I think you need to implement your coaching style on your son, by bringing a basketball, and rolling the ball into a crowd on the subway or the bus. If your son dives hard after it, then he can sit with you. If he doesn't, then your WIFE sits on your lap, and he watches. If your wife takes your gentlemanly manners for granted again, make her sit on the fat chick sitting next to you.

I throw the ball in the yard and my dog beats my son to it everytime. I can't have that. I've been waiting for a way to teach him how to value the basketball and go the extra mile to get it. This is a brilliant idea. I will try it tomorrow. Yes, I know he's 2, but eventually he will have to learn.
