated than that.

enyspree - How anyone can even mention the word hate, during the Summer no less, towards my beloved Knicks on a board boldly themed as "Pure Knicks Love" is totally beyond my comprehension.

Anyone who celebrates when the Knicks lose, because they don't agree with the people in charge, or would have taken another wet fantasy-route to instant success, is a pervert

Meanwhile the HATERS will still be pissed because we expect according to talent to win no less than 45gms, more so 48wins and finish as a 6th seed at a minimum.

Oh Dear Rembee just quit you aren't good at this.

Solace BTW I had the team winning 37gms as a premature prediction. I won't make a final one until after I see them play in Pre-season.

Three players in their primes? NBA prime is 27 or 28, give me a break. I think they will win A championship and I think Phoenix or San Antonio will stop them in the finals at least once. How's that?

An entire season is enough time to gel in time for the playoffs. No, the real issue is the fact that all three players are a little PAST their prime, they traded their entire core except for Pierce, and a few of their main players are coming off injuries. But... if it all works out, they will win MULTIPLE championships. Tools like you look for guarantees when there are none. I think many know that the Celtics are in better shape than the Knicks.

Whatever dude. You are a liar. I want them to SUCCEED. I'm waiting desperately for them to succeed. I WANT to be wrong.

Last year all three had season averages well above their career average, Ray Allen had his best year statistically, in fact. All have yet to experience a down-turn in production...as in, in their primes.

Nice try! Who cares about career averages? Take it against performance from previous years. Ray Allen was having a very good year on a TERRIBLE team, but he only played 55 games due to injury. Not a full season. His shooting percentage also dipped a bit. Paul Pierce was having a good year on a TERRIBLE team, but only played 48 games due to injury. His shooting percentage dipped considerably, as well. KG also had a worse year on a TERRIBLE team, as evidenced by his 5% drop in FG%.

Sorry, I missed the part where you pointed out something I said that was untrue. I also missed the part where you provided solid proof that the production of the Celtics big three is in decline. KG's FG% was the same in 2000-2002 as last year's. Was he on the downswing of his career then too?

Its OK to admit that you are rooting for this team to fail, Solace. Really. I pretty much did that with Layden's team in 2002, though I have to admit I stopped short of suggesting that we would all be better off if Shandon Anderson was dead. That would have made me a card carrying Hater, right? See? I was once in your camp.

bippity - at least you are honest.

Watching the Knicks in 2007 from Section 404 will be the most fun for djsu since the magical run in the abbreviated1999 magic carpet ride.

I can't wait for his Pulitzer Prize winning reports to start.

Notice the only ones interested in perpetuating the asinine Hater-Lover tags are the Haters. That right there is proof positive that the "Haters" aren't really interested in in-depth analysis at all. Another example? Nixluva schooled the board on another thread describing Isiah's offense, and all the self-proclaimed "UK Mafia” could say is "How come we aren't the Phoenix Suns of the East, like Isiah pormised", or something just as shallow.

Here is a theory: Trueblue’s “Haters” predict we will win 48 games next year so that they can be sure they have something to complain about when we don't hit that mark. Yeah, we didn't improve by 25 games last year so we underachieved.

Ridiculous BS that only constipates the all-too-rare interesting dialogue on this forum.

Tell me I'm wrong.

I noticed that this was quickly dropped after someone brought up the prediction thread. Theory based on nothing but the voices in your head.

Based on all the seasons since 1999, this won't be hard to do. I personally think the LB years will be tough to beat in terms of excitement

True Confessions

rembee - I confess to hoping that Matt Barnes would have an apendectomy so Matt Carroll would have a roster spot and that Maciej Lampe could actually play a lick

bippity - the second third of last season was bringing some noise until the injury outbreak

the point being, judging by the number of new threads and new postage, there is as much, if not more, eager anticipation for the upcoming season - and its new skill sets of yoot combinations - than any year since Patrick Ewing's finger roll rimmed out against Indiana

most people will never admit it though

I was the biggest hater in the layden era, but who wasn't? Layden was the worst GM in professional sports history.

I have said before that this. Is isiahs last chance. He started off good by getting zach. He still has to make the right move now to trim the roster. A lot of the knicks troubles has been due to bad luck. It sucks. Bad luck won't cut it this season. Isiah could get fired mid-season and I wouldn't flinch. At least with isiah you could see the potential with some of the deals. Layden didn't make one deal that made sense.

anyway, this thread us idiotic. I dunno why I can't stay out of it like silver said.
